Fiction was consolidated as a form of literature and a beginning was made by Daniel Defoe with his first novel
"Robinson Crusoe" written in 1719. He is truly 'Father of English Novel'
Henry Fielding wrote his first novel "Joseph Andrews"
in 1742. Scott called him 'Father of English novel'. He is,
in fact, 'Father of Modern English novel'
