When i met him in Stockholm for his bookrelease, i had never been on a plane before due to anxiety, Agoraphobia and ptsd, his personality and his voice made my world/live so much bigger, i regained so much freedom, and he gave me such a big hugg.

@shelliadams6554 Not a collaboration between Erik and Dan, but a fan project by Karla Bessa. Very well done, but I personally prefer to listen to Erik and Dan's version separately.
Please stay away from the mash-up with Dan Vasc. It was poorly created by a fan. They never sang Journey together.

I really glad you loved this one. It's one I used to sing a LOT, back in the 70s, and I have always loved Eric Carman's original (yet not quite original) song.
Here's how the song came about...
Why ‘All By Myself’ Sounds Uncannily like Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No.2

In 1975, Russian Composer Sergei Rachmaninov snagged a songwriting credit for a pop ballad written decades after his death! The song in question was the enduringly popular Piano Concerto No.2.
This is because the late American singer-songwriter Eric Carmen’s 1975 smash hit, "All By Myself" features an unlikely collaborator on its list of songwriters.
Rachmaninov -- better known for his amazing piano works and rapturous symphonic writing -- seemingly also turned his hand to power ballads, according to the record’s liner notes. Of course, Rachmaninov had been dead for more than 30 years by the time the song was released.
A classically trained pianist, Carmen had been working on a new solo, writing four bars at a time. After roughly two months, he had a complete piano interlude - he just needed some lyrics to sink into it, to create a whole new song.
During his writing process, Carmen had been listening to Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 2, and as he heard the evocative romanticism of the second movement, inspiration struck.
Rachmaninov’s melody is passed between the piano, flute, and clarinet in his piano concerto, and Carmen used it as the basis for the tune of his verse for ‘All By Myself’.
Using Rachmaninov’s harmonically meandering theme also meant Carmen had to incorporate similar chord patterns beneath his pop melody. It’s an unusual musical feature to hear in a pop song, and one that requires a skilled songwriter, such as Eric Carmen or Sergei Rachmaninov, to bring it all together.
There was a slight problem, however. Although Rachmaninov’s music was in the public domain (meaning that copyright laws no longer applied to it) in the United States, that wasn’t the case in other parts of the world.
After the album’s release, Carmen was contacted by the Rachmaninov estate and together they agreed that, alongside a songwriter credit for Rachmaninov himself, the estate would also receive a 12% share of the royalties made from the song!
That's how the great Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninov came to add a "chart-topping power ballad" to his history of other wonderful musical works. Plus ... he had one of his works performed by the one and only Celine Dion (and plenty of others over the years, as well, including this wonderful, brand new cover by Erik Grönwall.
Unfortunately, Dan has been declaring for a while, now, that he won't be making any more sad ballads. If that weren't the case, I'd be betting that he and Erik might just put this one together as a duet. You never know, though...maybe...one may always dream...right? 🤗😋😄

Holy cow! That was amazing!! Such a talented vocalist he is!! I never listened to Skid Row, but I’ve heard of them, so I didn’t know about Erik individually. He has one of the best voices out there, hands down! The piano was just beautiful, too. It made me really regret not following through on piano lessons when I was younger. And the guitar in this version had kind of a “Queen” vibe to me. So if I’m comparing someone to Brian May, then it doesn’t get much better than that!
