Exactly. The only thing gorilla arms do is add passive damage to your punches and give you the ground pound ability. Even without them the unarmed combat in Cyberpunk 2077 is far more fleshed out then Starfields unarmed combat.

I really enjoy the massive amount of diverse playstyles in Cyberpunk. The amount of different gun play, but also the amount of melee options, and mixmatching to make incredibly strong builds with each one. And they managed to make them all incredibly fun, not many games manage that.

Irony is even if you took the gorilla arms off (yes you can now unequip your arm augments in the 2.0 update and have normal arms again, the sadly don't make this clear) even just bare normal hands feel better to fight with than in starfield. There's a sense of actual weight and ooomf to your punches
Best thing anyone can do is wait, I waited a year to buy cyberpunk on sale and I don't regret it one bit, and I'll wait however long it takes for starfield to go on sale too, I'm not paying full price for fallout 4 in space.
Hard doubt on Starfield getting that much better tbh. A lot of its main issues are because of the engine and the core game design decisions. e.g. load screens, over reliance on fast travel, excessive menu interaction etc.
Just to day with Bethesda, unarmed for them peaked in Daggerfall. Yeah it'd be primitive but having high speed stat meant you could of thrown punches like Jojo character or a Fist of the North Star character. And even before 2m0, unarmed was fun in Cyberpunk.
You even haven't count cyberpunk's crouch uppercut, jump punch and pushing in the compare. Three of each I mentioned have different effects on enemies, It's the most satisfying unarmed combat I've experienced in fps games.
I love how both games essentially boil down to "KICK HIM WHILE HE'S DOWN!!!" Although, it is clear that unarmed combat in Starfield is little more than an afterthought, while Cyberpunk has implemented more variety in approaching an encounter.

The Creation Engine is quite outdated, as in: It can't even render 3 light-sources with dynamic shadows in the same area. And it has many more limitations. If you would try to build something like Cyberpunk's Night City, I'm pretty sure it would crash on trying to load the game as it just can't render that much stuff packed in a small area (hence why everything in Fallout and Skyrim feels so "empty" compared to modern titles) As a easy example, take Fallout 4's Sim Settlement mod. Its revolutionary and incredible. But also prone to many save corruptions and crashes due to the engine not being able to handle that many scripts and objects at the same time. The Engine is literally keeping everyone back atm, both developers and mod authors.
