I always thought it was always the opposite way Round, for the exact same reasons. Catra proposes to adora because 1: catra always felt like adora was the one that mattered, that the fact she loved adora didn’t matter because she would always be in adoras shadow. 2: adora was always willing to love, to care to be the hero. She was never able to accept love until the end of season 5. Her ability to accept that someone loves her unconditionally is still a very new concept to her. As is catras ability to love unconditionally. Catra proposing is the ultimate display that she is willing to love unconditionally, and the ultimate sign that adora is loved unconditionally.

Genocide, incest romance, little to no sympathy, the murder of Queen Angella and, let's face it her very friends and MOTHER FIGURE as well. She gets the girl, which is her sister/nemesis/heroine, withour so much of a redemption arc, but by whispering a couple of words as an apology. What is this a fanfiction?! Don't answer that.
