Thanks for helping me fix my power head on my Miele C3. This video gave me the confidence to take it apart and give it a go when it didn't feel like it was self propelling on higher height carpets. I got a ton of dog hair out of the motor area and gave it a good cleaning. I still had to figure things out, like how to reinstall the height adjuster correctly. The adjuster needs to go in later on my head too. You gave me the confidence to give it a try though and I appreciate that!
Thanks for posting this video. I'm pretty mechanical. There was definitely some figuring out left to do, and on my Miele, the springs aren't the same height. Lots of videos and pictures were snapped while I was taking the head apart. I got out a ridiculous amount of dog hair from the motor area, and now, I can push it on my new carpet without an arm work out happening. I won't call it self propelled, but it's easy to push now.
So FINALLY! I found a video and another vacuum user with that weird black on there heads. Well for me I have found 2 different issues in my house of that black build up.. Number 1 is I thought it was coming from the stairs. It was an old set that had this black goo on them. I think it maybe old carpet glue or some wood protectant breaking down. I carpeted the steps and it did help. I was still getting some black build up, especially on my kirby wheels and metal bottom brush plate. I decided to stop using carpet shampoo and just hot water. That solved 98% of it and my carpets are deteriorating more slowly now. That soap is almost impossible to get out but a lot of carpet manufactures have a warranty that only applies if the carpet is cleaned a certain way.
My SEB 236 is due for service - thanks for reminding me. I have a question - I have a s5981 AUS 240v model from the mid 2000's I feel that the hose has become stiffer than it was. I purchased it as faulty in 2013 so have not had it from new. I also have a spare hose that seems to be the same. It might just be me. Cheers.
Hi, great tutorial. I have a 217-3 and it has stopped spinning. I took the case off and cleaned the brush but it still doesn’t work. Any ideas? Thank you.
thank you for posting this, do you by chance have a photo of the circuit board with wires attached in the SEB 228? i have been scouring the internet for one, I took a photo just after detaching the yellow wires, so i have the motor wires on the right connectors, a bit wary of just trying all the options of wire placement.
Very informative videos. So based on what you have shown here want to know if this would work . I have a C3 Powerline model with a Ses-121 hose + handle . Buying a Wessel Werk ebk360 and Wessel werk electric wand. Will the end of the handle (ses 121) fit into the Weasel Werk WAND? Thanks so much. Also ebk360 is 2.5amps vs. Seb 228 which is 1.65amps. Any issues with that? We have powerhead socket built into the C3 canister Powerline Homecare
@@PerformanceReviews Any clues as to how to get the wires out of the junction connectors? I got a new neck but those connection points are brutal. Thanks again.
@@PerformanceReviews Sorry. I meant it looks like overkill to get the roller and inlet for the vacuum. I was hoping there was something more accessible for the end user who doesn't wish to disasemble the entire vacuum... or have access to torx bits. Unfortunately after studying the problem and googling some more... yes. This video is the way to do it and it's very well presented. I'll be doing it tonight. Thank you!
silly question but on teh beater bar SEb228 I cannot remove the left-hand side of beater bar @7:07 - It's basically seized with hair. Can i get a replacement part for the bar or does the whole head have to be replaced?
All I want to do is clean the spinning brush. I have to disassemble the whole thing to get to it? It’s hard to believe the brush isn’t a simple snap in/out retractable cylinder thing.
How common is it for the Miele SEB 236 to just lose power? Reset button dead too. Had it in for service last year. It was working beautiful. I’m guessing it is a short. Great video!!
I don't have this particular power head, so I am wondering if it's OK to ask about another power head please? I am subscribed, as I really enjoy your videos (they are informative and I always watch with a certain focus that I'd say borders on obsessive). I'm a vacuum cleaner collector ---just started ---so I'm breaking into this niche with plenty of enthusiasm.
Our SEB 228 wrapped a cord (rope) and I had to disassemble (GULP!) the head to remove it. When finished, I had a problem with the height adjuster not working. You placed the spring then the outer disc on the roller which I did before replacing it. The activation lever was up, and facing the same way as you had done. When it went back together, there wasn't a definite click or height change. Any ideas? Thank you for the great explanation on service.
I am guessing that the plastic clip, that sits below the metal lever in the height adjustment assembly, is missing or not snapped on the metal front wheel assembly
I had this issue. I needed to have the "1" showing at the top and the metal piece connected to the button that pops out of the adjustment assembly. Took a second time assembling because it isn't just a pop it in and be done. Notice that the cam shape isn't perfectly round.
Yes it's one of the easiest ever made. Which is why I chose it so that my wife could use it with ease if that was ever necessary. The only thing easier to push that I have found is the discontinued SEBO ET-H.
I appreciate that you took the time to make this video but it's not very useful when you call out "This is where most people gets stuck" then block the view the entire time you're fixing it without describing what you're doing. Has anyone found a diagram or a different video that shows how the wiring is routed?

My roller doesn’t work. Belt is on, everything is brand new. This is a brand new machine. I have the electro plus head. I don’t have the one with the reset button. I tried the reset on the on off for the head button, nothing is working. But again, brand new. It does get the air pull for the head but no spin 😩
Best video on this I found. Thank you.

Thank you so much, After watching this video I was able to replace a brush roller myself.
Thanks again.👍🧡
I’d bet mine’s due for a servicing too. You’ve had yours a couple years longer though.

If you have a Miele you cannot attach central vacuum parts and expect them to work. You need to buy genuine Miele parts for your local dealer.

This was a big help
Thank you!
You're welcome thanks for watching
Thanks for the help. Any chance you have a link to the parts? Any chance you have a video of the neck disassembly? Mine seems to have broken a wire.
You'll need to buy the part from your local Miele dealer

I'm just trying to figure out how to clean mine. This seems like obvious overkill and I'm sure there's a better way. Good content, though.
It's really not Overkill this probably should be done every 4-5 years

I prefer the ET-1 on a Central Vac. Much quieter and more aesthetically pleasing. Still a nice head you've got though.
I will have a video on that soon .

Sounds like a open somewhere . I would bring it back in for service.
@@PerformanceReviews I’ll have to. Thank you!
I wish he opened it on an open table so the cameraman could video on the opposite side to make it clearly.
Camara man? 😂
Id like to be able to SEE what you are doing when you take it apart. 🤦♀️
Same here
