Guillaume d'Angerville's enthusiasm for the Jura wine region began after a sommelier in Paris poured him a blind tasting glass of Chardonnay, which impressed him greatly and mistook the contents for a Burgundy.
This led to a five-year search for a location in the Jura. He consulted with a renowned geologist to find ideal vineyards. Eventually he acquired two domaines, one with well-tended vines and one with vineyards in need of renewal. He named it Domaine du Pélican, in reference to the pelican on the coat of arms of the city of Arbois.
