I spent several hours at Timberline (many years back) looking at the wood and iron work, and general design of the structure. I was amazed by it. You brought back fond memories for me. Thanks...
Thank John, it takes a blacksmith to stop by and see the real beauty in the artwork. I wonder how many people walk by and never really see the handy craft.🤔🥰
I live about 2 hours from Timberline Lodge and it is my go to mountain for snow sports. I had the opportunity to stay a couple nights at the lodge and I also drooled over the ironwork.
I remember seeing this door on your Instagram! Very cool to see it with more context and all the other ironwork as well. Very much appreciate the drone shots also. I love the Pacific Northwest landscape, and I'd love to go back someday.
Thanks! I needed that!! I've been so busy with painting and remodeling lately that I can hardly look up ( and when I do I'm worn out). Taking the day off today, so this was a wonderful start.
That stuff is beautiful. Timeless. Can’t imagine people making it. They had to be true craftsman. Makes me want to go start some projects, but work is calling unfortunately.
YoYo Ma in the Prelude for the First Cello Suite? Sounds like this version th-cam.com/video/1prweT95Mo0/w-d-xo.html Indeed the iron work at Timberline is amazing. As is the woodwork, the paintings and the fiber arts. Timberline was done as a WPA project that employed skilled artisans that had been put out of work during the Depression.
I was having a very rough morning and this helped me just relax so thanks for posting this.
Glad I could help!
what a great experience for a craftsman to share others work and ideas, clearly a work of love.

At least two of the Smiths at the Conference you just left actually contributed to that fine ironwork. Thanks for sharing, I need to get down there!
I love the Rams head on the clean out door! 🐏

Much of the work is more recent made by smiths from the area.
