Ballet dancer here, and even though those wish pointe shoes are the bane of all ballet dancers existence, you wore them beautifully! If you’ve seriously never been en pointe before, you have the feet flexibility and strength for days. Amazing!😍💜

I did ballet for a long time & that's what I was thinking! The strength she must have in her feet to do all that in the wish shoes is amazing for never having done pointe!

Honestly as someone who did ballet for a long time I was more concerned for her toes and other parts of her feet then her ankles because it seemed like she has strong ankles

If I remember correctly, Blairs dress is red and Courtneys dress is blue. I think she should go with Blairs, red would look amazing on her.

My experience with the Rit Synthetic dyes is that you need to boil the fabric over the stove applying constant heat to get the fabric to take the colour. That could help in future. But the dress looks gorgeous.
The directions say the water needs to boil, that was my first thought is she used too cool of water.
Yeah I was thinking that maybe she used the wrong type of dye but heat based dye and cold water dye are completely different
For someone who doesn’t dance and is wearing 20 dollar Amazon pointe shoes, the pointe work actually looks pretty good 😂 Dress is just gorgeous; love the fabric you ended up using for the skirt 💕
12 Dancing Princesses was my second favorite tied with Island Princess, my favorite was Princess and the Pauper 😊

Back at it again with Rit Dye failing us!
I wanted to give you some tips for future 12 Dancing Princesses projects/in general; to make paint less crusty, mix in a fabric medium to the paint. It’s very liquidy and it makes the paint stay flexible once dry. Depending on what your fabrics are made of, you can use a candle flame to melt and seal the edges of most polyester fabrics, as they’re made of plastic and won’t burn like natural fibres. Just be careful lol

Being a ballet dancer myself I think you did super well on pointe! You must have a lot of flexibility and strength in your feet and ankles to do that so well, especially in cheap shoes. Also your first and fifth positions looked amazing!
Hii, I am a 17-year-old girl and I think I am in my 9th year of ballet classes. Barbie and this movie made me want to go to ballet classes. I love this sooo much! I also dance a little bit on pointe shoes and the outfit you made is just on point! Love from the Netherlands.

I'm feeling like a kid again, when I dreamed on being a ballerina. I might mention that 12 Dancing Princesses used to be my favorite movie from Barbie's universe and this dress was absolutely my favorite one.
i would recommend getting soft pointe shoes for projects like these they are far more comfortable and prettier to wear for a non dancer. much nicer fit and better for photographs
Heads up - The dye didn't work because if you read the instructions on the side of the bottle you'll find that it needs to be heated with some dish soap
(nylon is plastic you need to slightly melt it into the fibers for it to hold its color)
This is why, you need to know about fabrik when sewing, especially dyeing
Oh my GOD I was LIVING for barbie movies when I was young and this movie was 1 of my top 3, I LOVE the dress
The pointe shoes just give me flashbacks from when I used to do ballet classes, I really enjoyed them, but unfortunately I couldn’t do them anymore because of Covid

There were online ballet classes, every studio did them... so don't lie for attention

This dress was absolutely stunning! It fulfilled my childhood dream. Also, for someone who has never danced, your 5th position was breathtaking and your pointe work in cheap Amazon shoes is literally perfect. You must have some amazing strength and flexibility in your feet and legs to do that. Just wow.
The twelve dancing Princesses was one of my favourites growing up. Nan and I used to dance along with all the dance numbers
I love this movie and particularly this dress so much!! Lengthen the skirt to the floor while using the same methods seen here and you can make their regular gowns
I chose to go with her ballet dress as I’ve made so many gowns already 😅

Honestly, I think it would be so cool if you slowly made them all over time and had a full set of all the sisters!! You could even sell them as a set if you wanted to, but I think it would look amazing!! I also thing you should make them in order from oldest to youngest! Great job!!!

I am rewatching this video for like the fifth time and no matter how much times I watch it it never gets old. I wish I could make it or they sold those bear where I live. I would die to have that dress!!
You tied the shoes correctly, and you looked pretty good in them to. The dress is gorgeous! If you did another one, could you do one styled like some of the younger characters dresses? I think their are three variations, but I’m not sure.

If you dying synthetic fabric, the best dye for it is idye poly. I found it's the best for any material that's synthetic, and keeping the dye bath at a high temp (whatever is recommended on the packaging) really helps keep the color in.
THIS you need to use an acid dye because rit all purpose is for natural fabrics only
We always had a copy of the 12 dancing princesses, it was no one’s favorite but it was still a great movie so we’d watch it when we couldn’t agree on one or if we ere tired of the others favorites
I love the idea of making the outfits of other sisters! You should make this a series (spread out with other things in between) but I would love if you made all 12 of the princesses!

Since you were talking about how you think we are getting tiered of half circle skirts I thought MAYBE just maybe you would possibly want to make Amber’s dress from Disney Junior’s Sofia The First. ✨There is only one catch though, it is the dress Amber wears in season 4. There are some great references in season 4 episode 27, The Elf Situation. Now I know they are what, 9 years old or whatever, but I think if you fix the measurements and all that it could work. I know basically nothing about sewing so it might not work but just a thought. Some of the dresses on the show could be pretty full size. If you have Netflix that’s were you can watch the episodes. 😉✨

OMG!!! 😍😍🥰😍😍 This was done so amazingly!!!! Barbie and the 12 Dancing Princesses was my favorite movie growing up, so the moment I saw this pop up in my recommendations, I just had to click it. That more sparkly fabric you found is just *perfect* for Genevieve! AND THE SHOES!!! I LOVE THEM!! The moment you started putting on the gold lace on them I got hit with a wave of nostalgia. They look so good!! Just, the whole thing looks AMAZING!!!! I just about squealed in happiness during the reveal!! You did an amazingly perfect job on the dress!! If you do end up doing another one of the princesses Lacey might be fun. Any of them would be really, all their dresses are so pretty.

For synthetic dye, I believe the water needs to be at a low boil. Though regardless, some fabrics don't take in dye as well.

Coming from a family of dancers, we all loved the Barbie movies! Idea for future dresses…. Try making a romantic cut tulle tutu/skirt, it can add volume plus give you the ballet vibe 😊

In my opinion, the next dress I like to be made is Janessa! (Just in grown up size) I mean this because it isn’t the same colour and pieces it’s made of. In conclusion, how varied it is compared to Genevieve suggests why I’d prefer Janessa. (Questions are boldest it’s ape!)

If you add clothes softener to your paint. When it drys on fabric, the fabric doesn't stiffen up or chip & crack off. Becareful of the paint to e changing though.
