What if for the middle part of cake, you use an edible icing sheet. Would you still put cake in fridge or freezer to harden? And if yes, for how long?

In my experience whipped cream will not looks like it and will not hold a heavy decorations like the candy on top. This recipe is a buttercream one only and decorations matching the buttercream one only.
