My Daughter, Grandson and I were in the audience of TKAM back in Aug. 2019. One of the best nights of my life. Everyone in it was Great ! I also got to see Jeff many years ago with my late husband at our local theater. We loved his singing and humor. I have an autographed CD. LOVE---Blue Valiant !! We live about 1/2 hr from Jeff, so we have always been very interested in him. Such a talented man...... We also got to see a Stephen Colbert taping !!! What great memories !!!

I never really paid attention to Jeff Daniels until I saw that newsroom speech. Then I went back and watched a movie I never watched before dumb and dumber and started paying attention to Jeff. Now I can’t get enough of listening to how smart and what a good guy he is. It's actually really interesting (to me at least), Sorkin, the writer of the show, hated how that scene was received. He didn't mean it as a "wake up America, and look how bad it is" he was writing from the position of a guy having a breakdown (Daniel's character). I'm glad it worked as both, but its interesting to me how Sorkin eventually did not like the scene. I know it's what sold me on the show.

      Better in what way?
I think personally this is the beginning of the end. You can go on about social victories, eliminating racism, propping up the poor into a better quality of life etc., but there's a storm coming that ain't looking good for humanity as a whole.
We are on the verge of a complete breakdown in climate, we are beginning to separate from global political unions while places like Russia and China plant seeds of doubt and influence the morons of our cultures to sabotage us from the inside out.
Every voice is countered with a louder more idiotic one with no rational thought, our kids can't read an analog clock or do anything without asking google ahead of time, our food security is crumbing under the weight of a population explosion that started 70 years ago along with weather that destroys entire crops. Commercial fishing is less than 2 decades from a complete collapse because there's no biomass left from decades of exploitation. We're about to fight wars over water and food, it's no longer fuel that's the issue.
We rely on billionaires that have exploited millions of people, the environment and our way of thinking to be our social crusaders and vessels of change. Do you really think it's a good idea to let rich people lead our communities and countries the way they see fit? Why wouldn't our governments be doing this for the people by the people? I personally think it's too much power to let Gates or Musk and the likes to be making these decisions for us.
We are in a mess and winning racism debates and feeding the poor soup is not the real issue here, so I think it's going to keep getting worse exponentially from my point of view.

Our soul and spirit once we die leaves our body and either goes to (heaven are hell). God in his (love) only made one way to be saved and changed, only one way to be made totally pure in his sight, and only one way to enter heaven instead of hell( through heart faith and acceptance of Jesus Christ and what he did at Calvarys cross long ago alone). We must be willing to leave our darkness our sinful ways and come to the light ( understanding God has nothing for sale ). Everything from God from A thru Z) comes only by faith for free, through the cross, where Christ died long ago for you and me) rather it's salvation, forgiveness, healing, diilverance over sinful things etc) Romans 6 vs 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God, a gift is freely received, is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord ( through Jesus Christ and what he did at Calvarys cross long ago alone for our sins and salvation). Salvation is simple) Romans 10 vs 13 says Whosoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved ( We just humbly call on God in prayer (from the heart by faith in humble repentance) realizing we guilty sinners that lie and think lustful thoughts worthy of hell, really wanting to be saved and changed) Admitting God I'm a guilty sinner that lies and thinks lustfuls thoughts worthy of hell, please save my soul, through what your only Son Jesus Christ did at Calvarys cross long ago for my sins and salvation, I need the risen king as Savior and Lord) (than instantly) if we truly reaching out by faith from the heart to Jesus Christ and what he did at Calvarys cross long ago alone in humble repentance) we saved , forgiven, made totally pure by Christ blood, given by God's spirit a change of heart, granted heaven instead of hell, and because of our heart faith and acceptance of Jesus Christ and what he did at Calvarys cross long ago alone, we than become dead to the old person we use to be ruled by the sin nature that nature to sin in us, and we than become a new person on the inside, alive unto God spiritually speaking, risen with Christ, as a new creature in Christ 2nd corthians5vs17 ( and we get this and keep it the same way) not through deeds ( but through our heart faith and acceptance of Jesus Christ and what he did at Calvarys cross long ago alone ( on utube watch sbn live) people make fun of Christian's and hate them that just the way it is)

honestly, I think it is quite naive to think there has ever been a single moment in history when you could say "there's good in everyone".
"Everyone" means everyone. Take 3000 years ago. Less human beings around but, oh, come on, there must have been some completely nasty people also then. It is so naive to think that people are getting so much worse now... it is just that we can be aware of that, now, while a long ago you just knew "that crazy guy from down the road" in your tiny village where you spent your whole life. Now, if you live in Italy, you can find out a policeman in a faraway country called the US has killed a person by suffocating him. 3000 years ago this wouldn't have been possible if it ever happened, this is why it seems those times weren't as bad as today.

Things have NEVER BEEN BETTER! We live like Kings! People on WELFARE have it made. That's why EVERYONE wants to come here... hope for a better life... but worst case scenario get more money in a month from welfare than they've ever seen in their lives.

Jeff Daniels lives in Chelsea Michigan. A small down with a little over 5,000 people living in it. 96%+ of the people living there are white. .04% of the people that live there are black. That's 20 black people. Jeff Daniels lives in a lilly white town with only 20 black people living in it. Not 20%. Literally 20 black people live in the town Jeff Daniels lives in. Mybe he and you should go hand out in Chicago and then get back with how that turned out for you .
