    I’m very Old School, 1911 & CZ75 Old. That being said, the Glock 34 converted me to plastic striker fired pistols. To give you a little perspective I will tell you that when I entered Military Service the issue pistol was still the 1911! Transition to the Beretta was underway however it had just started and we were required to qualify with both. If you are Old School hardcore 1911 or Browning Hi-Power like I was, one of those guys who will “never” carry one of those “plastic” pistols, give the 34 a shoot, you may be surprised.

      Took mine to the range yesterday, and although a true diehard 1911 fan I must say that this has easily become my favorite pistol.

    Why is no one mentioning the lack of slide cutouts on this pistol. I mean that's the absolute first thing I noticed when I saw one. How is this getting missed.

      I never really liked the cut out. Just a huge gap for foreign material to potentially cause a jam.

      Not having a window is actually a feature for the G34 Gen 5 . Glock got alot of feedback from customers saying they did not like the window. Windows cause more issues than they solve. They thinned the slide to compensate for not having the window cut to have the same slide weight of a Glock 17.

    I have a gen 3 G34 w/finger grooves, which I prefer on the larger size frames. The texture isn't the greatest on gen 3s, but skateboard tape readily solves that issue. The grip circumference is great (no backstraps necessary or available). Throw an aftermarket magwell on it, and it'll work better than the "built-in" magwell of the gen 5. Although no MOS is available on the gen3, I would prefer to mill the slide for a dedicated red dot (which would be more stable in the long run). Doesn't matter what gen 34, it is an awesome platform!

  • @badgumby9544
    @badgumby9544 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Slide didn't lock back because of your grip. Your thumbs are dragging the slide. I did the same thing. Shooting left and low is common with full size Glocks. It's a combo of poor grip, improper trigger pull and shot anticipation. We all do it. Not a bad group though. I've got one of these coming thru the new Glock promotion for Veterans with a DD214 being able to buy Blue Label guns until Labor Day. If you're a Veteran now's the time to buy a Glock.

    Frame not an RTF, I have a 17RTF2w/gills & 34GEN5MOS. The 17 sticks to my hand like flypaper. The 34 shoots amazing, but had to add homemade grips with skateboard tape to get the RTF2 feel. Now, it really rocks!

  • @coryrudd9509
    @coryrudd9509 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I was really hoping you would compare muzzle flip/felt recoil against the Gen4 due to the cutout in the slides not being on the Gen 5. If I am going to make a race gun I still want to do as little as possible to the gun as necessary and sending it off to a gunsmith to make a cutout when i just could have bought a gen 4 would be good to know. I am already planning on a trigger job as a worst case scenario so what is the felt recoil based on slide changes.

  • @JC-gy5bh

    • @JC-gy5bh
      @JC-gy5bh 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@blackticalmayhem8461 I totally agree, I would never carry a Clock or any handgun with slide cuts, however for competition I'd lighten it as much as I could on the limit of reliability , a malfunction in competition is not the end of the world, however a malfunction in the real world could be, so I agree on the dirt/dust issue for carry.

    Sorry Glock but I just purchased my IWI Masada 9mm. Every bit as good as good (if not better). Also has more features on it that I wanted. Not to bash Glock and it cost almost $300.00 less !!! Before you buy compare got yourself. Good Shooting 😃

    • @FirstnameLastname-vy2dg
      @FirstnameLastname-vy2dg 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was going to go with the masada over this pistol but IWI isnt sure they are going to make the chassis swappable on the masada and glock has so many aftermarket parts available plus it looks better imo and its reliable and will def hold its value over the masada if I ever get in a tight spot

    • @richvanwinkle
      @richvanwinkle 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      First name Last name Happy you got yourself a Glock. Out of all my handguns (only have eight) the Masada is still my “go to gun”. I have put a couple thousand rounds of 115, 124, and 147 grain through it and haven’t had one hiccup. Don’t know maybe I’m just lucky but I trust this gun. Sometimes with my life. As far as resale goes we’ll have to wait and see. With that said I’m purchasing a Glock G45 (no mos). After I receive it going to send it to Agency Arms and have them convert into the Sage Dynamics Signature Pistol. Version 2. Among other things it will have Optic System (AOS) Premier Line Barrel and Compensator with Gunsmith Fitted Trigger Group.This will be my first Glock. Thank you for your reply ! I always welcome other peoples view points and experiences. Good shooting and stay well.

    I bought a Gen 4 a couple weeks ago. I’ve only put about 200 rounds through it, but love it. With the extended slide catch, you have to be careful not to let your thumb depress it. That’ll cause the slide to not lock back. I had that issue the first few mags I shot until I figured it out.

    Really great improvement on the trigger, 5.31" barrel matters, grip and texture slightly improved but still really lacking compared to any other pistol, especially CZ or Walther. Any Glock should only cost 198.oo because of the 40 year old plastic frame. Krap frames 👎

    • @TristanPetricca
      @TristanPetricca 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They now come with metal sights which is a step up from the plastic ones in previous generations. They are decent, and a good place to start, but most people want more. Glock started to learn and on the new Glock 19x they put combat night sights. I prefer to replace the sights with Dawson Precision sights because those are the best for what I am doing and I have them on my GLock 35, so I'm used to them. I think it's just preference. I see many people leave their stock sights on and shoot well.

    There are two kinds of people that consistently put the muzzle into the hand palm--especially when field stripping the Glock:
    1. Those that have shot themselves through the hand, and
    2. Those that are going to shoot themselves through the hand.
    Huge safety violation, specifically, never point the muzzle at what you would not want destroyed.
