This is awesome! I did a month long backpacking trip last summer and brought along a few art supplies to paint while I was on trail. It was so fun! Love your setup!

These are all great suggestions! Grey brush marker and micron pen are my favorite two items I have added to this kit since making the video! Watercolor is my favorite when hiking but it gets tricky backpacking as most of my water is set aside for hiking and cooking! Maybe on a trail with strong creeks and streams!

I live in a very rural community. Last year I was invited to join an art society in a leadership position and now I’m preparing for the summer with community arts events. Your sketch n sip ideas sound fantastic. Would you be willing to elaborate on what you did to market that, what sort of event it was (free byo? Small entry cost?), and also and classes you are running for your local area. I’m the only trained artist in this area but there are a lot of people who are interested in having creative outlets. I’d love to pick your brain on this if you’d be willing to share.

Hey! These are all such great questions. I need to do a video where I feature more about Sip N Sketch and what Art on the Farm is but ill give you the quick deal here it was a promotional program I did in partnership with a winery at the organic lavender farm I teach at. It was a way to showcase a sampling of their wines and the way I teach to a relatively new audience (I started this art school in September of last year)
Originally the course was going to be a small fee similar to that of local Sip N Paint type sessions near me but I didn't get any takers and decided to make it for free. I think this was good, it helped me engage more with the existing audience for the farm and actually ask what the needs are of the community directly.
I'll go more into detail about the classes im offering near me in my next video! Let me know if you have more questions and I'll try to add those in to a future vid too!

I love this! I am always looking for ideas to streamline my art supplies for travel journaling! Your art is beautiful! I am inspired to add gauche to my travel set.

Thanks Kelly! Finding that perfect set to have a studio anywhere is a dream. And I appreciate your kind words! I want to do a longer nerdy video about gouache because it really is my favorite material ever.

Hi! I was recommended this video and enjoyed it! That travel set is a really cool idea! Since you wanted questions and you mentioned having been involved in galleries, I was wondering what the process is like? I have done some art majoring but never reached the gallery stuff, and I am a bit lost on how that process of applying? works and the whole system. It's something I have been considering lately as an extra incentive to get back into working with traditional medium and build a body of work, but i have no idea even the first thing about galleries.

Hey @theRupertmcgee, im glad you found me through recommendations! TH-cam is magic. This is an amazing question! I'll definitely share more nitty gritty details but I was more involved in the Artist-Run gallery system, so shows and spaces run by other artists at first. I also applied for shows at various nonprofits in my area because anything I paid for exhibition fees went to their mission of supporting artists through grants and other initiatives.
Keep an eye out for my next video, I'll go deep! cheers!

@@MelMitchJackArt Hi thank you! I watched it but wasn't able to finish watching the other day when it was uploaded because of some major distractions on my end (mostly a sick cat in need of a lot of extra attention, but he's getting better!). I'll rewatch from the beginning soon. I really appreciate your answers and insight and hopefully I'll be able to watch everything and fully comment soon!
