So I have no problem with the idea of God divinely providing the needed human material to create Jesus. That in and of itself doesn't equate deity though. I believe we can take Luke at his word and confirm that Mary was a virgin. Luke 1:34-35 ESV (34) And Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I am a virgin?” (35) And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy-the Son of God. As I note in the video though, Jesus NEVER appealed to the virgin birth as His source of Sonship. He never said "I'm the Son of God! My mother was a virgin!" Another point, and I know that we probably take a different view of Adam's creation than many do, but, Adam was also called the Son of God. His mother wasn't a virgin, he didn't even have a mother, and yet, if you took a DNA sample from Adam, he would have been 100% HUMAN. So the fact that God contributed, didn't equate to deity. I believe I also make note in this video (perhaps it's another one) that I am and we ARE sons of God. I make no claim to deity because of that. By virtue of His DNA, Jesus was of the seed of David. His Sonship to God was declared by His resurrection. Romans 1:3-4 NKJV (3) concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was BORN OF THE SEED OF DAVID ACCORDING TO THE FLESH, (4) and DECLARED TO BE THE SON OF GOD with power according to the Spirit of holiness, BY THE RESURRECTION FROM THE DEAD. There's a few tidbits with some of my thoughts...for what they're worth.
Thank you for your response. I agree with most of what you shared. The word “Virgin” has been contested in Isaiah 7:14 to simply mean “Young Woman”. And the writers of Mt. & Lk. would have used the Septuagint to continue the word usage. But It doesn’t matter to me either way. So you believe that this was a supernatural act of God…Mary getting pregnant? Adam being called the “son of God” like Jesus is a Suzerain Vassal term. It had nothing to do with deity, but the relationship between a Suzerain (God) & a Vassal king (Jesus). The COVENANT=NATIONAL LEGAL TREATY given to Adam to Jesus. Jesus was not deity. Jesus was from a human bloodline. Jesus was the New Covenant head just like Adam, Seth, Noah, Shem, Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, etc.
@@merci888 I agree that "virgin" can be a young woman, or maiden. There are statements in both Matthew and Luke that go beyond a word that can have a dual meaning though. Matthew 1:18-19 NKJV (18) Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, >>>before they came together,
@ I agree with everything you said, but Jesus’ birth is the only one where there is no seemingly “earthly father.” All the other cases, yes, the women got pregnant in their “old age,” but they had a human semen to create the baby, their husbands. And God could “open up” someone’s womb, sort of speak. Unless, Joseph’s sperm was magically placed inside of Mary during this process. But if Jesus is human, he had a human DNA not a spiritual DNA.
this crazy man talked to himself
Can you explain the “virgin birth”?
Spirit & Flesh cannot create a human being.
But only Flesh & Flesh creates a human being.
