having shadowbite replace that banger ass flip is so cruel. it's like when i was leveling monk and i lost howling fist at 74; that flying punch is one of my favorite moves to do
I got sick of healing the tier (Scholar) after all of the stress clearing it week 2 in PF so I decided to switch to Machinist since it's flashy and pretty fun, and I've been having an incredible time! I don't vibe too much with the other phys ranged because of all of the procs, and MCH has a really solid mitigation toolkit that allows them to sort of play like a tank and really get involved in the fight. MCH being an aDPS job, the FFLogs damage chart is also just a suggestion. Party buffs are very strong right now because of Viper and Picto, but even without, when you take into account the average performance that people in your group are likely to have, I really like the ability to just focus on what I'm doing and turn off my healer brain. There was at least one clear of M3S where I singlehandedly carried the entire DPS side because of how much people were dying, and if I was any other phys range, it would not have been even close to a clear. Been finish top 1 or 2 in DPS every time regardless, with my... two weeks of experience? I think we'll have to see how badly the lower top DPS potential will hurt MCH when FRU gets here, but I love the consistency and versatility of the job and it's the first time I've truly enjoyed a DPS job. I'd highly recommend people give it a shot! Great video!
I noticed that the raidwides and stacks are usually spaced apart such that using a single raidwide mitigation can at best be used every other attack, but bard having nature's minne can actually cover all of them if spaced correctly.
Honestly yeah, the dancer in my static trialed our viper as DP over me as Samurai and the damage we both lost was 3x the DPS the viper gained. Plus, dancer has the problem of some people being bitter that they aren't dance partner, whether it's because they aren't geared as well, or there's just straight up a better option available (Samurai or Picto)
Dancer is easy to learn and fun to use too, especially if wearing a robe or dress to see your character spin and swish around, murdering and looking fantastic doing it.
Always value your knowledge on these. Out of the 3 i still love machinist the most. But im starting really enjoy dancer and bard for their own strengths. Look forward to tank versus 💪🏻 *omnitank main*
All really even actually. Seems like each one has its strength making them a touch situational. DNC is great if you know you have a strong partner to lean on! MCH having two strong defensive options is great especially for parties that may struggle with mitigation. BRD is a great all-rounder pick. Now if only phys ranged didn’t feel like it was only brought along cause daddy Yoshi P said we had to bring our little brother along. As a DNC main currently Tanking cause that’s what my static needed, it just feels bad man.
Kills me because I really love DNC, but I'm always in PF so it's such a crapshoot for me. I know I should play MCH, but whenever I do, I'm always longing for my DNC
@@cailee9820 I feel like the variance is not enough to justify playing a job you aren’t feeling so stay on DNC. Picking and choosing is only helpful if you’re comfortable on all jobs you’d be choosing.

i cannot fathom why they haven't let auto crossbow charge the ogcds literally do that, make air anchor an aoe like chainsaw, and add back bishop and it'd be fine. that's literally 1 extra button to press on a job that doesn't have that many buttons anyway
Dancer is easy to pick up but I think it's really rewarding to master it and really have control over your priority system, but I agree it needs stronger support skills

I've always though Bard is the most WoW-like job FFXIV has. It has a single button filler ability and everything else is either a proc, cooldown/buff, maintenance/DoT, or resource spender. Every button has it's own purpose and it doesn't have anything that is simply "use this ability only so that you can use the next ability". I honestly wish we had a melee that played like Bard. I enjoy how it plays I'm just not a big fan of physrange as a role, or Bard as a aesthetic.
As a baby MCH main (was just starting into ShB when DT dropped) - thank you for not mentioning the usual PRanged talking points. It's crazy disheartening to want to play the job I love while constantly hearing about rDPS and all the rest making it seem barely worth picking.
I just like MCH because when someone repositions the boss I'm already moving while doing damage. I played as BLM and it is very painful in roulettes with unexperienced (or experienced and greedy) tanks. I do like DNC, but it seems when there is a ninja or SAM in the group, whichever I pick as partner will do the worst. I give up on caring about that in roulettes.
Amazing video Mr happy can’t wait until you do the casters bc I’m a caster main and want to see what’s your take on casters even tho I only have two max out atm still need smn and rdm but rdm is still 50 atm
Did you try bard first time EW/DT? It flowed extremely well from the opener onwards in ShB but the opener or rotation in general's flow has been messy since EW. I've chosen to ignore the meta or tweak it so it still flows and feels smooth cuz the meta opener just feels so bad and clunky.
Dancer for prog is insane value. You barely have to think about your rotation which gives me room to call mechanics for the group. Idk if I could ever do that on Bard without constantly dropping dots.
personally id have picked mch for its ease of use and high return. the bard buff is also met by mch having tactician. bard would be my least recommended because of how stressful the job is + mecanics
Honestly, rather than saying there's 1 best phys ranged job, it might have been better to state the best phys range job for each kind of content. In solo content like PotD or duty finder, Mch being able to solo play from ranged without and cast time makes them perfect for playing when your team is not that trustworthy. However, in dungeons where there's more mobbing, Mch will definitely lose out a little. So Mch is the best in solo content. On the other hand, Dnc would be the best in raid due to their easier recovery from being killed as well as having the ability to just dash around to cover for mistakes or being able to heal on top of shield. Especially for fights where there's a downtime where bosses aren't around, improv truly shine there with the shield on top of heals. The fact that Dnc is heavily reliant on their partner is both a pro and a con, cause it also means that, if you get a good team, like a prepare static or just a cautious PF team, you will shine more than the other 2 in terms of the damage buff you provide. So Dnc would be the best in Raid content. Bard is really the jack of all trades here, being able to do well in most content (hence the "best" in this video), but in terms of raid, they suffer from song downtime if they die during the start of a new song. They also suffer overall dps drop if any party member dies, unlike Dnc's dance partner or when a party member dies during Technical step. So in a sense Bard is just as reliant as Dnc on party dps. In terms of casual content like dungeons, Bards can't apply dots on all enemies nor refresh them all at 1 go even if you apply them manually. So they do suffer in terms of aoe compared to Dnc, but does better than Mch. In a sense Bards are like the middle ground between the 2, which make them a good pick for solo content as well as a good pick in a inexperienced party, hence it might give it an overall higher score, but definitely not the best pick for all content. At least this is just from my opinion from playing all 3, having been a Bard main in ARR to SB, and Dnc main from ShB to current, while playing Mch in between for savage clears when I bored of my main.
I'd say MCH is best in pugs, where theres a decent chance youre not playing with people who can optimally do their rotation for 6+ mins, as BRD and DNC's raid buffs would get kinda wasted. But in a static environment with people who can play consistently well, BRD and DNC bring more damage to the party as a whole.
Mch is ok on average skill level and if you do solo pf. But in high skill level party’s it’s by far the worst DPS and Dancer the opposite to it require a good party to shine
you knock dancer down because of bad team mates... thats like saying a car is worse because parts are more expensive. Also the only time this really matters is savage, if your partner is dying all the time in savage then you have bigger problems.
It's a practical list, you will not always be in the perfect conditions to play a job. Jobs don't exist in a white room, they exist within a video game you play with other people that gets messy at time. Also people wipe all the time in Savage, it's called progging. And even after all the fights are basically "solved" you still get clueless players looking for a PF group to essentially carry them to a clear.
They don't have positionals of the melee, they don't have cast times like the mages. They have the most freedom to move around. So to compensate for all those advantages, they get slightly lower DPS.
@@Deode-d4h None of those things are that big of an advantage given that positionals require only slight jukes across the diagonal between rear and flank, and given that most bosses have hitboxes the size of Alaska nowadays so even melees can hit them from most places in an arena. Melees also get gap closers for the few times a boss actually does move out of range. So imo the dps disparity should not be as big as it is.
DNC do get hurt when your party is not playing correctly, but assuming on the *right* situation where people are not fking up, it is the best one, it has the best support and does more for the party. Dismantle is not that big of a deal and aoe is only relevant for... roulletes?
Dismantle is just a 2nd mitigation to be used at the same time as another phys ranges mit so they don't overlap. Unless the game has been made that easy, in Savage min iLvl no echo an unmitigated AoE can kill everyone but the tanks. You wouldn't notice in a try hard static with discord callouts when mitigation is perfect 100% of the time though.
@@BigChilla420 Ideally you wouldn't have 2 pranged on the same group. Dismantle is not a need, there is no such a thing as NEEDING a dismantle over the usual mitigations that every job already have, yeah it is a plus and it can help, but I don't see it like a game changer
@@Cherryblossoms110 Done all of them but uwu and ucob. There is no such mechanic that requires extra mit besides what we already have for role actions (addle/feint/pranged mit), that makes dismantle an extra flavour but skippable, and yes I do play as mch so I know what I'm talking about
Yet machine has terrible dps compared to all range. I prefer a dancer because at least it provide party buffs even though it lacks the damage. Yes Machine does more damage but it also lacks party buffs. The statistics say otherwise and the fact its the lowest picking range job right now as they screwed that class over.
I know DNC always been objectively more meta DPS wise but I just prefer BRD. I don't wanna pick favourites and hate discriminating against the non meta jobs. Nothing feels weirder than getting dance partner mid fight cuz the original dance partner died. Feels like DNC artificially pumps up one particular persons numbers too, this RPR was far more geared than my VIP but I out aggro them until the DNC remembered to partner.
Well... yeah? That's the point of dancer to hyper buff one player. And of course a Viper should be outdpsing a RPR, Viper is the overpowered selfish dps right now.
@@Theutubedudeyoyeah and its lame. Just buff the whole party. And nah they had savage gear bro and VIP with better gear AND a TOP weapon they obviously bought got partnered and I'm out DPSing them too Dancer just pick favourites based of frivolous things and numbers when theres usually a better player in the party thats why I stick with BRD to buff em all.
I get what you're saying and VIP need some tuning after its DoT was completely removed (not something I think was the right move) but that RPR didn't leave the party after I out aggro them for no reason. They weren't trying to keep up with DPS getting themselves killed to the point where dancer has to take away partner and give it to me I don't like it its messy and cause drama.
aggro has absolutely nothing to do with damage the easiest case in point for this was BLM in EW, they were always behind other DPS in enmity but always dealing the most
In all honesty, after escaping the M2S party finder hell, I can safely say that bard is the worst of these. DNC can adapt to mechs or other players fucking up mechs faster and better and MCH can put up mit when the shield healer forgets to do so or is WAY too new to raiding. BRD might have the highest rDps depending on the comp, but DNC and MHC have the best tools for the mechs of this tier. M2S is literally the perfect tester to show just what jobs really help in the current raid tier. I'd say that SMN is probably the worst atm since for SOME REASON I have had an ungodly amount of these players failing mechs. Like a very ridiculous number of fails. Even BLMs run circles around SMNs, it's quite depressing.
After trying to survive in PF this tier, even in M4S reclears with suppose better player quality, MCH is still the best option, I can press my button like a monkey and casually parse a 90+, for BRD/DNC, stars have to align for that to happen, and stars almost never align in shitty PF.
I say MCH is best because roleplaying as a missile cruiser is peak joy. I get to show everyone how free I am, and how I can spread my freedom everywhere.
The devs just got lazy on working with MCH and DRK this expansion. I feel like they should have just made Wildfire just like trick attack or Mug. Also MCH aoe is just straight up garbage and yeah disjointed. I mean cmon, you got flamethrower and youre not spraying Napalm oil on your enemies instead we got to spray them with poison? Also why not just make "bio blaster" work like wildfire as well for multiple targets so auto crossbow deals more damage.
...actually, Bard has the absolute worst personal damage out of literally every DPS class You can especially feel the difference because the buffs make everybody else so much stronger that sometimes you'll even get knocked down to dealing less damage than a tank... Maybe even both tanks... I feel the largest benefit of Bard is that you get to take advantage of support's DPS, which tends to be way more consistent because their rotations are easier to do and easier to associate with fight timeline (and tank privilege) And the fact that you're giving them the DHR they're always deprived of increases their damage output by volumes, especially for DRK
Melee next for sure. Not sure there is a point doing anything for casters before 7.1 because I am praying for some balancing. Or just change Summoners role to RPhys lol
Very cool yeah gatekeep any one trying to get better at the game if I see healer waiting 3 hours to do easy af DT Ex1/Ex2 I don't join and help I just let em sit there. I guarantee you people think the same bout DPS n don't want you stinking up their log runs.
@@BigChilla420 bro chill? You're reading way too much into this lmao Im just some random dude playing the video game not a top raider i cant gatekeep shit. Live up to your youtube tag and actually big chillax
bard bores me personally, its songs lack punch. ARR brd songs felt better, they directly helped the party than just 1-2% of secondary dmg stat they are now, meh. "Mage's Ballad" doesnt even assist mages anymore, why is even still called that?
Yep, this is the real truth. It's not even worth the 1% buff for having a phys ranged. If you have a good PCT and BLM, that will be higher total raid damage. The only gain you get is also 1% hp.
As a Bard main since Shadowbringers I have existed solely to go against the Meta whether it be ShB DNC or DT double caster PCT/BLM composition and I'm fine with it. The 5% is trivial and most people don't LB until after their whole burst window is done anyway due to logging. And like the dude above me says it's not like theres ever been a single fight ever where the DPS check wasn't met cuz I'm on BRD or phys range, it's just that other comps are "faster".
They really gotta find a way to reduce the damage difference on Ranged Phys (and Healers) because theyre really fading out into obscurity, because as bosses move around more... Caster Melee and Tanks get rewarded for uptime.. and Ranged Phys has nothing reducing uptime, to this day (and Healer is painfully easy so it doesnt deserve high damage) IDK what they can do, maybe limit the reach of certain moves, maybe Bard should actually get some cast times back, maybe on Songs, or big shots like Apex Arrow. Or MCH can get some close range and maybe even maximum range skills, where you need to be a certain distance away, like a Sniper skill. DNC could have skills that you need to be near your Dance Partner to execute. Just certain things that require the role to be aware of their positioning and manage uptime in the same way everyone else does. Its the single thing holding them back, its getting to the point, where the 1% boost is almost not even worth it. MCH especially, i dont think anyone feels good about MCH being in a party. It always feels like a wasted slot. It doesnt matter in content, but the FEELING of being negligible is BAD.
In PvP they have a "sort of casting" thing for MCH and BRD main damage skill that lets them slow walk while using it, I'd love to see this show up in PvE in the future.
@@noamonoch as nice as that sounds, it can actually be a pain cause you can get caught just slwo walking when you're trying to get out of a mechanic/AOE and you know people will try to greed as much dps as possible. And since you can't cancel the action, you're just stuck in it until it goes off, which yes the cast isn't long but being a bard player in both PVE and PVP, I've been jumped hard in PVP because I decided to push for one more Powerful Shot instead of backing off.
@@Vaeltis True, not being able to cancel it actually makes it more restrictive than casts in some ways, I hadn't thought of that! IMO I'd rather see it implemented for hard hitting GCDs with cooldowns like Apex Arrow or Chainsaw rather than on every filler skill
Im sorry? Did he just say that machinist has no movement tools? Maybe not like a backeards jump like bard, but i sit here looking at peloton thinking, this is movement tool?
MCH my fav but dont like its aoes either. point blank stationary dmg pulse aoe Flamethrower meh, replace it with ground targeting landmine and make same button detonate it to have lingering aoe, like wildfire into detonator. Speaking of, Wildfire should be an aoe too, its literally a bundle of dynamite sticks. using Auto-crossbow should finally reduce the CD of Ricochet/Checkmate. All mech Queen attacks be fall off aoe dmg.
I, for one, am willing to sacrifice the Machinist and Dancer jobs as a whole to bring back the time where Ballad resstored MP and Lucid Dreaming didn't exist.

If they removed empyreal arrow i would love bard. I hate that ability and having to keep track of such a short cd
I just want some changes so ping doesn't toally F* you over. Like make Wildfire/Hyper charges stack based not timer based.
I don't really want to see the Wanderer's Paean....and imagining it will give me nightmares, thanks Haps. (sorry, I had to)
Me as MCH thinks DNC is the best. (please partner me)
i just want another empyreal arrow lol
You forgot to include SMN
I dont get why the physical ranged jobs are so weak!
They don't have positionals of the melee, they don't have cast times like the mages. They have the most freedom to move around. So to compensate for all those advantages, they get slightly lower DPS.
@@Deode-d4h "slightly"
@@Deode-d4h None of those things are that big of an advantage given that positionals require only slight jukes across the diagonal between rear and flank, and given that most bosses have hitboxes the size of Alaska nowadays so even melees can hit them from most places in an arena. Melees also get gap closers for the few times a boss actually does move out of range. So imo the dps disparity should not be as big as it is.
@@AndyAnonymous Well, go and ask a dev then why phys ranged is that low on DPS. All I shared was what I've heard from the community.
dnc aoes and mch single target absolutely slap.
brd dmg however yeah its rather.....odd.
I've been playing Bard since ARR and pronouncing Warden's Paean wrong *the whole time*. We learn something new every day?
Not so Secret tech for machinist ping proglems - noclippy
::cries in Machinist::
MCH is arguably the best pranged dps you can bring into ultimates because of Dismantle, it’s just that much better than improv and nature’s minne.
I'm guessing you've never done ultimates
@@Cherryblossoms110 Done all of them but uwu and ucob.
There is no such mechanic that requires extra mit besides what we already have for role actions (addle/feint/pranged mit), that makes dismantle an extra flavour but skippable, and yes I do play as mch so I know what I'm talking about
BRD mains rejoice!
Yet machine has terrible dps compared to all range. I prefer a dancer because at least it provide party buffs even though it lacks the damage. Yes Machine does more damage but it also lacks party buffs. The statistics say otherwise and the fact its the lowest picking range job right now as they screwed that class over.
Wooo go Bard!
They weren't trying to keep up with DPS getting themselves killed to the point where dancer has to take away partner and give it to me I don't like it its messy and cause drama.
aggro has absolutely nothing to do with damage
the easiest case in point for this was BLM in EW, they were always behind other DPS in enmity but always dealing the most
As much as I like bard the picto in my group loves dance partner too much to say no.
Nuff said
In all honesty, after escaping the M2S party finder hell, I can safely say that bard is the worst of these.
Melee would be nice
Bard ftw!
TLDR bard wins, still playing dancer tho. ggwp
Fine, I'll give it to Bard winning. But i'll hold strong that DNC is great and only loses cuz other players will mess you up. 🤣
Also Bard can use Instruments to play music. So it's also the best RP class.
...actually, Bard has the absolute worst personal damage out of literally every DPS class
You can especially feel the difference because the buffs make everybody else so much stronger that sometimes you'll even get knocked down to dealing less damage than a tank...
Maybe even both tanks...
I feel the largest benefit of Bard is that you get to take advantage of support's DPS, which tends to be way more consistent because their rotations are easier to do and easier to associate with fight timeline (and tank privilege)
And the fact that you're giving them the DHR they're always deprived of increases their damage output by volumes, especially for DRK
Melee next for sure. Not sure there is a point doing anything for casters before 7.1 because I am praying for some balancing. Or just change Summoners role to RPhys lol
MCH
Tbh phys ranged kinda just suck rn lol
Its viper duh!
Hypercharge ping problems go away with one....ahem...tool
Happy: MCH is the only one with a designated mitigation.
Bards: *Sad Troubadour noises*
"REALLY FEELS POWERFUL" buddy there wasent a single 100k crit. They're all bad and need buffs
Right now bard is the only phys ranged im remotely interested in playing
And even then, i wont play dps jobs unless im with healers i trust
Very cool yeah gatekeep any one trying to get better at the game if I see healer waiting 3 hours to do easy af DT Ex1/Ex2 I don't join and help I just let em sit there. I guarantee you people think the same bout DPS n don't want you stinking up their log runs.
@@BigChilla420 bro chill? You're reading way too much into this lmao
Im just some random dude playing the video game not a top raider i cant gatekeep shit.
DNC
BRD
My raid leader asked me to never press repelling shot all tier and the one time I pressed it on M4, I died so... Yeah don't press that button.
the true answer is picto
They're all bad, the end. Role is only taken at endgame because the 5% role buff exists.
Would rather have a good DNC for 2 minutes windows or a MCH than a BLM or SMN tbh
Not only that, but in my experience a majority of phys range players are just really bad at the game too.
Yep, this is the real truth. It's not even worth the 1% buff for having a phys ranged. If you have a good PCT and BLM, that will be higher total raid damage. The only gain you get is also 1% hp.
Implying the game isn't baby shit soft easy and can't be cleared by anything that isn't the absolute top end of damage jobs.
Caster Melee and Tanks get rewarded for uptime.. and Ranged Phys has nothing reducing uptime, to this day (and Healer is painfully easy so it doesnt deserve high damage)
IDK what they can do, maybe limit the reach of certain moves, maybe Bard should actually get some cast times back, maybe on Songs, or big shots like Apex Arrow.
@@noamonoch I don't know a lot about this since i didn't play back then but i know in ARR and HW bard and machinist indeed used casts for their skills
No, tanks and melees don't get rewarded for uptime, they get punished for dropping uptime, and quite often get punished for trying to get uptime.
Peleton can’t be used in combat
Machinist has no movement tools inside of combat while Dancer has 3 dashes and Bard can jump backwards
You can't use peloton in combat though.
peloton is non-combat only, also it's a role action so all phys-ranged have it
Petition to make Peloton useable in combat like Sch expediance
MCH my fav but dont like its aoes either.
point blank stationary dmg pulse aoe Flamethrower meh, replace it with ground targeting landmine and make same button detonate it to have lingering aoe, like wildfire into detonator.
Speaking of, Wildfire should be an aoe too, its literally a bundle of dynamite sticks.
using Auto-crossbow should finally reduce the CD of Ricochet/Checkmate.
All mech Queen attacks be fall off aoe dmg.
I, for one, am willing to sacrifice the Machinist and Dancer jobs as a whole to bring back the time where Ballad resstored MP and Lucid Dreaming didn't exist.
then in light party pugs, healers MP would struggle without matching up with MCH/DNC MP regen skill
