I am in my senior years and have listened to Marty, Merle, Johnny, George and others for decades. I never knew Marty had a son. Listening to this, I closed my eyes and listened to Marty. What a wonderful rendition. A true tribute to his dad. So we’ll done/

That is one of the most beautiful songs ever recorded. Until now, NOBODY could sing it like Marty. But Ronny hit it out of the ball park here. The only thing missing was what I have always thought to be a bass guitar with a loose E string.

For many years I was a real Marty Robbins fan. I think he was the greatest. His son is not at good, but I have to give him credit as he does a good job on this song. He has his Dad's way of clowning around too and also has Marty's smile.

He does a fantastic job on this. I love his voice so much like his Father's.
He has a boatload of talent, but he had an impossible act to follow in the business. He has still had a successful career in the music business and you can just feel the love when he's singing his dad's songs. That's about as good as it gets.
His voice is damn near identical to his dad's. A helluva talent in his own right. It helps keep Marty alive for so many of us who admired him. I'm sure dad is proud+
Marty's voice was a little bit lower, but you are right about how much he is like his dad. He has the same mannerisms when he sings too. He said he never watched his dad sing because he didn't want to take on any of his ways, he wanted to be his own singer. He said it must be a family trait or something cuz he didn't do it on purpose. LOL. Now all he needs is those ourlandish suits Marty use to wear...I'm not talking about the beaded ones most country singers wore back then, but the weird "clown" like suits.

Yes, it's astounding how much his voice is like his Dad's, and he's got his Dad's mannerisms down pat. Marty Robbins was a gem; underrated. He had a heck of a life and I think he enjoyed himself immensely. Gordon Lightfoot wrote Ribbon of Darkness in late 1960's, story is Gord thought he wasn't known enough to make song hit so he gave to Marty. I think i like Marty's version better than Gord's.
He is really his father's son. Very nice. I love it.
