Korean fans are more possessive of their idols whereas international fans are more indifferent to their idols dancing with dancers of the opposite genre, it's a cultural difference since Kpop starter in the 90s. Also since they're from South Korea their fanbase there is super important, they're the only ones that can attend the weekly tv recordings/broadcasts/radio appearances/etc where fans are needed for the crowd, even when they idols become a regular MC of a national tv show, the Korean fans are mostly the only ones that are representing the fandom (the registration for attending usually requires a SK phone number), even they were only "a few" fans complaining about this issue, the company had to take it seriously.
