  • Stephane Rochet and Whitney Martin hit some heavy deads while at the CrossFit Games. Workout of the day for 220831:
    Deadlift 5-5-5-5-5 reps
    Post loads to comments.
    Compare to 220227.
    Scaling:
    Ideally, each set will be as heavy as possible for 5 reps, but newer athletes should start light and add weight as they are comfortable.

    Wide feet stance! Wide grip with arms! A big no for heavy DL! The closer to the body the havier you can push!

    Looks like she's using a lot of back in her lifts.
    You can tell by watching the hips and shoulders at the start of the lift. If the shoulders rise at a faster rate than the hips, it's usually an indicator that they're pulling with their back rather than pushing with their legs.
    Could also be that she's doing a straight leg deadlift though.

      Yes! just scale everything as much as you need. You can scale weight, time, reps. Just make sure you're working 👍

    I see one person doing RDL’s and the other doing deadlifts

      They are both clearly doing a normal deadlift. Neither of those are RDLs

      @@robs1714 yeah. You can see both of them press with their legs and hinge at the hips with every rep. Her second and third sets are filmed from the front so it's deceiving
