The wife/mother definitely sets the tone of the house. If you wake up and immediately go into angry mode, the entire day and attitude of your spouse and children will be angry. I understand that there are marriages that are not happy and that affects you, the woman, but. I say here that anger or joy is a choice. It’s the same with staying in your pj’s or getting dressed well (and I am not talking business dressy or la-di-da dressing to the nines, I am talking clean, maintained jeans or pants, clean t-shirt or button down or if it’s your style, a dress or skirt) and getting your teeth brushed and hair done and if you use make up then that to start your day. My experience is if I stay in my pj’s longer than an hour after I wake up, my day just doesn’t flow well, but when I shower and dress within the first hour then it’s like I am more efficient and motivated during the day and I FEEL GOOD and that translates to my family. Outside of clinical depression, we all have a choice on our joy or sadness, keeping a tidy home or ignoring the messes, getting all the things done or not- it’s a choice. And I have found, after 41 years of marriage that I have way more time with my family when I am joyful and efficient and keep my home tidy daily, because cleaning as you go each day means there is not an overwhelming mess to tackle any day of the week which turns into a cycle that includes anger at yourself and family, tossing in the towel so to speak and also of resentment about your life and towards your family and it just keeps cycling and spiraling. Habits and attitude are difficult to change but we all have the ability to change and become the best version of ourselves, and I am not speaking about what current day thoughts are on this (like the ‘me’ time or 50/50 marriage or stuff like that or even the Christian Traditional role of wife/mother), it’s about what the realistic version of you as an individual and wife/mother- they all 3 have to be one in the same and only you can figure it out with lots of prayer and the self determination to be the person God created you for.
I agree with you 100%! It’s not unrealistic standards to be dressed, have a clean house and cook dinner. Those are pretty basic and are all good and healthy for you. Every woman’s house, style, dress, and meals will all look different. We should all try to be the best version of ourselves we can be and let the Lord shape and mold us. I was thoroughly blessed and encouraged by this video. It was a God move that I was led to enjoy it. I am guilty of being a nagging wife that my poor husband has to take it in daily. I thank God for you to awaken me and use sweet and kind words that set the tone for a holy atmosphere. We are creating memories whether we know it or not. This day I want to transform my home into a place where love grows, God dwells, peace reigns, and joy exudes. Simple Mamma is where I am going to park so I can learn from a wise and God fearing woman. Thank you God for opening my eyes today. my childhood was spent with a mother who wanted to 'brawl' with anyone or anything in her path. We definitely walked on eggshells. all.the.time. still do, & I'm 43. No one can understand how damaging this is to a person. It ruins your sense of worth, security, & self. And my mom was not even bad to us kids. She was actually a pretty good mother! But this way of looking at the world inculcates an attitude of always being on the defensive. My dad spent a fair amount of time out in the barn or garage. MY husband looks forward to coming home. He says it is peaceful & he can't wait to get home every night. My 2 girls say the same; they want to sleep in their own beds, & can't wait to get around the dinner table, and just be. Be...at home!
Yes I understand completely and can definitely relate to your personal experience as well. A woman is supposed to be a man’s peace, not his battle or opponent. No one wants to walk on eggshells around anyone and especially at home where we should all feel the most free and comfortable! These are not unrealistic standards. Noone expects a pintrest I home or organic food made from scratch. Just Make sure you are dressed and not in pj's and showered. And keep your home reasonably clean and family fed good food, however that looks for each family. The bible is pretty plain on these matters. Its not rocket science. Just dont be a slob,have a good attitude and feed your people.

It might not be hard, but you'd be surprised at how many families can not accomplish it. Or how many women that I have talked to that don't think ANY of that is THEIR responsibility. (& I am NOT necessarily saying that women should/must do all of those tasks, solely, but I have met some women, even sahm, that put a lot of these very basic tasks on their husband, kids, mothers, mother in laws, & even GRANDMAS & GREAT GRANDMAS.) I can't tell you how many millennial women I know that expect GREAT grandmothers to do all childcare for FREE. Or expect their mothers/MILs to come over & clean their house, or to go shopping with/for them. They aren't high expectations, you are right, so i agree 100% with you. But you'd be surprised....
I just seen your comment! Yes, I agree too. I think The husband and wife are both equally responsible for setting the home atmosphere when they are both home. Moms who stay home definitely set the tone and mood for the day without a doubt and should be responsible for the duties inside the home, because we are the one who is home! Haha! I am a wife and mother to 3 beautiful kids (2 step, 1 biological) I love your videos. I would love to start homemaking but unfortunately I suffer from chronic fatigue and barely have any energy to do anything, especially the days after I get off work. I feel like this fatigue is keeping me from being the woman/wife/mother that God has called me to be and it can be very overwhelming and stressful. Any suggestions?

While I cannot speak from personal experience, I understand and acknowledge that it difficult. Try to focus on what you can do, but know your limits and don’t overdo it, make sleep and healthy eating a priority, and most importantly take it one day at a time the Lord’s mercies are new every morning, we can’t do it all by ourself, He knows what you can handle and let the joy of the Lord be your strength ♥️

Unfortunately, I live in a home with family members who have PTSD, thats triggered by cleanliness. They feel "safe and secure" in a cluttered and dirty home. It drives me bonkers. 😞
I try to keep the house clean, but it seems to be a never-ending battle. I am ashamed at the state of my home, but what can I do?

I’m sorry, that sounds rough. Hmm.. Maybe you could start with small areas and see how they adapt? Making Small changes very slowly?

To anyone watching this video and it left you feeling like you are a failure because you don't measure up to all these unrealistic standards, this is not the only way to be a great successful wife and mom. Pls pls know that if you are doing all you can to be the best wife and mom you can be, even if you don't make fresh bread, don't have a spotless and tidy house and pinterest looking kitchen, don't wear dresses and buns, even if you curse and lose your temper, argue with your husband and react like a human to hard days/weeks/seasons....if you get up everyday and try and grow and persevere, you are good! Sometimes these videos, as well meaning as they are and as encouraging as they are to some, can come accross to others as shaming and guilt inducing. Please don't allow that.♡ It's better that our families see us being real and genuine, and failing and persevering than it is to put so much pressure on ourselves and be striving for an unobtainable image. Wherever you are tonight, I hope you feel loved and safe. And I hope you value your efforts and extend yourself loads of grace. Life is messy and it's ok to not have it all together all the time. ♡
What’s the unrealistic standard?
I set no unrealistic standard. My kitchen is clean, my dishwasher is unloaded, I cooked dinner, and I’m dressed. That is vey much an obtainable goal and a basic standard 😊
Everyone’s life looks different, some might say your life looks like an unrealistic standard, depends on who you ask.
Are you not “shaming” me because I made scratch dinner rolls, in a dress, in my cleaned UP kitchen?
If you let people on the internet set your standard, then comparison will become a struggle indeed.
I intended to induce no shame or guilt in anyone, if so it was unconscionably done. If shame or guilt are present maybe that could be a conviction about something?
@@JustASimpleMamma I was addressing people who may perceive it that way, because I guarantee there are women that do, as I said, no matter how well meaning you were. I expected your defensiveness, that's your stuff to work through. And yes, this whole Proverbs 31 woman ideology IS unrealistic and damaging, no matter how you spin it.

I think you have “stuff to work through” if you believe that the word of God is unrealistic and damaging, maybe that is why you’re projecting defensiveness onto me, I will always defend the Word. Sincerely wish you wellness too! Maybe not watch a Christian channel, if you don’t hold a Christian worldview? That is definitely a recipe for defensiveness 😊 The Word of God is sharper than any two edged sword, it convicts and does not return void, as the Bible says.
@@JustASimpleMamma Again, I was addressing the listeners not you, and whoever needs to hear it will. I know it's easier to have everyone who comes to your channel be like minded and agree with you, but that's not how TH-cam works. Interesting you automatically assume I'm not a Christian because I addressed theology. The Word is good, but how man has interpreted it and taken it further than it was meant to be taken is not. Maybe you aren't ready for the responsibility of having the channel if you can't welcome other perspectives.
Trust me, I have no desire to hear anymore of your "encouragenent" or discuss this further. My words fell where they fell and that's all I wished for.
