"Destiny is an improvement over genesis". Now that's a phrase I never thought i'd hear about Dalek stories XD.
Hopefully this won't be Unbound's only return. I think there could be stories with Eccleston, Tennant, and Jacobi. If David Bradley and the rest ever get back into it, that would be a good opportunity also.
I’d love to see one for Tennant, maybe involving Time Lord Victorious
They have an actor who plays a young war doctor they could do the opposite of this
Imagine the war doctor without the time what would he be like
Destiny was a good box set.
Starting with a 4th Doctor Story that got broken by The Master’s meddling and made Doctor-Lite was a good choice.
Then the crazy civilization that somehow stored other people’s time in a vault like a currency, that was fun to listen to. Especially the part of that story where they were in a fast food kitchen. I literally worked in one of those while listening to this box set, and I was easily immersed in this story at that moment.
Then the final story, and arguably the one that most explains the time war while also bookending it. All five previous stories were so out there because time and history itself had become nothing more than blots when SOMETHING happened, but details are so fuzzy no one really knows. It was elegantly shown in the trailer by use of color filters, different Dalek and location designs using the same basic geometry. And while it’s Deus ex for the writers to just use the guardians to stop the warrior… it makes sense that that’s how you’d stop a Timelord who was once a good man. You’d drag him out of time, influence is actual past, and lock him in an insanity pit of darkness by himself with nothing but the air (listener) around him to talk to
I believe that one way the two box sets take place is that they take place over millions of year for the warrior. This could have been show by instead of showing a younger warrior, Destiny could have shown him now order towards Colin Baker's real age. I hope The Doctor of War continues next year and answer more questions about this unbound Doctor and time war.
Sadly no. The series was two box sets, and was bookended by the story “The Key to Key to Time.” And that story, in my opinion, does the most to explain WHY the five previous stories were so bloody confusing and different from each other despite it being a Time War.
Beevers has been playing the Master for Big Finish forever.
It’s a real shame that these boxsets didn’t do the Unbound Range any justice. I absolutely love Unbound range and been waiting for them to bring this range back for a long time. And what we got was boring homework that no one asked for.
Honestly Big Finish is kinda falling off. If they just make Ranges that fans want rather then doing dartboard idea throwing. We would get better stories. I’m still hoping they continue the Doctor Who Comic Strip Adaptation range!
