    Y’all acting like he super glued a trapeze tailpiece on a Martin D20. This is like a 300 guitar, and he just did it for fun, and I for one love how jankey and handmade it looks. When amateurs do stuff like this just shows a love for creativity, and he didn’t let himself be confined to the restraints of expert level knowledge, he just said “fuck it imma do it” lol. It has a ton more personality that way.
    Love it man, keep messing around.

    I just discovered my guitar had a belly budge, and im also planning to do this so it wouldn't worsen. Thanks for the idea!

    Dana Guitar Lanke It would help make Pinless Bridge Guitars stronger so that the bridge wouldn't pop off. This kinda reminds me of 2 other instruments, the Spanish Laud & Spanish Bandurria. The Spanish Laud & Spanish Bandurria have a Classical Guitar tie Block bridge (also doubles as a string through bridge) but the strings anchor at the tailpiece so that the bridge wouldn't pop off.

      That's what I should get. A classical bridge. The String passses through the back end of the bridge block... typically ties off. But I could continue it to a trapeze tailpiece. Great idea. Thanks 👍

    I want to try out something like this! I hate bridge pins!

    Selmer used to do this, and probably a few other Euro makers. It's probably more expensive than bridge pins.

      It does not make much sense on flat top acoustic guitar, same as classic bridge + pins on archtop guitar. I think Gibson tried every posible combination and some more(violine like bridges) in early 1900s. Ken Parker has a few great videos on YT about history of archtop guitars and what works on what guitar and why ;)

      Yeah. Just fit a slim piece of wooden dowel into that outter string peg holes on bridge base. And pre drill (with 1/16") so you can put a pickup mounting ring screw in each. To hold the wooden hold down clamp on. It keeps strings tight to bridge saddle

      @@D.Guitar, I know it won't surprise you but it's a Grote reject I think. It's stunning but all of the flaws makes it a 3rd rate for me. I told them about all of the issues I now see after learning. They say they can't get better parts because they cost too much as the excuse. I also payed more because this model was not available anymore. I'm going to open a claim. Sad cause he has 100 percent rating so I assumed he wouldn't do me wrong. The quality control must be from a child, not a actual guitar maker. I may make a video.

    Is this for tone?

    • @D.Guitar
      @D.Guitar  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No... It's not even good for tone. It's primarily to keep pressure down on bridge plate. Instead of constant pull on bridge pins. That I've personally seen SO MANY soundboards belly up and distort the action on Acoustic Guitars. This had opposite effect. Does Not pull up... There's no pins in the Bridge. That shim of wood is over the pins area to insure that the strings stay put in saddle mitch's position

    I dont mean to hurt you man, but that is some flintstone looking work with that strip of wood, and the trapeze looks roughly installed. This looks like a framer got his hands on a guitar. Maybe luthiery isnt for you, or you need some training in finish work. Its actually not a bad idea to get good break angle with a trapeze using the strip, the execution is just not up to snuff. I would be very angry if i paid you for work and got that back, functional or not. Pawn shops are full of basketcases worked on by "luthiers" that just made things worse. Trying for constructive criticism here, dont fly off the handle.

    • @D.Guitar
      @D.Guitar  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Totally cool with your accurate views Here.. I was a framer. Carpenter. I don't work on other people's Guitars.. I cut up Guitar's and build my own. Mostly ML models.. I don't sell my builds. It's just a hobby I luv. And. Yeah. When I made this it was kinda experimental. And. I've never changed or refined it's shape or execution.
      But I'm glad that someone looks and actually sees what I've done. For good or Bad.. thanks for Your comment
