I love this song so much... My hometown brothers.. They use to be called Kinsman Dazz. After a major street here. Also they were the highlight of Kinsman Bar and Grill. A show bar here as well. In the late 70s and some of the 80s. Then they went to the larger stage. I just love my brothers❤🎤🎼🎶🎶🎶
Man great memories with this timeless classic. When my now husband and I were dating long distance he sand this sond to me. I played it OUT! This will always be special to us. Thanks Dazz Band for the great music.
All of us from C-Town can more than feel this one! I was 14 when this one came out, & I distinctly remember always looking forward it to be played on the original "For Lover's Only" w/the LEGENDARY J. Charles! This one, is a must add to any music connoisseur's playlist!
93FM WZAK For Lovers Only ....Cleveland Heights/ University Heights my stomping grounds back in the day old school music as we would say slow jamz!!! all my C-town fam much love. this take me way back.... damn they used to play music on the radio at night after 7pm and roll out slow jamz back to back. You would have to grab a cassette to record ( Old School heads feel me) new jams lmao.
93 WZAK!!!!! FOR LOVER ONLY WAS THE BEST!!!!! Live in Cambridge, Ohio back 1983 to 1985. Could barely get it, had rig up all kinda antennas to pick it up. LOL. So funny to see that about WZAK on here. Good ole days.
Listening to this brings back so many memories. My Uncle Fella passed away on March 5, 2022 and he sang The Dazz Band songs all the time. I was even his dance partner as a little girl, he would spin me around and throw me in the air. I'll miss you greatly Fella! 😢 Sing with the angels and watch over us all.
I love this song so much, it makes me want to fall in love. .. Its amazing how music like this can move your inner emotions.. Everytime I hear this song I get goose bumps. 5/15/15
YESSSSS!!! This was the song guys waited for to asked that girl to dance. Times were so different and women R&B songstress were still singing about loving their man too. this is just one of the many Dazz Band Love songs. I was in the 7th grade when knock knock came out, but I have siblings 10 & 11 years older than me so I was surrounded by the classic, funk soul of this time. So Glad!!!!!
I got hooked on this song in 1984 at the Front Row in Cleveland, and when this song started it was a spotlight on the sax only everything else was dark and then he said another night and the women went wild it was a magic monent
I'm still listening dazz band...2021..i'll never stop listening to real genuine baby making never duplicated rnb!!!!! This generation has no clue !!!!!!
What a difference in time, from now to bak in the day....you just dont hear the quality of songs that were made back then, today! All real, no synthysizers, computers,etc...real music on stage, pure harmony, and for real songwriting that made the baby boomer generation!!! Were almost gone....but the music will live on ..FOREVER!!!!
I'm from Philly however I adopted the Dazz Band as our own love this band the 70s and 80s when music touched the heart of a man and the soul of a woman 😊
I'M FROM THE CLEVELAND AREA AND GREW UP LISTING TO SKIP MARTIN, AND THE DAZZ BAND. THIS IS ONE OF MANY COLD SLOW JAMS. REPPIN FOR 216, 440, AND THE 330.
I to was at the FRONT Row Theater that was an Awesome Concert I was so proud of our towns group. I was screaming and so proud of Cleveland's own singing group! love all their Albums.
Yes one of my favorite group from my hometown Cleveland l love this old school music it made you wanna love some body..nowadays r&b is not the same ...
CUH-LEEVE-VUH-LAND!!!!! HARVARD Ave! Used to listen to them rehearse when I was a kid. Been to a few Levert rehearsals too. (Pre- “Pop Pop” and “Casanova”).
I just wished i could have heard a duet with Sennie ' Skip' Martin and Aretha Franklin!! I think pairing their voices together on a song would've been a big hit. Singing a great love ballad wow...
I fell in love with this song when I saw them in concert at the front row in 1984 they turned all the lights down except a spotlight on the sax playing, and then he hit that note another night I still remeber it like it was yesterday
The Best group ever The Dazz Band from Cleveland Ohio their songs had a message yes when they are from home they was sharp look good could sing the band was Fantastic Yes Dazz had Jazz the Band was the Man
@@andremoseley8339 EWF and the Dazz Band have a close connection. The first two hits for the Dazz Band when they were known as Kinsman Dazz were produced by Phillip Bailey. Then they tied for a Grammy. Let it Whip (Dazz Band) and I want to be with you (EWF). Love both groups but EWF catalog is ridiculous.
are you serious..??? I forgot Ihad this cassette in high skool..wore it out..I am 50 now..and starting a new chapter in my life..and the new lady gets this forwarded to her..with every ounce of feeling..that was intended... truly appreciate...bringing back ..just a little..of the youth..we all passed through... B-)
I am a Musician and currently Produce Artist in and around the Metro Detroit area. Just wanted to share some of my knowledge and my love for probably my favorite band - The Dazz Band... I fell in love with them ( KINSMAN DAZZ ) from the first time I heard them - I gave them a listen when I saw that they were produced by Phillip Bailey of my favorite group at that time - EWF... I MIGHT AS WELL FORGET ABOUT LOVING YOU had me hooked... Not only did it have that EWF/P. Bailey influence... I fell in love with Kenny Pettus, who sang most of the lead vocals b4 Skip joined the group... His falsetto was off the chains awesome and his natural voice was great also.. I feel he could have fronted any singing group during that era... Their next album with Kenny singing CATCHING UP ON LOVE only made me love them even more... On their next album I think Pierre DeMudd came on board, and just like Kenny he had me hooked with his awesome falsetto and also could have fronted any singing group ... But when I heard Skip Martin on that same album and they became THE DAZZ BAND, they officially became my favorite band. Skip's voice was just so smooth and strong, he basically became their main lead vocalist. Even though I definitely love me some Kenny and Pierre, you could not deny Skip's ability... Now throughout the years until now, I have had some bands that was just about on the DAZZ BAND / EWF level such as Pleasure / The Time / Cameo / Prince and a few others, but to me only MINT CONDITION had me feeling the way DAZZ / EWF did. I think it was all those amazing vocals that put DAZZ over the top... Skip / Kenny / Pierre along with the other guys helping on backgrounds, made them unstoppable... I saw them live and they were just as good vocally or better than the albums... The band with Skip and Pierre on trumpet, Bobby Harris on sax along with Kenny on percussion was just crazy... Everyone played an instrument and just about everybody helped out singing background vocals, once again that was just crazy... Even though they had some great uptempo songs LET IT WHIP was by far their most successful song commercially and radio airplay, but I think they had the best ballads ever. If their record label or marketing dept. could have recognized and exploited the ballads they recorded, they could have been mega, mega superstars... Man I could comment forever on my boys, but would like to hear if anybody else feels like I do about the most underrated group in the history of music - THE DAZZ BAND ....... let me hear from you ...
Upnorf Entertainment I agree! Skip is AWESOME and still sounds great today!! The Dazz Band is VERY UNDERRATED and their slow jams did NOT get the air play they deserved. I put Dazz Band's slow songs up against ANY other band's slow jams from the 80's! They are just as good as Cameo's slow jams in my opinion.
what happened to this type of talent? When you had to know how to sing, ,write, and play some type of instrument, I hope REALLY ARTIST WOULD RETURN TO MUSIC!!!!!!!
The Dazz Band is best known for it's Grammy award winning hit "Let It Whip", However, true fans of the group remember their soulful ballads that consisted of; Dazz Intro Knock Knock. Heartbeat.
