My first gun was a 62a back in 1968 when I was 12 years old. I loved that gun but I lost track of it over the years and I know my brother sold it at some point. I asked my local gun shop if they had a gallery gun in stock just last week on a whim and, sure enough, they dug out a 62a from somewhere in the back storage area. It was worn and the action was gummed up from sitting and it has some rust but seeing it was like getting to be 12 years old again. It's mine now. I tore it down and honed and buffed all the sliding parts and polished out the rust and it's going to the range tomorrow. 🤗
My Winchester 62 was passed down to me by my father. I can't tell you how many cans and bottles I have shot with it. Later in life I used it to squirrel hunt. Always figured if missed it was my fault not the rifles. I still have it and love that little gun.
I have one that I bought a garage sale 20 years ago that looked like brand new.. The lady said her husband only shot the .22 shot shells. Critter control she said... I've never shot it... Maybe someday...
Question, I have a very simular rifle bit i cant seem to figure out its exact model - all features tell me it should be a 62A - however mar barrel is labels as follows: WINCHESTER - model 62 - (underneath that) -TRADE MARK- 22 S.L. OR L.R. - (SERIAL# 204XXX) --- I might need to bring it down to you. Oddly I grew up right down the road from you.
I just aquired one from my father as of his death last week. Mine does not have a flat butt at the end of the stock it is curved. Cannot find the year of the rifle online. I am seeing it could be pre 1900
I inherited one of these from my grandfather, only thing that it has ever needed was rebluing absolutely phenomenal rifle, more reliable than my 10/22

I have a Winchester Model 62 pump action made in 1940.
