Onboard a 5 year old, Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner registration ZK-NZQ for a night flight across the Pacific. Operated by Air New Zealand, flight NZ24 from Auckland to Vancouver, Canada.
Now I've only done a handful of flights across the Pacific before between Australia and the US. Worth noting on these eastbound flights is the time travel. Departure from Auckland was 20:30 on Saturday 10th Feb. Arriving in Vancouver at midday. Back in time, on Saturday 10th Feb. Crossing the International date line midway over the Pacific ocean and going back in time technically.
A brilliant service offered by Air New Zealand and I was lucky enough to have a "Sky Couch" row. Where all 3 economy seats in the row are reserved and the foot rest folds up fully, to make it a "couch" giving me a lot more space for the 13 hour over night haul. Great entertainment system and the food & beverage service was couldn't be faulted. Even got an extra few glasses of wine from the cabin crew just to keep me going. Brilliant service.
In the video once in the cruise during the night I did video the information sheet regarding the Sky Couch seat, so you can see & understand how it works and what it looks like. Also a good look at the onboard IFE system and the service offered.
Free WiFi on Air NZ meant I was able to track our progress on FlightRadar on my phone as well.
External views aren't much to be desired im afraid. A grey evening leaving Auckland, met by a grey dull morning arriving in Vancouver. So unfortunately not much in the way of scenery. Although some quite nice sunset shots during the climb away from NZ.

We had the Skycouch to and from Vancouver last year. There are 2 of us so we actually don't fit on it lying down, but what we enjoyed was having the 3 seats. So much more room, and no problems with an extra person in the row. We had the isle seat and the window seat with our jackets, books etc in the middle. Much more comfortable. Good food on Air NZ as well and great service.
Great clip - thanks. I've have landed in YVR once in 1975 & again in 1978. I am sure it was so much smaller then (hehe)
Wing view is amazing 👏
Beautiful video ❤
I’m flying 41k (first wide body) home from Sydney to Auckland on Saturday, thank you for showing what the view at seat 41 is like!

Beautiful video man!
AWSOME guys 💯😃
Spent more time looking at the wing . it would of been great to see how other skycouches were used by other passengers
Yes that would go down well. Filming people while they’re asleep on a plane. Try again. 🤔🙄

That’s heading to my home airport YVR Vancouver
Lot of flightdeck crew for a 12 hour flight!
extra two are called the relief crew
One of the worst seat on the 787.
Around middle of the wing/flaps. You gets this really high annoying/insanity inducting high pitch hydraulic noises that will not stop during taxi, take off, approach and landing.
787 is my favorite plane, but I can say, this is the worst thing about this plane, as a passenger lmao.
If you sit behind the wings or near slats/ in front of the engines, basically anywhere except here, you won't hear them or barely if you do.
787 is my least favourite plane. I hate them.
@@TrainPlaneHub more than 737 or the CRJ-200?
That's surprising.
Those noises are my favourite! Lol 787 is such a great aircraft 😍 So comfortable!
Not sure how I feel about flying 13 hours on a boeing - sure an Airbus but boeing.. hmm
Oh don’t be ignorant. Everyone is so quick to jump on the Boeing hate wagon when they’ve been the benchmark for long haul travel for years
@@Kolisii quick jumping like your momma
