This man is such a great fellow. Not to mention extremely talented and refreshingly honest. Gene's keen intelligence and kindness may seem simplistic to the average guy, but the complexity of Wilder brought to the laughter and joy on screen in ways we can only be thankful about.
He was more human than any actor I have ever seen. He was sooo humble. He's in my top 10 actors of all time. For me personally, he brought that Hollywood sign to me and changed my perspective on what actors were. I thought they were all super stars. You couldn't reach them, you couldn't touch them. He broke the mold for me.
Found this comment and feel you are right about the sadness. It belies a man hurt in some way maybe by his own actions who knows but also trying to piece things together with the variety of characters he plays. You may hate me for saying but he reminds me of a early Jim Carrey.... Can do anything but behind the scenes who knows. Take care anyway
What a lovely man he was. His battles with mental health as a young man ring very true to me. When you find yourself praying for forgiveness for just being yourself and living it really hits home. I have had the same in my life. Guilt for something that is beyond your control. It's is hard explain but it can be overwhelming.
That was a very well done interview. The interviewer asked excellent questions and led it very well. Gene Wilder was a legendary actor. And when given the right conditions, shone with brilliance and you couldn’t look away. You just got drawn in ❤️
I discovered Gene Wilder at 15yrs old. Crying with laughter at Stir Crazy, a happy moment in my somewhat tragic childhood will always be cherished by me. A beautiful, gentle soul reaching so many with his comedic genius. RIP sweet Gene, you will be missed but deeply appreciated.
Funny you say that, the Gene Wilder Gaze seems to have have this great, deep humanity containing everything from the very sad to the extremely hopeful and also the laughingly absurd and ridiculous. Gene was life, and Gilda was his perfect other half and soul mate.
Ya know, he added the beginning bit in Willy Wonka of him falling down the stairs and bouncing back up? He wanted people to question whether Willy was being honest or not through the movie. Gene was perfect for the role and really breathed life into the character in time when acting was way more rigid. Absolute legend.
Comic genius with a heart of gold. His films have left indelible mark in the film industry as well as providing laughter to millions, myself included. His partnership with Mel Brooks has to be one of the greatest collaboration in history of film! They absolutely do not make films like that anymore.
What a great interview. Such an insight into the character of a genius comedian and all together beautiful soul. Thank you Gene Wilder for your many gifts that you shared with us. Have a happy reunion with your beautiful wife Gilda. Rest in Peace.
Sweetest man in the world. Brilliant as Willy Wonka. Funny as shit in every movie he did. That part in Stir Crazy when it's the first night in their cells.. "Harry, we're in prison.." "Hiho silver.."
Gene Wilder was hilarious very funny and played his roles with perfection, he is now with Gilda must have been a wonderful reunion on any regard you'll be missed but his movies and the characters he played will live on, rest in peace Gene" 🙏✝ ✡📖❤ A Fan"
I like the line "there is a difference between a comedian and a comic actor" I also align with the latter as well. Many people find me funny when telling stories but it's not my intention to tell a joke. It just happens that people think is funny the way I say it or act it
The interviewer did a fantastic job here. Lead the interview really well; didn’t interrupt, didn’t just bring up Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Let Gene just speak. Such a sweet and lovely man.
What a legend, what a magical performance he gave us as willy wonker, pure imagination, you earned your golden ticket RIP high in your chocolate factory gore but forever in peoples ♥️
In a world where no one really knows what they want to be,or how they want to be perceived..just be like Gene!!..what a kind hearted, intelligent, master of his craft human being. People like Gene don't come around very often,a legend!!!.
Beyond legend. His voice is calm, now, glad he was at peace later in life. May have seen w/w and chocolate factory 200 times. Make a wish and count to 3............
"Would that have been a moral decision if it had been embrionic?" "Not at all. No." "Well it is for the Bush administration." "Not for any normal people." Ha! Love you Gene. Rest in peace.
