From what I understand, subbing now only locks you in for the full release that will will probably start around the time the Stormbringer magazine starts to wrap up, and doesn't actually get you the trial issues. It seems the only way to get ahold of issues during the trial is buy them from the shops in the area that the trial is taking place. Stockport, Swansea and the surrounding area in this case, from the looks of it.
@@Rotebearda well you'll get the librarian to but I could see a lot of ancients and chaplains being kitbashed. Best use I can think of is making extra heavy weapon terminators so you don't have to worry about magnetising and losing bits.

I feel like a lot of people just want a monthly subscription box for warhammer and would be curious of the results.

@@GeoffSmitessome magazines are quite nice, like the magpi magazine has all manner of projects you can create and instructions for the project, and it is a great way to see what others are doing. Take this with a grain of salt though as I haven't subscribed in a couple years.
@@GeoffSmitesits not really a magazine as such, it's about 10-20 pages of build instructions and painting guides for the included minis, scenarios and how-to-play, adverts for the next issues, and a few pages of lore. I don't think a single person would want the magazine by itself as its only purpose is to help you build and paint the minis in the collection and get started playing and give you a little background of the lore.
I would like to buy it. Seriously i really like the Idea of the combat patrol game mode. And it satisfy my collect all armies obsession. But when i am honest with myself: i will not build and paint even half of that stuff. I have 3 combat patrols build (orks, tyras and SM) and none of them finished painted. Even though i made as simple as possible paintshemes. So for me it will be a hard pass. It kinda hurts a bit but i habe to finish what i already own and the 2 patrols i really want are cheaper to buy directly.
This is my issue too. I like the idea of this, but I'm already behind on my modelling and painting without adding more. And I already own the Marines and Nids CPs from buying Leviathan, so overall going to give it a miss. I have at least finished the Nids CP (as in painted and based), Marines I've only gotten as far as building and undercoating.

This seems like a killer way to get into WH40k Combat Patrol, id be tempted to sub for the entire thing if i didnt already have 4 armies at 2k point level. At the moment, i just dont have room.

In the terms and conditions it says they'll charge you an extra £33 for binder and page dividers during the course of the subscription, jsut one to be aware of.
And make sure to opt out from the additional art work/novels/etc as well if you're not interested. If you don't or miss it, that's another couple of tenners
Kinda conflicted, cause I love me some cheap GW plastic, but I also have 30% of them already (of the total 80 issue run) . But it's almost not worth it if you don't get the premium sub
If you're able to simply pick and choose which ones you want it's not a terrible deal. I picked up a few of the "Imperium" magazine. I play Guard/Imperium but I'll have a go at painting anything. Sometimes having some evil robots or void bugs to paint makes a nice change.

If I see the first issue in the supermarket for £3, I'll pick it up, an extra captain, plus some dice and some spare bits is a deal. I'm gonna keep an eye out for the terminator magazine later down the line (I bet they'll split it into 2!) , but spending £900 on a load of combat patrol boxes seems a bit OTT. Better to just buy the boxes you want.
With the new Ork and Chaos Space Marine Combat patrols being released, I wonder if this is going to be one of the last ways to get the old ones directly. That potentially makes this even more valuable.
I love what I see, I just wish there was clear info if you can get it shipped to Poland. I often feel left out because I live in this second world country, sure they make prices affordable for people here but shipping costs can kill
Im way to new to go for the full subscription, but im definitely interested in getting some of the individual issues, particularly the Leapers, as well as the Barbs and Terms when they get their turn. Though i am in the US so im not sure what the best option is to get my hands on those individual issues
I agree with you. I'm new and might pick up some individual issues to fill out my dark angels army. I picked up Leviathan recently, will be getting the Deathwing Boxset and might pick up one combat patrol box before it goes away.
Hopefully this comes to EU soon! I could really use some cheap marines and the captain, and I could perhaps lure a friend into the hobby with some cool tyranid models 😅
I'll try to pick up the odd copy. Its an okay deal if you're okay with high commitment levels. Im not willing to shell out over a £1000 for a random mix of stuff. Most things I'm looking to get are reasonably priced on third party sites. One or two are GW exclusive. That's just the way it goes. Cheers AT. 👍
This is such a good idea. It's a lot easier to spend $20 a month for a steady stream of models than $200 in one go for a Combat Patrol box. Can't wait for it to come to New Zealand!
I had no issue cancelling an Imperium subscription via email after the first delivery. I seem to remember though that it's 4 issues per delivery, so you're actually cancelling after issue 4.
Got hyped, then let down when I found out it wasn't available in USA. Talk about the rollercoaster of emotions, had my credit card ready and everything lol.
Starter brushes. Either good or bad. Had some last a while and one or two last the thinning the paint stage. But I do feel I will be subbing for a few deliveries. Then pick and chose of the shelf.
I'm so torn on this, all 9 combat patrols are the top 9 armies i'd consider as a 2nd option after my necrons. In pretty much every game i struggle to stick with one thing, dipping into other armies is very expensive in 40k so itd be great for me. it would also be so cool to play combat patrol games with my friend picking and choosing our armies. though £900 minimum for all the issues is a heck of a lot to spend even over 2 years
I'm not sure it has as much appeal as I thought initially. if every issue is a sprue, but everything that's offered is already discounted somewhere else (starter set or combat patrol) then maybe you are better off buying just what you want. here you are purchasing 4 issues for 44€ or so when you have the entire starter box set for 68€. Similar with the combat patrols ... heftier ones like GSC may end up being more expensive in an issue-per-sprue basis rather than just buying the entire thing. as usual, this will be good for the people who are well into buying 2nd hand.
You mentioned in the video that its 80 magazines long, but on the website it says 90 magazines long. Could you do a quick video on this as surely that makes the deal worse than it was previously calculated at? It was already boardering being the same discount as 3rd party retailers, with the extra 10 issues that'll make it even closer surely.

Its great if you want a scattering of armies but not good if you want to focus on one or two armies. The discount isnt amazing and you can lrder individual issues from forbidden planet in the uk if you just want a few units
Look, the Magazine is +£800 if we take £10 issue, plus what they charge for binders/dividers/etc. A combat patrol box is around £75-90. You can buy basically all of them if you want for the same total cost. And you don't need to wait 1.5 years to have them. The magazine is good if you want basic paints, brushes, etc and you enjoy the collecting experience and the "random" stuff you get shipped every month and get a slight discount on hobby stuff.

The only problem I had with the imperium magazine was how long it took to ship as opposed to when I actually paid. I pretty much got the previous set at around the time I paid for the next. It's not really a big deal. Also, I had to wait for 2 months before I could build the motorcycle marines. It would be nice if the 2 issues they came in would be in the same month.
Try and look at the positive, you probably have a back stock of grey plastic to paint anyways. Regardless it is a savings and waiting sucks but it just reminds me of the days of mail order purchases lol
What I really want to know is, with 9 Combat Patrols worth of factions, can we sub to just one run and get one specific faction? Depending on how it's packaged if I could get an Imperial Guard CP for cheap through this sub I'd actually be really interested

I really wanna know when you get the unique Infernus marine, thats kinda all I care about so may have to get that on the second hand market maybe. The 4th issue is nothing to most and well 5 and 6 we dont know but at that point most would have checked out and canceled the sub by then

In the past Tesco and WHS have stocked the early issues at least. My local game store stocked the entire run of imperium, you can also get them from Forbidden Planet and probably a few other places.
Apparently is still not aviable in my country (Spain) and apparently it'll take a while to come here, so I guess I have some time to save money and get these issues. Getting a third of these Nid models is kind of a bummer (But I'll buy 3 Parasites magazines if I can) , but it'll a decent way to start collecting other armies, specially with the extra models. Getting an extra Burgundy bottle won't hurt either.
These usually retail for $20 AU per issue, so works out to a saving of around $650 AU... So, why can't they reduce their prices for normal kits, if they can do this?
@@B1-997 it’s possible they may import stock, but since this is a subscription, they will likely wait for support from hachette directly. There were issues with imperium being imported not getting the advertised bonuses because it wasn’t technically a subscription. Best case Australia will get access in 12+ months (similar to how imperium was) if it does get a local sub it will be around $80-$100 per month (imperium was $80/M here)
@@Sadistichippo sounds about right, I don’t intend on getting all the issues so doing it via gap games will help to pick and choose better, just need to be ready to get the ones I want as soon as they are on the store before being sold out. I would love to get 2 or 3 copies of the leaped one as they’re cool.
I'm curious as how many issues in total this is for. As there seems to be no end to the 200Ad The Ultimate Collection that Hachette are doing. But either way I suspect this is the usual bait n hook type of thing where once your subscribed and want to complete all the issues in binder etc then there'll be nothing to stop Hachette from putting the price up later on.
The trial is running now from 10th Jan but only in a few places in the UK, I know people in Manchester have got copies from tescos. You can also subscribe now but probably won't get anything until the full production run if they go ahead later in the year. If you sub now you should get some extra free gifts or extra free copies when it starts, probably when the Stormbringer collection is nearly finished in a few months.

I subbed to the 9th edition and it was decent experience. Delivery date was standard and then it started to get random and pushed back. Rarely ever an email with a shipping confirmation. Customer support was great when I received incorrect issues. They are currently delayed 3 months back and they’re not sure when the batches are supposed to come so if I don’t hear anything in January I’ll have to cancel and ask for a refund. It’s not bad for someone starting out but it will take you almost 2 years to get the full run and now most of the contents, besides lore, are rather useless. This new 10th edition could be cool to try different army styles and whatnot.
With the other Warhammer magazines (both 40K and AoS), you were able to order individual issues. I guess it's gonna be the same this time, you just have to be quick about it
Your local game store might be able to reserve individual copies for you, mine had multiple copies of each issue. You can also preorder them from Forbidden Planet but some of the higher value issues sell out almost immediately.
Seems to be only UK and Ireland for now when I go to subscribe. Hopefully it will be open to international shipping so I can get it here in the rest of Europe too. We gotta pay VAT now since brexit and the shipping will be higher but i still think it would be good value.

I will flick throught he mags, but my little girl likes the monsters in them. So she will end up with them.

I'm gonna keep an eye out for the terminator magazine later down the line (I bet they'll split it into 2!) , but spending £900 on a load of combat patrol boxes seems a bit OTT. Better to just buy the boxes you want.
With the new Ork and Chaos Space Marine Combat patrols being released, I wonder if this is going to be one of the last ways to get the old ones directly. That potentially makes this even more valuable.

Im way to new to go for the full subscription, but im definitely interested in getting some of the individual issues, particularly the Leapers, as well as the Barbs and Terms when they get their turn. Though i am in the US so im not sure what the best option is to get my hands on those individual issues
I agree with you. I'm new and might pick up some individual issues to fill out my dark angels army. I picked up Leviathan recently, will be getting the Deathwing Boxset and might pick up one combat patrol box before it goes away.
Hopefully this comes to EU soon! I could really use some cheap marines and the captain, and I could perhaps lure a friend into the hobby with some cool tyranid models 😅

This is such a good idea. It's a lot easier to spend $20 a month for a steady stream of models than $200 in one go for a Combat Patrol box. Can't wait for it to come to New Zealand!
I had no issue cancelling an Imperium subscription via email after the first delivery. I seem to remember though that it's 4 issues per delivery, so you're actually cancelling after issue 4.

Starter brushes. Either good or bad. Had some last a while and one or two last the thinning the paint stage. But I do feel I will be subbing for a few deliveries. Then pick and chose of the shelf.

I'm so torn on this, all 9 combat patrols are the top 9 armies i'd consider as a 2nd option after my necrons. In pretty much every game i struggle to stick with one thing, dipping into other armies is very expensive in 40k so itd be great for me. it would also be so cool to play combat patrol games with my friend picking and choosing our armies. though £900 minimum for all the issues is a heck of a lot to spend even over 2 years

I'm not sure it has as much appeal as I thought initially. if every issue is a sprue, but everything that's offered is already discounted somewhere else (starter set or combat patrol) then maybe you are better off buying just what you want. here you are purchasing 4 issues for 44€ or so when you have the entire starter box set for 68€. Similar with the combat patrols ... heftier ones like GSC may end up being more expensive in an issue-per-sprue basis rather than just buying the entire thing.

You mentioned in the video that its 80 magazines long, but on the website it says 90 magazines long. Could you do a quick video on this as surely that makes the deal worse than it was previously calculated at? It was already boardering being the same discount as 3rd party retailers, with the extra 10 issues that'll make it even closer surely.

Conflicted. I like the idea of this magazine a lot, but is a wide variety of combat patrols better than just investing in one or two full armies?
Its great if you want a scattering of armies but not good if you want to focus on one or two armies. The discount isnt amazing and you can lrder individual issues from forbidden planet in the uk if you just want a few units
Look, the Magazine is +£800 if we take £10 issue, plus what they charge for binders/dividers/etc.
A combat patrol box is around £75-90. You can buy basically all of them if you want for the same total cost. And you don't need to wait 1.5 years to have them.
The magazine is good if you want basic paints, brushes, etc and you enjoy the collecting experience and the "random" stuff you get shipped every month and get a slight discount on hobby stuff.

The only problem I had with the imperium magazine was how long it took to ship as opposed to when I actually paid. I pretty much got the previous set at around the time I paid for the next. It's not really a big deal. Also, I had to wait for 2 months before I could build the motorcycle marines. It would be nice if the 2 issues they came in would be in the same month.
Try and look at the positive, you probably have a back stock of grey plastic to paint anyways. Regardless it is a savings and waiting sucks but it just reminds me of the days of mail order purchases lol

I’m conflicted on this run. I feel it’s only super valuable if you go for subscription because of the fact that it’s combat patrols, which are already discount boxes. Imperium, a lot of the models didn’t come in discount boxes.

So far, the first 3 issues seem worth it for the price. I really wanna know when you get the unique Infernus marine, thats kinda all I care about so may have to get that on the second hand market maybe. In the past Tesco and WHS have stocked the early issues at least. My local game store stocked the entire run of imperium, you can also get them from Forbidden Planet and probably a few other places.
Apparently is still not aviable in my country (Spain) and apparently it'll take a while to come here, so I guess I have some time to save money and get these issues. Getting a third of these Nid models is kind of a bummer (But I'll buy 3 Parasites magazines if I can) , but it'll a decent way to start collecting other armies, specially with the extra models. Getting an extra Burgundy bottle won't hurt either.

Issue 5 will probably be the unique Sgt, so I'm guessing Issue 6 will be something Nid related. 10 Termagaunts is my guess.

These usually retail for $20 AU per issue, so works out to a saving of around $650 AU... So, why can't they reduce their prices for normal kits, if they can do this?
It's a case of you get no choice here so you may get the equivalent of nothing while when you buy from the store it's more bespoke

I’d subscribe for all 80 tomorrow if it was available properly in Australia. But we can only get it from a reseller, and not the premium version.

@@B1-997 it’s possible they may import stock, but since this is a subscription, they will likely wait for support from hachette directly. There were issues with imperium being imported not getting the advertised bonuses because it wasn’t technically a subscription.
Best case Australia will get access in 12+ months (similar to how imperium was) if it does get a local sub it will be around $80-$100 per month (imperium was $80/M here)
@@Sadistichippo sounds about right, I don’t intend on getting all the issues so doing it via gap games will help to pick and choose better, just need to be ready to get the ones I want as soon as they are on the store before being sold out. I would love to get 2 or 3 copies of the leaped one as they’re cool.

As there seems to be no end to the 200Ad The Ultimate Collection that Hachette are doing.
But either way I suspect this is the usual bait n hook type of thing where once your subscribed and want to complete all the issues in binder etc then there'll be nothing to stop Hachette from putting the price up later on.

The trial is running now from 10th Jan but only in a few places in the UK, I know people in Manchester have got copies from tescos. You can also subscribe now but probably won't get anything until the full production run if they go ahead later in the year. If you sub now you should get some extra free gifts or extra free copies when it starts, probably when the Stormbringer collection is nearly finished in a few months.

They do show up in Tesco's but not in huge amounts - people in the know seem to scoop them up! WH smiths get them in also.
Also, you can preorder individual issues from forbidden planet, at least you could with imperium magazine.

I subbed to the 9th edition and it was decent experience. Delivery date was standard and then it started to get random and pushed back. Rarely ever an email with a shipping confirmation. Customer support was great when I received incorrect issues. They are currently delayed 3 months back and they’re not sure when the batches are supposed to come so if I don’t hear anything in January I’ll have to cancel and ask for a refund. It’s not bad for someone starting out but it will take you almost 2 years to get the full run and now most of the contents, besides lore, are rather useless. This new 10th edition could be cool to try different army styles and whatnot.

Your local game store might be able to reserve individual copies for you, mine had multiple copies of each issue. You can also preorder them from Forbidden Planet but some of the higher value issues sell out almost immediately.
