I don't know, the nerfing was a Jeff thing and it was a bit of a hindrance but it was always to maintain some level of balance and coherence. When projects change hands so abruptly everything tends to be managed for the worst, I'm not having too much hopes for the future of OW (or Blizzard for that matter).

Dunno how I feel about the flat 40% damage. Seems pretty strong compared to damage focused ults.
40% of current health. Not total health. Think of Sigma's ult, which has more range, you don't have to be in the middle of them to do, makes all the characters vulnerable to taking damage, then does a flat 50 from total.
It's not flat 40%. it's 40% of REMAINING HP as he said. if it were flat, then anyone at 40% or lower would die instantly, and that's not the case.

Hacking in stealth, not something I saw coming.
They can still sort of see you for a brief moment, so you'll still get your chance to get bodied by a (not-so) random Rein charge or Torb turret, no worries.

I think over all, she's a super strong character. The EMP is gonna be nasty, but reducing loss of cooldowns from 6 secs to 1 is not gonna balance it out. You lose 40% health, but u can still shield, flash, shield bash, cc in some way where it's not crazy broken.

Sombra just went from being a cunning manipulator that enables her team by messing with the enemy to a literal machine of destruction and killing.
Which I don't like to be honest, being a cunning manipulator is what made her special, now she will just be another DPS.

@@KilliK69 In the hands of an expert, Sombra is a VERY effective disruptor. There are plenty of full on DPS characters, Sombra is more to disrupt and distract. Sneak into the back lines and cause havoc. She doesnt need to kill to be effective.
@@Farewell_Friend For the record it still destroys barriers like Rein's shield or bubbles, but it no longer affects shield health like Zenyatta's.
I think we will have to wait and see how strategic Sombra is played with this new iteration, with the delightfully evil ability to hack in stealth given to counterbalance the change, but off set by her having increased stealth detection range.

The bubble is usually removed after a short time if it isn’t broken, either it was removed once the timer was up at an extremely inconvenient time or they’re lying

that's the thing. Overwatch was balanced a loooooooooooooooooooong time ago. Then they added new heroes, which through off that balance, which caused changes, which made them add a new hero, which through off balance, which caused changes, which made them add a new hero, which... you get the picture.

@@spoonman9584 Overwatch was never balanced. I played the beta and when it originally came out. Widowmaker was OP (snipers generally are in these kinds of games, inherently by design). Bastion was bad, Reaper was bad (just is by design), Symmetra was bad. Mccree was absolutely ridiculous, 1 fan the hammer outright killed tanks, you generally didn't need precision tap aim for anything, plus you get flashbang, which is just a broken ability by design. lol
The game has always been a mess, even Jeff Kaplan began to realize that prior to him leaving. Hopefully they learned their lesson for Overwatch 2. Overwatch was pretty experimental, given its their first dip into the FPS scene. but yeah.
Lets face it, She is getting nerfed soon enough as soon as the game releases! 🤣

1 second is enough. If sombra keeps hacking the only tank then the others can focus on the tank and take him down. I mean her being part of the enemy team will make Winston completely useless. That's broken to me.
If you really want to get into up-time for hacks, Current Sombra is 6 seconds of hack on an 8 second cooldown. New Sombra is 1 on a 2 second cooldown. Combined with the fact that the visibility portion is a full 6 seconds and it looks like health packs are the same duration as before, they are much more putting Sombra into the role of countering flankers instead of countering specific abilities. Cut off routes with visibility and hinder places to heal, I can see Sombra being even more dominant with an even more annoying playstyle.

All these characters are getting interesting buffs to their kits and changing their playstyles for the better. I'm terrified for my girl Brig. I'm already expecting like 50 heallth, no shield and 10 healing per minute.
Well, bashing no longer stuns opponents…so that’s probably the best part left of her character taken away.

I loved how they justified the first round of nerfs to Brig as others make the claim "She is OP, hold down left button and insta-win" is such BS. The same could be said about Symmetra and her Turret spam/Hold down left button routine.
@@AD-1138 Afraid not. They may change things but, as it stands, they’re boosting the bash damage to 40 and taking out the stun. General rework model for most characters seems to be taking out abilities, adding more damage, and nerfing healing across the board. So everyone dies more quickly and each character is less unique. I’m getting pretty nervous.

I wish she could hack more map objects (in addition to health packs) like in her release trailer. Maybe elevators, doors for faster access to fights, even payloads to speed them up or something, maybe that's too OP, but still, it would really bring the environments to life even more
I'd like to see them test out that like to have a flank lane only available as long ur team has a sombra. Might be too OP but could be cool
I think it wouldn't be op if they implemented that for multiple champs. For example, maybe Widowmaker using her hook to get up to places that no other champ can, or Doom being able to break walls for shortcuts using his charge, etc.
@@TheCrusherofice That would be pretty OP. That would just make it so widow can be uncontested by certain heroes because they can't ever reach her which wouldn't be balanced. I don't think that is a good idea and would make some champions too strong in certain areas. Same for Sombra she would be way too strong in a coordinated team setting. Cool idea but I don't think it's feasable.

They're toning down the amount of stuns and disables...I'd say that has the opposite effect. They're making it less boring, and less frustrating.

I'd love to see more videos like this, even for the characters that we already know some of the changes for, like Mei and Winston. THIS is the kind of pre-release content we need to bring the hype.

so for reapers rework, his ultimate now stuns for .5 seconds every time a target is hit. his shotguns also now increase all damage taken by 50% to keep in line with power creep from sombra.
Seems like she's going to be extra obnoxious now and mostly used to strategically disable ults. Guess maybe this will help to break through all these chockepoints.
There won't be any chokepoints in this games with like no shields team fights wi last like 15 seconds instead of 45 seconds
There's are very few chokepoints and even these can be broken through very easily since you can get around them really easily.

@@HellGrimo Yeah I used a lot of "easily" but just as we saw on the Italian map, New York map and many other maps, whenever there's a chokepoint, there's a high ground for the attacking team. Saying these new maps have the same amounts and same sizs of chokepoints as 2CP maps, Kings Row, Junkertown second point and Illios lighthouse, is just not true or you need glasses.
She's not disabling ults anymore, unless she's already in position and hitting one that is channelled like Phara. A 1 second silence is going to have no impact whatsoever on teamfights, which used to be her greatest strength in OW.
Now she's much more suited to sneaking up on the enemy healer and popping them before the fight.
So she's gonna be a nightmare to go against for the first weeks of her release and then nerf into oblivion. The hack only silences for 1 second but you can use it every 3 seconds and while invisible, let's also take into account that characters like hammond and doomfist are gonna die as soon as they lose their combo. Ults like mcree and moira will be easier to cancel since she can do it while invisible and don't forget the 40% damage ult. Just use it before a Zarya or Sigma ult and teamwipe. Vulnerable characters such as zennyatta or hog(after using his hook) are gonna get deleted due to the hack passive
Sombra main here. Already expecting nerfs. I just hope she stays as a solid character at least, but man they really have to change those numbers.
Honestly don't think they're going to have to change many numbers, though Hacking while invisible might need some changes. For reference, Sombra will deal the exact damage equivalent to Tracer on a hacked target. (240 per second) This is assuming you hit every bullet, and are in optimal non falloff range. EMP is generally worse against Sound Barrier and the targets it used to be good against (Zenyatta) but better overall in general, but now it needs to be used more reactively to stop an in cast ult rather than to disable them for a teamfight.
I could agree with this analysis, but you got a mistake there: you're doing this analysis with OW1 in mind. Other heroes will suffer some reworks and the game will be at 5x5 battles.
So, we'll probably not gonna see Doomfist as we are used on OW1. I guess we have to wait the entire rooster as a whole to reach better conclusions.
To compensate for the low hack cooldown and the ability to do it in stealth, The new reveal distance for invis is 4 meters, up from 2 meters. And she's partially revealed while hacking, not completely invisible. When good players know they're facing a Sombra, they whip around as soon as they hear her voiceline, and they WILL see her. It will be more annoying during hectic teamfights while players are distracted, or for when your team is focusing someone down. She'll be annoying as ever... but thats why people play her.
just wait and see what blizzard is doing with other heroes? every hero is getting some sort of ability change, so dont jump into the conclusion based on the current version of the game
what are you talking about? they are reworking everybody, so doomfist and hamond arent going to be the same in ow 2, they might even move doomfist to the tank category

Two uzi's is a reference to The Matrix, and it wouldn't be out of line for Overwatch to base a character after another.

I think it's better if she has her damage linked to aim, rather than a buff, and a "skill shot"
I think unlimited stealth (as it is now) is fine to give her some leeway, but could use some tweaking since its a little to lenient

They took OW the complete OPPOSITE way I would of taken it. Now it's just call of duty. I honestly don't know why different abilities are in the game at this point, any ability landed is a kill anyways. Storm area, sleep dart, hack, it's all just the same thing.

I’m a sombra main in OW1, and now I’m DEFINITELY not dropping the character. It feels like she can actually function alongside and against other characters in OW2
Based on what? Her whole purpose got totally destroyed. Her hack is garbage now. She is basically just a normal dps but has to do a prerequisite ability, hack, in order to do any decent damage. She also still has to stand in the middle of the enemy team to EMP, yet with the slower pace and the hack changes she has to stay there to dps the hacked targets because that's how she does extra damage, but staying there she will be owned in two seconds. It's contradictory design. It's about as absurd as Symmetras current design that is counterproductive. It's an absurd design.

That looks like a good rework: hack for only 1s is a huge nerf (but in the mood of reducing control effects) but the counterparts buffs are enough good to counterbalance that drawback
I think the reduce of the cooldown is definitely gonna make up for the 1s hack. Sombra will be able to interrupt every ult the enemy team uses now if she times her hacks correctly.

The worst things to hear.... ‘we’ve increased her damage’ literally the game becomes more frustrating to closer to 0.000seconds time to kill gets... does the dev team actually play their game on the live servers? Can we please get strategic gameplay back, and the Blizzard Quality?! All I’m seeing out of overwatch 2 is Activision-Blizzard Quality. And completely disappointing news. I do like the changes though as a Sombra main, however, it will take a while to get used to.

Kinda reminds me of the primary rework, less duration but more uses, think for the ultimate could have been the same amount of time and kinda liked that she had an ult which didn't damage as made her a bit different, but not too bad all in all
She looks INSANELY powerful now on the right hands, and i love the focus on damage and not on CC.
The direction the OW 2 team is going looks pretty good to me.
Also doesn't render some heroes worthless while still keeping her strong, which is good.

This just so happens to appear in my recommended when I got a POTG and the Hack the Planet achievement with Sombra in different matches

It won't be fun at all, if you get hacked as any squishy it's gg unless you're with a team that can quickly peel you.
I agree with her hack being able to do more damage, show enemies through walls and keep Sombra invisible, but the rest is unnecessarily buffed. I can understand 25% for her Ult, but 40% is very powerful.
yeah, seems a bit much, but they can always tweak her damage buffs back. i'm sure they can find a sweet spot for it with more testing.

y’all should give genji like 300 health and make his dash and deflect have like a 1 second cooldown i think he’d be a lot more balanced that way

Sure but she doesn't really NEED something like this. I don't have any interest in anything I've seen from this game, it just seems like they're obligated to change stuff around to justify charging us for an update, and they were never good at balance to begin with.
I don't think it's broken since she almost completely loses the ability that made her special. The hacking only stops your abilities for 1 second now, that's MUCH worse for her ult, makes her assassinations much riskier for her due to abilities returning too quickly (which necessitates her be more accurate to make the most of the shorter window with the buff), and turns her ult from a teamfight swinger to a frankly pretty minor ability. Not sure if she'll be weaker or stronger, but she definitely won't play very similarly.

I am intrigued but not fully sold. They seem to be moving away from crown control the whole gave over which is a decision that would require it’s own video essay to talk about fully. But I feel like sombra loosing something unique, the ability to silence, in favor of more damage, that thing every damage character can do, seems like an underwhelming change.

Her biggest flaw has always been low damage. Her playstyle is incredibly one dimensional by revolving around EMP. She's very weak as a solo q DPS or with an uncoordinated team. The pace of the game has outgrown Sombra and she needed a more damage focused role while maintaining her gimmick as a hacker. She might be overtuned in OW2 but I think her new kit is going in the right direction.
Her 6 second silence is now a 1 second interrupt, which is still good for stopping ults and forcing the enemy rein to drop shield so yours can get shatter in or so your dva can bomb, and on top of that you get 8 seconds of widow ult for your whole team on that target, and an orisa bongo for yourself against the hacked target...
Speaking of widow ult, this is gonna be crazy with widow because you can hack an ana hiding away from los so your widow can see when she's gonna peek, all without ever leaving stealth.
The only true downside I think is that emp doesn't destroy shields anymore. Honestly I'd be ok with it if it at least caused shields to have like a flicker effect where they go down for about a second before coming back up, but just straight not being able to hurt shields is kinda bad imo.
...also kinda weird that it does damage now

I too am a Reinhardt main and my biggest complaint about Sombra is that you can split-second flick your shield to stop her hack, but she just gets to keep trying. If her hack gets broken it should go on cooldown, period. That kind of goes with what I said before. She can literally not fire a shot and still gain value in distracting the shield tank ever 2 seconds.

don't mean to rain on your parade but it likely won't work this way, just like Sigma's ult isn't boosted by nano: the damage is based on a health %
@@hizkra6799 They just mean that buffing Sombra's gun speed while she has +40% damage on everyone = corpses. Not that it would buff the 40% damage from EMP.

sombra will have her ult damage nerfed after release, i honestly think the first sombra was good enough as is
She was more a sup hero. This changes we're completely necessary for Sombra to remain as a dps character.
I think that her passive should be nerfed to something around 40/35% extra damage and her ult damage reduced to 30%, otherwise she'll be too op.
I agree, i liked her new skills and passive but i just think about the ult XD i hope that its on a smaller radius because 40% is too much damage
@@lunasolairyx8001 it's 40% of CURRENT health not MAXIMUM. so unlike sigma's ult, it cannot kill any enemies and it does very little damage if the enemies aren't full health

Even though it looks ok, the 1 sec block on abilities makes up for it, you're not vulnerable when hacked now.
but wasn't the point of being hacked to be vulnerable? Its a support ability from a DPS... those either reveal targets like Hanzo's spotting arrow or make people vulnerable like Junkrat's trap.

After hearing those 8 seconds i was kinda... but then i realized only 1 second is actually ability cancelling, which is great, because it encourages cancelling someone mid-ability, which is the most fun part of sombra to me

They finally said they would reduce cc in the game. I really think that was the biggest problem in overwatch
They said reduce her CC not overall i think
this shows there might be even more CC, take increased damage for 8 seconds while revealed just like tyra from paladins, coupled with an ultimate that now is basically a better sigma ultimate, you dont know how much i hate the buffed sombra right now.
