    something to consider. when tightening the variator, tighten and little, the hand spin the variator. tighten a little more, and hand spin yet again. keep doing this until torque is achieved. by doing this, you verify that the variator is properly tightened. just some thoughts.

    Just a tip...you dont have to remove the lower panel to access the cover bolts hidden behind. If you weld an 8 mm socket to an old screw driver or type of steel shaft thats similar... works for many times, need someone with very small hands is handy for that too. Thanks also for your clip. Clean job.

    to compress the clutch assembly spring, place it on the ground and then put both of your feet on it and press down. with the correct socket and your impact wrench, you can easily remove it. then release your feet slowly and there you have it. consider that.

    • @honkerman74
      @honkerman74  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is one way, but using the correct tool avoids damage to me and the part. If someone else wishes to do that, it's their choice, but I didn't think suggesting taking the nut off without the proper spring compression tool was something I wanted to recommend (liability and all)

    I was hoping to see more about the clutch roller and needle roller bearing replacement. I've just bought those parts for my 2012 PCX150 (7,500km) - the bearing has been noisy since new, but has now reached a point where I want to sort it out. I also managed to get some of the correct grease from Shell, I'll probably have to take it to someone to strip the clutch housing, extract the old bearings etc.

    • @honkerman74
      @honkerman74  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't do much with the needle bearing because I just replaced the assembly. Since I had the spring compression done at a shop, there wasn't anything to show on camera.

    great video. I have a SH125i and they share many of the same parts. my bike isnt even a year old yet and i get this annoying whirly bearing sound from the transmission at idle. wheel dosent freely spin when on stand. i thought it may be lack of gear oil or this, that bearing or needle bearing behind the CVT. how many miles/KM before you had to change yours?

    I know your scoot is a bit different from the newer 2015 up PCX, but would you still say that it would be a worthwhile upgrade to one of those too? I'm very surprised that you were able to get to 70+ so easily! I'm overseas right now and I currently have a Honda Click 125i, and I top out about 100 to 110 kph. When I get back to the states, I was heavily thinking about getting a PCX 150, but didn't know how it would do at highway speeds. Since I live in TX, and everything is via highway, I didn't know if it would be scary or uncomfortable taking it to speed like that.

      research and see if they have aftermarket steering dumper for PCX.
      I used to have Yamaha 135LC, after upgrading the engine I was able to get 150kph (94mph) but it got scary at 120 (75mph).
      with steering dumper I can ride up to 143kph (89mph) with just hand. best thing I ever did

      The bearing is inside the clutch. You replace it by buying the whole piece. It’s less expensive and time consuming. Did you even watch the video? The answer is within the first minute of the video that the bearing is inside the driven pulley
