Thank you Bill and hello to Linda! Erik won Swedish Idol in 2009. He was diagnosed with leukemia in 2021, joined Skid Row in 2022. He stepped down recently to pursue health care and has developed his solo career which is fantastic! I think he is a beautiful singer! I wish him the best! He has also done collabs with both Dan Vasc and Tommy Johansson too.
The song with Dan Vasc is Erik’s own song, because it’s a H.e.a.t song “Breaking the Silence” and Erik was the front singer in H.e.a.t from 2010-2020. So for Dan is it a cover. Looove Erik and follow him. His Swedish and so am I. 🇸🇪😉
Never heard this singer before and I absolutely love what I am hearing. His voice is amazing, but, beyond that, you can see and feel the fact that he is living the emotion in this song. That's always a big thing with me. Technical ability is wonderful, but unless the artist feels the song and can communicate that feeling there is just that certain something missing for me.
You're absolutely right on that. Emotion makes the difference regardless of what emotion it is. Have you ever heard Ann Hathaway sing I Dreamed A Dream? It's from the film version of Les Miz. You will need a full box of tissues! Erik is amazing! I can't wait check out his collab with Tommy Johansson!
This brought on goosebumps and tears. What a magnificent voice! The original by Dolly Parton is hard to beat, but I'd say this is easily a tie with a different arrangement.
Enjoyed your reaction to Erik. He an amazing artist. Might want to check Breaking The Silence a duet done with Dan Vasc. Two great singer for the price one one. LOL Always enjoy your reactions and your musical awareness that you bring. See you on the next one.
Don’t forget the is a H.e.a.t song and Erik was front singer in H.e.a.t from 2010-2020. So this is not a cover for Erik, but it is for Dan Vasc. But Love That Song.❤️🔥🎶❤️🔥🎶
Great reaction 👍😃I'm so happy that I got to see Skid Row last year att Sweden Rock Festival, before he decided to leave this spring to take care of his health and so he should 🥰 That guy has pipes one would not believe 😃 You should take a look at a few Skid Row songs to that he totally rocks in 🤘 Have a great day 😊
Fantastic cover by Erik. I was at first a bit disappointed when I saw he's doing a Whitney version because I always thought that Dolly's original is much more emotional. But Erik managed to bring in emotion while keeping power of Whitney's version. Stellar!
Crazy this song popped up again.😍♥️🤙😇Lv his version of this song. I kept hearing this song his version from the time I woke-up and into the afternoon. Thanks for sharing it again. This man is so BLESSED.🤙🤙🤙🤙Chills every time I hear this.
Thanks for a great reaction, love you channel and style! Erik is a wonderful singer, he did a killer job in Skid Row. Slow but GOOD song! Maybe it is time to speed it up!? We are beginning to miss The Warning, suggests for next one: from Teatro Metropolitan 2022-( super quality audio), a good start is “DISCIPLE”.
Erik was diagnosed with leukemia in 2021 and had to get a bone marrow transplant and that reset his immune system, he himself said he currently have the immune system of a 4 year old essentially, so actively touring with Skidrow took a toll on his health cause his immune system was taxed after each show and caught a lot of nasty bugs, so he decided to take health first and leave the band too prioritize his health
I'm glad he is putting his health first. That's what matters most. I'm sure he was heartbroken having to leave Skid Row but it was the right thing to do.
Great reaction . Eric and Tommy and Sabaton, what a combi. They are the best. Eric was also in H.E.A.T., a great swedish metal band. They are also now fantastic, with his old and new singer Kenny 🔥🔥🔥
I discovered Erik on this journey with Dan Vasc. Dolly has always been one of my favourites and she wrote this song and was first to record it. Then Whitney made Dolly very rich❤. Erik's version I actually prefer to Whitney's( sorry) just because his voice is amazing and has some edge to it plus the power. I wish him the best of health and keep on singing like this.❤ from a 🇨🇦Grammy
Hey, Bill! Thank YOU, for jumping in and doing this reaction so quickly. It's such an important thing for Erik right now, as I see Jamie has already informed you (hi, Jamie!). One thing I'd add to the short and accurate comment that I see Jamie has written, is that if you go back through Erik's (wonderful) YT channel, for the last few years, you can see just looking at him, how the leukemia had such a terrible hold on him. Then, late last year, while on tour, he got hit REALLY hard by a quick, but vicious bout of strep throat. You can hear him tell about it at: th-cam.com/video/Jg-h8iq6qAA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=XEoIXHFVc-i5VXkH Looking at him singing THIS song, now that he's quit Skid Row, I think he's going to go really viral with his solo work like his one. Did you notice some things that he has fairly obviously gotten from Dan Vasc? The lighting and the camerawork are VERY similar. The cameras aren't manned...they are programmed. He made good use of both things, with the black background, as well. You might want to react to the two of them doing "Breaking the Silence." Also, as Jamie mentioned, Erik has sung with Tommy, as well. A lot of us would REALLY love to hear the three of them together. That would be so HUGELY fantastic! 😀 I hope you'll forgive me showing up here as my real-life Linda profile, rather than Grandma's Got Grace. One of these days I'll climb in here and be Grandma's Gone Gaming, too. I've subscribed as Linda, now, and I will in my Gaming disguise, as well. Please say hi to Nancy to me, too. HUGS, NANCY!!!
Thank you so much, Linda! I appreciate the back story and the link, of course! Yes, looked a lot like a Dan video. I think that's become the modern format for performers. Makes sense, too. I'm looking forward to seeing him and Dan collaborating. Same with him and Tommy. So excited to check them out!! I love all of your alias's! I hope to see someday Linda commenting on a post from Grandma's Got Grace. And perhaps Grandma's Gone Gaming could reply with a rebuttal! 😂😂😂😂😂😂See how my warped mind works? Nancy sends BIG HUGS back!!
Thank you Bill for your wonderful reaction on Erik’s amazing cover. I will recommend you his last cover, realist yesterday “Dream On”. ❤️🔥🎶❤️🔥🎶 But it doesn’t matter what you choose from his cover, every single one is amazing.🤩 Thanks and hugs from Sweden 🇸🇪🤗
Yes, that's what I read. I think I need to check out Halestorm. They keep popping up with various bands and I know nothing of them. Thank you, my friend! 🤘❤️🤘

Enjoyed your reaction. You should check hus Judas priest cover of Painkiller and Black Sabbath’s Headless cross next. They are just amazing 😀🇸🇪 Jona Tee was bandmate with Erik in the band Heat and also they was together in New Horizon. Jona does a lot of instruments in Eriks covers, he’s also the producer, does mix and masters.
Wow! I knew about Painkiller but not Sabbath's Headless Cross! I will check out more of Jona, too. I love multi-instrumentalists! Thank you, my friend!

Thanks for the info, my friend! I always thought Dolly was solo. That's so interesting! I'm going to have to do some research. I know she came out with a rock album recently because she was inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame. I should cover some of those songs too!
If I understood Erik correctly when he talked about this on a live stream, the saxophonist is Australian and sent the material to Erik in Sweden. So no, they weren't the same room or part of the world
One of the beautiful things about modern technology! I'm hoping to do a joint reaction with Old Metal Dude Reacts. He's Australian, so we would be reacting together from two hemispheres, two oceans, on two days, at nighttime and in the daytime all at the same time! Crazy! 🤘❤️🤘
Dude!!!! This was absolutely freaking amazing!. I found you through your Taylor Swift reaction. I just love how you dive deep into the songs. I had to check out if this was really the Whitney Houston song and I cannot believe this guy just nailed it. Liked and subscribed. 😊
Erik left because of his health yes, to focus more on his health. Which was not possible with the hectic schedule Skid Row has and the demands that are necessary when you are a touring band.
Yes this cover is awesome but i recommend you to listen to Eriks first cover on the Chanel, the cover of Black Sabbaths Headless cross he was in the middle of his cancer treatment when he did it. He had also done a Johnny Cash cover god will cut you down, he also done Painkiller on his channel take a listen I promise that you won't be disappointed.
That's nice, that one came from a fun thing called wheel of for tunes on his TH-cam channel when Erik spinning the wheel twice, first genre (now Country) and after that theme (sex on the beach) then he got to write a song with that guidance , it became to be a real feel good song
To the maker of this video I have a request. Here is my request: Could you please do a comparison video of who sang it best between Erik Gronwall singing his cover version of I will always love you live Streamed on Apr 19, 2024 versus Judika also singing his cover version of I will always love you Live at a wedding at Balai Samudera on December 21, 2017. Let me ask you this: you believe Judika does the best version in your opinion, right? So, does it matter what my opinion is? I would much rather react to a video of Judika all by himself, honestly.
I like the cover of Carolus Rex,the duet with Tommy Johansson more than this. Here's the url for it if you'd like to take a look:: th-cam.com/video/ijaaozMdDgE/w-d-xo.html With Tommy,he sounds like a man.

I like the cover of Carolus Rex,the duet with Tommy Johansson more than this.
Here's the url for it if you'd like to take a look::

To the maker of this video I have a request. Here is my request: Could you please do a comparison video of who sang it best between Erik Gronwall singing his cover version of I will always love you live Streamed on Apr 19, 2024 versus Judika also singing his cover version of I will always love you Live at a wedding at Balai Samudera on December 21, 2017. In this video after listening to both performaces one after the other i would love for you to share your opinion as to which of these two singers sang this song the best and why( Judika or Erik Gronwall). This should be a showstopper.
My friend, I see you trying to get my attention. My name is Bill. I am the maker of this video. I would love to check out Judika singing this cover song. I have no problem with that at all. However, I don't care for 'who does it best'. That's a subjective opinion and everybody has their own opinion.
