  • Grammy and Academy award winning composer, A. R. Rahman performed with, and was paid tribute to, by Berklee College of Music at Symphony Hall, Boston, on October 24, 2014. The repertoire for the concert spanned Mr. Rahman's illustrious discography of over 25 years. We are delighted to release all 16 pieces presented at the concert featuring 109 performers from 32 countries representing The Berklee Indian Ensemble, The Berklee World String Ensemble, and Boston University's Indian dance troupe, BU Bhangra.

    There are foreigners who put great effort and sing the tough Malayalam parts perfectly for the love of music, and on another side there are a few Indians who would like to walk out of a Rahman concert coz he sang Tamil songs too.

    3:33 The chorus lines in Malayalam language is like an elegant side track which keeps the balance of the whole composition by giving a contrast. Gireesh Puthenchery the well poetic lyricist kept a glimpse to the wide ocean of touching, nostalgic lines he spread before leaving little soon from us. Obviously MG Sreekumar did well along with the mesmerizing lead singers!

    Fantastic !! really liked the energy of the singers.
    Even the Malayalam chorus was also done with perfect pronunciation. (which is not an easy task for even Indians). The musical instruments are just great. Berklee...! your knowledge on music and music teaching is unparalleled

    This is my favorite song by the Berklee Indian Ensemble. I love both the live performance and the studio version. The vocalist singing the "Jiya Jale" line is phenomenal. I also love the accompanying ensemble and their obvious passion for the music. The section in Malayalam is also amazing. The composition and the performance are both incredible. Hats off to the performers and of course A. R. Rahman!

    I am so happy that i am literally crying. I haven't done so yet in 30 years of my life. This version of jiya jale just makes me so dam happy i can't express in words.
    Actually happy and crying cz India is extremly beautiful and diverse. This song this one of the many many examples and i cired in joy cz thank god on the world stage it shows our beautiful talent and culture.
    So fucking proud to be an Indian.
