I am so going for this hairstyle at my next social event! I love historical costumes and hairstyles and I think it's fun incorporating them in daily life. The looks that I get for breaking the norm are priceless (and that's a bonus!)
If you do this style, I suggest talking to a stylist first or getting them to do it. If not, may I offer some advice (as someone who used to spend a lot of time in curlers and took a hairstyling class): when rolling curlers start at the top, when unrolling them start at the bottom; a wide tooth comb like hers is great for separating curls (do this as you unroll); tease hair with a regular comb and *always* tease the back, not the front - you smooth the style from the front. Remember, the more you touch a curl, the frizzier it gets.
Fun fact, a lot of 18th century hairstyles (especially those giant 1770s/1780s updos with a lot of height) used a combination of cushions, hair rats (wads of hair), and hair pieces (poor people really did sell their hair, thank you Les Mis) to get that massive volume that was so popular! So you can absolutely still get a historically accurate hairstyle using your own hair even if it is thin, you just have to find some extensions that match, a bunch of those bun donut things, and go ham :'D
You can also make the “hair rat” from your own hair whenever you get a haircut (as long as the pieces are 3cm+ in length), you simply get a pantyhose/stocking (easiest with the foot part) and start putting the hair into it until it is the right size needed, then push it down a bit and tie it off. Some people will use synthetic hair from old wigs or long horse mane hair for this too, but it can be a bit prickly on the scalp compared to human hair.
@@elenalizabethI've seen people do that when they create the Victory Roll hairstyle! They use their own hair that they pull out of their brushes. Such a good (and free!) idea to add volume to a hairstyle.

I think most of us here watch her videos twice. As for me, there's no other way. First session is to sleep. But considering all the effort and cinematographic quality put into the production of these videos, it would be unfair and ungrateful not to see them in their entirety.
For those hairstyles, a lot of them were, in fact wigs. They were set with lye, hot metal tongs, white wig powder. For tall hair they did use wads of human hair, but rats were made from collecting hairbrush hair. The styles got very tall and would be decorated with flowers, fruits, and in one case a small boat. They would breed lice, and ladies had long picks to scratch their scalps. To hide the stench, heavy perfume was used. By the time of the guillotine, all the victims heads were shaved before execution.

This was another beautifully done video. I especially loved the scalp massage. Soo nice. And the tutorial style gave me an idea for another video concept that I would love to see you doing (if you like the idea, of course). Maybe we, the viewers, are a new servant at the house of our lady and she ordered us to watch you, an experienced servant, do her hair, so we could learn how to do it too. And you could teach us how to do it, and also how to behave in front of her and what she likes/dislikes. Or something like that. I don't know, just an idea that popped into my mind, because I loved the last servant video of you so much
Ive been using your videos to help with anxiety and sleeplessness for over a year now but this one really struck a different chord in me and I want to share it because I feel really appreciative for it. I have a lot of trauma around my mom and have a very hard time recalling positive memories from childhood with her in them.... watching the hair brushing part flooded me with images and sensations of mom brushing my hair as a kid and that was a really gentle time with her. I've been pretty lost feeling for many years about her and so thanks for helping to bring that connection to light for me :)

I did something like this in the fifth grade (but of course to a much lesser extent!) when I wanted to be Alice from Alice in Wonderland. My hair is naturally straight so my mom wrapped my hair around strips of towel overnight and in the morning I was happy! I thought I looked just like her! (Never mind the hair was both way too short and wrong color but I couldn’t have been happier).
