Excellent, honest review. It’s unfortunate that the dealer isn’t completing the work they are supposed to. It’s this exact reason that gives all or mostly all dealers a bad name. I really appreciate this. I bought a boat from a dealership where the service department pulled off this kind of scam. Hi Rob, well I “pulled the trigger” as they say and picked up an 2023 HD7 but in green instead lol. I think we have the same unit other than the color. I’m taking it out this weekend in fact, going to do some desert trails around Saddle Mountain, near Tonopah, Arizona. So you might see some videos popping up in a few weeks! I love watching your videos around where you ride, cause the terrain is so vastly different than here in Arizona. About the only thing I’m not sure of yet is dealing with the lack of DPS, what little riding I’ve done so far it doesn’t really seem like such a big deal - but once I get on some real hard trails for an extended period of time…I’ll find out if I want to save up my $$$ for it later on or not. I just ordered the Kojem 12 gallon cargo box off EBay ($199) and had to do a few modifications to make it fit. It had the linQ but it was off by just a hair… oh well it’s on now and it’s staying on too lol! Can’t wait to watch a few more of your rides! 😊

the service is like there where i am too, took my truck to be serrviced says cleaned battery then when i got it back it still had corrosion on the terminals and had to clean myself, payed 350 bucks for the priemum service package and i also dont think they changed the oil filter but im tired of fightening with them doesnt seem to help
Absolutely right about the filter! Hats the most simplest f things to service yet certain types of mechanics re too interested in looking at text msg or smoke breaks to do the right thing. The owners of these businesses pay big bucks in wages. Get it right for goodness sakes!!
Enjoyed your honest review Rob, I stumbled on your video since I am considering purchasing one of these myself and will definitely return to view any more Outlander videos you have - am disappointed to hear about your service experience (not totally surprised however) I have had some similar experiences with other places near where I live. Laziness is what it is…I try do as much as I can on my own and always ask others I trust for service recommendations to do what I am unable to do on my own…that is frustrating but it seems to work for me. Keep being real - thanks 😊
Hey Rob, honesty will always be the best policy, and the only person that you can really trust is yourself. Stay positive and strong alright sir. If you have stickers for both your YT channels as well, I'd like some of those as well at some point, thanks kindly for being truthful and having selective trusting if you will. Have a great week and take care, bye for now. #Freedom 🙂
Hey Rob, I was looking forward to see someone I sort of know to review this machine, I thought it had some high hopes for Can Am (Even though most can am people think it "wont have enough power" haha) I was happy your did a review. I love how Can am is always trying to innovate & improve stuff, I love the front storage, I wish I had something like that. The rear trunk/bed thing is sort of a cool design I've never seen before (Maybe the old Honda Big Red ATC's had that little trunk thing) but it's a cool design. the storage spot for your camera is really nice and I have one on my Grizzly as well. I love the quick clips/knobs to remove the plastic panels as well (as long as they hold up to the wind from being trailered behind a truck) But man what a kick in the d*ck with your air filter/dealer.... wtf are they thinking, thats Such an easy thing to check and clean.... And I dono if it was just the camera but it looks like the pre filter fits very loose on the actual filter, I know the Yamaha one is much tighter. You had every right to give a honest review of the dealer.... who cares if they don't like it, maybe they should do better business. I know I'd be F'n pissed if I dealt with that. Love your little atv trailer, where did you get that? is it any good? thanks for the video, always stay honest.
Thanks Man! Appreciate it! I got the Trailer from Canadian Tire years ago, really works well, been thru a lot, just took it on a ride thru some crazy trails. Haven't had any issues with it. Ya, the pre-filter seems to fit a little loose but when I cleaned and oiled it and let it dry, it seemed to fit a bit better. Glad you liked the review, thanks!
I’m waiting for your 1 year review before I consider switching back to Can am. I do admit though I’m really liking the storage options. Is the center storage compartment a decent size like the Grizzly and I’m curious how hot it’ll get inside. Great review.
It is a decent size and does get a little warm in there but not hot. I keep a camera in there with no problems. I don't know what the Grizzly one is like. Thanks Man!
What winch did you go with? I like how the Can-am integrates into the control box (where the start button is). But people say they aren’t very good. A Warn VRX 35 or axon seems incompatible. I’m kinda at a loss
I went with the Canadian Tire Maximum but not happy with it. I've used the Canadian Tire Champion before and was happy with it. Probably go with the Champion again when this one dies. Never liked any of the Warn winches that came with my Can Am's previously. Good Luck and thanks for commenting Ben!
Did you have any issues mounting the "g2" style hand guards on this machine?? My local dealer says they wont fit but obviously you have them on your machine.
Only issue was the rubber inserts in the end of the handle bars. Supposed to dig them out I guess but I just left them in so the end screws are tight and the guards will shift and not hurt my wrists in case of a get off. These were displayed on a G3 at my dealer when I bought the machine. Thanks!
I know the engine is further up front then normal. But i can wheelie stock 660 and 700 grizzlies.....Trick is , throttle first, then body english second 👍
I don't want a ATV that will wheelie because of Black Trails are Insane now and have to keep us with the SXS and even out do most with my Sportsman XP1000 that has a 63 1/2" wheelbase and 52" weight is 1,200 lb. Or my Scrambler XP1000 S that has 64" wheelbase and 58 " wide.
I just bought the 700 xt version of this. Pick it up this week and replacing my 2007 700 grizz I’ve had since new. Funny watching the reviews of can am and a belt is always a concern. The grizz has the original still. Also nervous about giving up the diff lock for visco and reliability. However the can am is 3400$ cad less (after the financing deals) and comes with a lot more features than a new grizz. Also, the grizz really hasn’t changed at all either. First time I hear about the fuel pump. Might be an overzealous dealer guy watching Scotty Kilmer who says the same thing about car fuel pumps. Probably a non issue. Anyway, we will try the can am and if it’s horrible then it’s back to the grizz!
Ya, all depends on what you intend on using it for. No belt issues or fuel pump issues on mine. I'm not keen about the visco either as I've replaced two on other machines before. Maybe by the time this one craps out there will be a torque locker install for it. Congrats and good luck with your purchase!
Doesn't compare to the twins obviously, half the horse power. But I am still pleased with the power for trail riding. Only time I felt a little low on power was in 8" of snow with the 28" tires on going up hill. If you're looking for a mud machine, the twin power is the way to go. Trail riding and occasional mud, these work great.
I've been planning on getting a new quad for a while now. My Brute Force (650 solid rear axle) has, and is still serving me well, but it's time. It was always gonna be a Kingquad750 or a Kodiak 700. Only recently did I discover that the Outlander had a gen 3, so I started watching reviews. The first of yours that I watched was up on Magone road. Caught my attention right away - I've ridden there! Of course within a few videos I knew I had to subscribe! Great channel, especially for a local. I'll be scouring your ride areas and following some of your tracks. Now after watching your 24 hour review, I'm questioning where I'd buy (if I do). Like the old saying goes - The truth hurts. And in this case, it may hurt the local dealer. Fort Frances isn't all that far away. Just sayin. One of the things that draws me to the Kodiak is the lower seat height. I get on and off the Brute over and over when I'm doing chores around the house and I have a good size trunk on the rear rack that makes throwing my leg over a bit of a hassle. I hate scuffing the seat with my shoe. So my real question is this: Is the 38" seat height hard to get used to? Does it feel high? How high off the floorboards is it?
Thanks Man, appreciate the Sub! I have short legs, so I'm always scrubbing the seat with my boot when I get off the machine (annoying for sure). The seat isn't that high off the floor boards, 24" to be exact. The machine has a high center of ground clearance. It doesn't have the power of the twin cylinder Brutes but it has enough for the stuff I put it thru these days. I laid it all out in the 24hr review. The seat is real comfy still after over 1000kms of some pretty gnarly trails. I'm happy and the price was right. Good luck with your new purchase and Happy Trails! There's also a dealer in Terrace Bay and Longlac I believe.
i ordered the plow mounting pins for my gen3 a month ago .not available till mid late november. really can am?? by mid november we have at least a foot of snow in canada.also been waiting 6 weeks now for a fender.
That's lousy treatment from the dealer. Another thing to point out, did they oil that air filter sleeve? Because Can-Am doesn't. I found mine dry and called the dealer, he said "check your manual, no oil added to this model". I found that very strange. The manual also says to check the oil after you run it for at least a minute. Now I read that before I do anything...lol.
I believe the filter was oiled from the factory unless they actually put oil on it at the dealer but I doubt they did. I always lightly oil the pre-filter, especially when it's dusty. Thanks Man!
@@RobFarrowATV No problem. But that's my point, the factory doesn't do it on these but some dealers who don't pay attention automatically do because they "always have done it that way"
They seem like a great all around tire, had a little chipping off the middle knobs but nothing major. Seem to work well on all terrain. I'm happy with them. These are 27" as opposed to the 26" stock. Thanks Stephen!
I didnt hear to mention the difference with the outlander and outlander pro. The pro is designed more for work than trail. The pro has stiffer suspension, 26" 6ply tires, and geared for more low end torque. If you wamt strictly trail.....go with outlander...
Ya I didn't really compare the two, I just said this one was work and trail. It's a very comfy ride, doesn't seem to have a super stiff suspension. Thanks Tod!
Regular outlander doesn't have the 4-lok front diff. Have to go pro or xmr for it. While you may never need an full locking front diff when you need it you need it. That was a mistake on canams part. Front locking diff should have been on their trail machines to go up against the grizzly and others.
Been watching you l o l on the quad the last few rides we've done. Looks like a comfortable machine easy to work on. And I really love however silly watching you. Shift the gear selector I can't believe how easy it looks now. While I'm sitting there doing the can am hump beside you. Thank you for the real honest review..
Pretty good review Rob. I can't say anything about Can Am's because I never owned one. I have heard many stories and not many were good. I can however tell you I love Polaris. I have owned Polaris's, and I can't think of anything bad to say even if I tried to lie. I believe the Polaris company learned to listen to their customers. You know there is something I can say bad about Polaris. They didn't have places for drinks. and the toolbox that Polaris had in the back of the machine was not waterproof.
@@RobFarrowATV I had pretty good luck with Suzuki as well but after owning a Polaris, I was hooked like a drug addict. Funny thing about my Suzuki quad. The damn thing floats. People didn't believe me, and I was in water over 10 feet deep and I was floating. The water never past my knees. But I put my Polaris's through hell and beat on them like I stole it. The only things I had to replace on them were tires and batteries.
@@RobFarrowATV My first ATV was a 3-wheeler. I bought it for a song. A kid I knew had one and his parents were not really happy about it. They told the kid he was going to kill himself on it. He didn't have it more then a month and he flipped it rolled it and he got hurt pretty bad. I stopped in to see how he was doing, and he whispered he was getting rid of the ATV. I acted like I didn't want it. His parents then came in and told him the ATV is going and they didn't care if it was in the crusher. I think I paid500 for it and I had to fix the handlebars and the lights. I had fun with that for a couple years and sold it for 1200.
With the fuel pump and not running the fuel too low, it's like everything that has an electric fuel pump even trucks & cars. It's a submerged pump and when you run fuel low it will put extra ware on the fuel pump, you can run it low if you have to but I would not run it low if you don't have to.
They are the Mud Lite II's, seem like a decent tire, grip really well. Couple small chunks out of them on the first couple rides but haven't done it since.
When ever I take anything to dealer or any service shop on ANYTHING I own, all bolts ect where areas they will be saying they found a problem or work on will be marked by paint pen and or tape ect to see if they actually do what they said! If not they will not get any money!
The gas tank fuel pump that is connected to the gas gauge is a small thing made in China. It can test good but is failing. Don’t worry about tank gas level. Just enjoy machine and replace pump $350 when the engine hesitates
Ya I read that in the manual afterwards, 100hrs. I think their 20hr and 50hr is a money scam. Not bringing it to them for the 50hr now, doing it myself. Thanks Man!
P.S. Do you still require a license to drive ATVs?, just curious, I'm not an expert regarding these bikes. Whether you bought this machine used or new, you still want a quality product and service, since you didn't get the best of service, the company needs to know that, so they hopefully improve themselves. You should do more product reviews as well like these Rob, all the best.
Rob,I have a question/, My son, here in Thunder Bay purchased the 850 Outlander Max,with extended warranty at about the exact same time you did. $24 Grand out the door! He brought it in for it first service, and they charged him $600,00 bucks for the first service before they even looked at it! Is this right??? Did it cost that much for you to have the first service on your 700? Doesn't seem right to me....
Ya, it's about 600 with the 5/30 oil and about 700 with the 0/30 oil which I got. They charge a flat rate now which supposedly includes 4 hours of work. I'm sure they don't take 4 hours and that's where they make their money. The Can Am oil is pretty expensive to begin with also. But if you don't record the work properly they can turn around and say you voided the warranty. Games...
@@RobFarrowATV we got the quad back today, and they seem to have done a good job. After watching your video,we went over it check mark by check mark. They probably seen this video, and realised that they had better smartin up! Gary Johnson's side by side has been sitting there for almost two years! Might get it back this week..maybe .. My son in law sent in a 600 ski doo sled in to them last year ,they told him he needed a new motor! We dragged it out of there, and changed the plugs, the sled runs fine! Anyways, great video! I think you might have got these guys at Thunder Bay Can Am to smartin up! Good job! Thanks for your reply👍😁
Wow, don't know what their skill level is there but here, they don't appreciate the good mechanics and they end up leaving. Learning how to do your own work is essential, unless you're rich and I'm not even close to being rich or even well off.
Dealers say stupid crap to test customers to see if your ignorant or not about automotive. And some of them don’t know their butt from a hole in the ground
I manage a service department in construction industry, sometime there are confusions, misunderstandings and sometime laziness. Bad reviews should be the case after service provider was given a chance to correct issues and refused.
Ah buddy, kind of sounds like my Polaris experience. My advice, try and trade it in on a Honda, or Yamaha, depending on your budget. If it’s in your budget the grizzly to me was a good feeling machine. I know pretty much what I am getting with Honda. If not Honda, then Yamaha. If Yamaha, make sure everything is assembled correctly before you leave the dealership, the dealerships do more assembling on their Yamaha machines, than the Honda machines. I mean, personally I would just do my own service on the machine. Go buy a service/repair manual for your machine and do your own servicing. You will be happier if you do.
The level of incompetence of service is infuriating. I think what you experienced, is what we all get these days. I dread taking my Grizzly, my motorcycle, Lawn mower, sno-blower, or anything else in for service. I could write a book about it.
Ya I know that but when they check it off as fine and it's not, well that's not right, means they didn't even look at it even though it's on their service list!
I’m sorry but if you buy a brand new machine it should be SPOTLESS!! Can am dealer here had a couple new 850s in the showroom and it looked like the drove it through a mud puddle on the way up from the shop to the showroom. 🤦♂️
You were very nice despite being taken advantage of. Shame on the "stealership" - now everything has to be rechecked b/c of a half-a@# job. The least they could do is refund your money as it's evident they put no effort into doing the job. This crap Pi#$es me off b/c of the cost we are charged. In a perfect world you would be reimbursed, Can Am would come down heavy on the dealership for harming customer base, and the so-called technician fired on the spot!

the service is like there where i am too, took my truck to be serrviced says cleaned battery then when i got it back it still had corrosion on the terminals and had to clean myself, payed 350 bucks for the priemum service package and i also dont think they changed the oil filter but im tired of fightening with them doesnt seem to help
Take photos and post photos and bill saying it was done. Tag them! Service is getting pretty shitty everywhere.
Love the squirrel chatter in the background!
Lots of the Red Squirrels in this area and most of them yell at me LOL! Thanks Man!
Absolutely right about the filter! Hats the most simplest f things to service yet certain types of mechanics re too interested in looking at text msg or smoke breaks to do the right thing. The owners of these businesses pay big bucks in wages. Get it right for goodness sakes!!
Thanks Dave!
Thank You! So far it's been a great machine. You can check out my playlist on it here... th-cam.com/play/PLkwEjtGXKqiNm84lqf2XtsDwQ4nbdKZiS.html
#Freedom 🙂
Thanks Marc!
Nice 👍
I don't want a ATV that will wheelie because of Black Trails are Insane now and have to keep us with the SXS and even out do most with my Sportsman XP1000 that has a 63 1/2" wheelbase and 52" weight is 1,200 lb.
Or my Scrambler XP1000 S that has 64" wheelbase and 58 " wide.
Precise, honest, detailed, you rock thank you.
How is plowing ???
Thanks Man! Haven't had to try it in any heavy snow yet but seems like it will do just fine for plowing.
Ran mine to the fuel light. No issues
Ya, fuel light comes on pretty early, then starts flashing, can go a lot further at that point. Thanks Man!
I thought no service required for a year
I just bought the 700 xt version of this.
Canam is way to go. They make the add on items that fit perfect with Yamaha grip heat and other things are after market that have to be fitted
Since you’ve had older V2 how does this new engine feel compared? I was a bit let down these are not V2 anymore.
My Can Am dealer are lousy as heck too! Seems like the trend from Can Am dealerships?
Ya, it's kinda a sorry situation but I now there's a few good dealers out there, trick is finding them. Thanks!
i ordered the plow mounting pins for my gen3 a month ago .not available till mid late november. really can am?? by mid november we have at least a foot of snow in canada.also been waiting 6 weeks now for a fender.
Wow, ya they seem to be pretty slow will stuff for the machine. Good luck with your orders. Thanks Man!
But that's my point, the factory doesn't do it on these but some dealers who don't pay attention automatically do because they "always have done it that way"
Hi Rob, how are you liking the Mud Lite 2s? They seem a bit bigger than the OEM tires. What size are they?
They seem like a great all around tire, had a little chipping off the middle knobs but nothing major. Seem to work well on all terrain. I'm happy with them. These are 27" as opposed to the 26" stock. Thanks Stephen!
@@RobFarrowATV Cool thanks!
No problem
LOL! Thanks Marc! I try not to watch you humping the Can Am...
@@RobFarrowATV lol
Pretty good review Rob. I can't say anything about Can Am's because I never owned one. I have heard many stories and not many were good. I can however tell you I love Polaris. I have owned Polaris's, and I can't think of anything bad to say even if I tried to lie. I believe the Polaris company learned to listen to their customers. You know there is something I can say bad about Polaris. They didn't have places for drinks. and the toolbox that Polaris had in the back of the machine was not waterproof.
Thanks Man! That's great, glad you've had good luck with Polaris.
I remember when the old 3-wheelers used to float LOL!
They need to redesign the pump then, pretty lame. Thanks Man!
what kind of tires did you upgrade to??
They are the Mud Lite II's, seem like a decent tire, grip really well. Couple small chunks out of them on the first couple rides but haven't done it since.
When ever I take anything to dealer or any service shop on ANYTHING I own, all bolts ect where areas they will be saying they found a problem or work on will be marked by paint pen and or tape ect to see if they actually do what they said! If not they will not get any money!
Smart, thanks Larry!
The gas tank fuel pump that is connected to the gas gauge is a small thing made in China. It can test good but is failing. Don’t worry about tank gas level. Just enjoy machine and replace pump $350 when the engine hesitates
Haven't had an issue with it, she's been running great. Thanks!
Wait 20 hours then you leave it in? My dealer on my atv is 100 hours or 3000km…. But i got a 1000T can am but Why so early tho
Thanks Marc! To drive on Canadian crown land you need Driver's license, insurance and off road plated.
Just curious why you didn't go to the General Manager or at least the service manager about your issue? Definitely not the salesman's fault.
It escalated to the top and to BRP...
Hows the fuel range on it?
172kms and almost empty...
Anyways,great video!
I think you might have got these guys at Thunder Bay Can Am to smartin up! Good job!
Thanks for your reply👍😁
Glad to hear, thanks!
I had mine going 113km/h - plenty fast
Plenty fast is right! Thanks Man!
you are 10000% corect wit all of it
Thanks Man! So far really great machine.
@@RobFarrowATV whatever I can do by myself with my cars motorcycles ATVs snowmobiles I do The dealer in Chicago charges $160 an hour it is ridiculous
Wow, don't know what their skill level is there but here, they don't appreciate the good mechanics and they end up leaving. Learning how to do your own work is essential, unless you're rich and I'm not even close to being rich or even well off.
Looks like they oiled the pre filter. That’s how it’s supposed to be.
Oiled ya, full of dirt no! They didn't even touch the filter during their service, even though the sheet was checked off as doing so.
I would request a refund on the service. Now you don't know if the fluids have been changed so you HAVE to do it yourself now
I'm pretty much giving up on service here in TBay, it's getting so you can't trust anyone anymore.
10k is price of machine, what's the other $2500 for?
Tax, Prep, Dpi, handling, touching, stroking, Ogling, etc...
My sons 20 year old outlander goes over 60
This one is a work machine, not built for speed. My 2016 XMR 850 did 55mph in low range...
Dealers say stupid crap to test customers to see if your ignorant or not about automotive. And some of them don’t know their butt from a hole in the ground
Good to know
You named out all the quads you had over the years try a Yamaha grizzly and give your opinion on it
If I had the money I would. Cubbee had a Grizzly and loved it and I haven't heard anything bad about them. Thanks Kevin!
I manage a service department in construction industry, sometime there are confusions, misunderstandings and sometime laziness. Bad reviews should be the case after service provider was given a chance to correct issues and refused.
Third time they've done me wrong and it's not just a misunderstanding...sometimes reviews are needed!
@@RobFarrowATV agree
This is a great machine, just service sucks. Keeping the machine and doing the work myself or sending it out of town.
They should've REPLACED such a CHEAP part. Pathetic! Seems like a great machine all around!
The dealer did go good for a warranty replacement part but the new part was still not fitting tight. Nothing a little heat couldn't fix. Thanks Man!
The level of incompetence of service is infuriating. I think what you experienced, is what we all get these days. I dread taking my Grizzly, my motorcycle, Lawn mower, sno-blower, or anything else in for service. I could write a book about it.
Might be a best seller! Thanks Man!
Shops don’t clean filters bud
They're supposed to at least mark it what it is when it's a Full Service! Not mark it clean when it's dirty!
@@RobFarrowATV it’s either clean, or needs replacing. Argue all you want, that’s how it works
Ya I know that but when they check it off as fine and it's not, well that's not right, means they didn't even look at it even though it's on their service list!
Just bought a yamaha 700 (uk) but I’ll check after first service period piss poor service (refund me thinks)
Congrats! Hope everything goes well for you!
Typical dealer service. How much was the service?
Can't remember the exact cost but it wasn't cheap. Thanks Rob!
Nice review. Hope it lasts for you, I know you are a stickler on maintenence.
Thanks Fred! I'm really hoping for a great machine in the long run, so far so good!
oH Hell no I would be hot AF!! And for sure would NOT be paying for that service!!!
Ya, it was a little disappointing to say the least. Thanks Man!
I'd be pissed i would tear a strip off that dealer
Thanks Mark!
I’m sorry but if you buy a brand new machine it should be SPOTLESS!! Can am dealer here had a couple new 850s in the showroom and it looked like the drove it through a mud puddle on the way up from the shop to the showroom. 🤦♂️
Ya, look's like that's what they did with this one. Thanks Michael!
Just return it
Easier just to do it myself, less down time and I know it's done right.
You've never lied?..not even once?
Haven't for many years and especially not when it comes to my ATVs!
Thanks Man! They offered but I ignored them as this was the third time they've done this kinda thing.
😎👍🍻
Thank You!
✌️🇨🇦
Thanks Man!
They didnt do anything, yet I bet you they charged you for it.
You bet, standard rate now no matter how long it takes, so the quicker it's done, the more money they make.
Ya it’s junk. Should stayed with Honda.where was can-am?????
Picked up a 2024 today. Taking it out fishing tomorrow, looking forward to it.
Also ended up with a date with a lady who works at the dealership, so good day overall.
