- Sword and shield (aka sword & board); a distant memory, a forgotten art, a meme, some may even refer to it as "trash". Today I show you that it still lives on...(its still pretty trash). For real though, SnB is one of my favorite setups to play in Elden Ring. While it doesn't have the same place in the meta like previous games, it is extremely fun to play and has a pretty high skill ceiling/expression.
With the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC approaching, I'm not sure if I will be posting anymore videos for the time being. I WILL however continue to post my daily backstab TH-cam Shorts series, so be sure to subscribe for those!

Chivalry is not dead. Playing old-school is the best, the dev created a system where almost all of enemies attacks can be counter with and outsmarted. I hope to meet you in the arena one day!

How do you get this crazy movement?
Practice, while I'm not a PvP pro I do know that for some of the backstabs he does:
1. Lock off
2. Immediately turn around and dash
backwards
3. Backstab
You gotta be super quick to pull this off

Shields are the best way I know in 1.10 to enter the enemy's range without putting too much at risk. It's a refreshing break from the passive space and counter gameplay that 1.10 typically favors. I wish they would tone down block stun vs light weapons so I didn't feel so rooted in place when someone slaps my 7 weight brass shield with a 1.5 weight tooth pick or pair of gloves. Stam damage while blocking vs fast weapons seems a little high too (not when poking I like the poke shield nerf)

I played sword and board a lot in DS3 with a hollow build. Was a lot of fun.
Directly countered stuff like double spear poke too 'cause you could close the gap a lot more easily, and in this game, it blows up bestial sling spam.

is that a mod or something? my menuing is never this fast, there is always a delay for me when accessing the menu, happens sometimes when mounting and dismounting torrent as well. its like a second or so of delay before i can actually do anything.
That sounds like a hardware problem on your end that struggles to quickly load the menu.
But nah it's not his menu speed but his own speed, bro has memorised the inputs to switch to what weapons he wants and has practiced to switch as fast as possible

You might have cross-region multiplayer turned on, which connects you to players in different countries

What i really love about sword and board is that you can quickly exit any stance ash of war by blocking. In other words, you can essensially do a wallmart grade perfect block in pvp and follow up with a guard counter, compleetly safe from latency. That creates some intresting mindegames, and have let me be quite aggressive with sword if night and flame in pvp.

One of the best fun setups in the game, no doubt but what troubles me the most, when you wanna fight against meta setups with this setup, some people unfortunately swaps the same and kills the fun. If your opponents spacing is good then it's an amazing fight tho.
