I'm sure you're all wanting to know the latest on me getting hacked (more on that further down), but this video and next weeks were ready to rock before I got attacked, and Locket kindly let me hold off for a week whilst I got my life back together. They really are awesome people and deserve your attention. If you're interested in saving money on your insurance then their link is below!...

Soooooo, the latest is that my TH-cam account is back to full health and thanks to you absolutely amazing people it is stronger than ever. I am blown away by the amount of donations I have received (literally floored), and they have enabled me to tighten up my security considerably through various software licenses and a bunch of hardware. MASSIVE thank you to Jonathan Cusson for all his advice! He has given up so much of his time and I am endlessly grateful. Also a big thank you to anyone that shared me, I really didn't expect such an enormous response.
I have plans to make a video to talk more about what I've been doing this week to fortify my network and mitigate my own future stupidity. I also have plans to commemorate this with a plaque to remind me on a daily basis the kindness I was shown throughout this nightmare, you guys truly are the best. More to come!! xxx
Glad to see you back mate!
Welcome back!
Welcome back Paul!!!! Glad you are doing well!
Glad you are back
Glad you're back up and running!
Hey thank god my Saturday 10am slice of Paul is back. Last Saturday just didn't feel right!
Everything is right with the world again! Paul is here. Felt so wrong not getting my Hibbert fix last week. When I found out why it made me so angry on your behalf, so glad your back! Keep doing what you do.
More of this type of videos please. I'm sure it takes longer than the product review videos, but this is what I came for.
I agree!
Hey, it's like old times! Always loved these ideas and tutorials. These were the kinds of videos that originally hooked me onto this channel. And then the comedy and really cool gadgets took it over. Although they've now made Paul a must see weekly view every Saturday, seeing these tutorials brings it round full circle. Thanks Paul. I'll have to give this onea try.
Captured my thoughts exactly.
No, you can keep tempting me you evil man but I've been happily married for 25 years, I'm not going anywhere near this 😉
Great to see you back mate 👍🎉
Glad your back. Hope all is sorted
Haven't even watched the video yet but just wanted to say WELCOME BACK!!!! Happy to see you making videos again, you're, by far, the funniest guy doing this kinda stuff.
Welcome back Hibbert! Dont worry you will always have our support, main thing is you didnt give up! 😁
Finally!!! There are lots of tutorials on connecting Spotify to Home Assistant. This is the first one I've seen that actually shows how to build an automation after you've connected. Thank you!!!
BTW, that "HACS / Consider yourself hacked" joke around 4:28 didn't age too well 🤣. At least it's behind us and you're back up and running.
Forget the ladies, my shiz crawled up into my belly after watching this 🤣 I'll stick with just yelling at Alexa to play my music...great tutorial though, so glad you're back! Rock on Paul 🤘
First glad your site has recovered with not too much collateral damage. As for for comment in your demo with the "funny line key" it is called "pipe" command or the pipe key |. As you "pipe" the results of one command into another. 😊.
Welcome back Paul, nice to see you back where you belong. You can do this with the echo dot motion detection turned on 🤔🤨👍🏻. I haven’t got a life but Home Assistant is for people even more sad than I am. 😂🤣😂 After watching this Paul I was wondering, does the good lady know your log in details for TH-cam? I think we know what happened last week. Home assistant needs to change the name to home “wrecker” assistant. 🤣😂🤣😂
I don't use home assistant but I am commenting just to help those TH-cam algorithms! Glad to see you 100% back up and running!
I actually feel this has been one of your best videos I've seen in a while. Fantastic work! So easy to follow along and clearly explained. Thanks for a great video
Welcome back Mr H. My Saturday morning can now return to normal once more!
Paul, great to have you back, I had one of my accounts hijacked last wee too. No where near the scale or impact you suffered, but it was still a massive stress and worry and I can only imagine having your livelyhood put at that risk. Weldone and keep up the good work chap.
I'm a Locket customer. They do truly save you money and seem to have a general interest in the smart home space. I heard about Locket from here in a previous video so you indeed earned your sponsorship money, Paul.
Great to see that you are back. Saturdays are not complete without your videos.
This is perfect! Literally just finished renovations at our house! I have to set everything back up from scratch!
Greetings, Earthling! Found your channel because of your hacking woes. Subscribed immediately, and am a happier person because your content is great! Thanks for everything and welcome back!!!
Thanks so much man, that means a lot! ❤️
All of this or…. turn up the speaker you have in one room so you can hear it in another 😊. I also seem to recall there was a technology in the 1960’s called a “portable radio” which had similar abilities to project sound into various locations as you moved around. Love you Paul and glad you’re recovering from the bad place.
Good to see you are back Paul!
This is a great tutorial, please make more of these.
Fantastic to see you are back with the Saturday uploads after getting hacked
Good to have you back Paul!!
Hey Man, just sending best regards after your recent hacking incident. Good to see you back on form mate.
What a legend, love this detailed video. Welcome back I missed your Saturday videos!
Welcome back Paul! I've been looking out for your next video :)
Cheers Paul.
Thank you so much. Amazing
Loved this! I'll be using this very soon! Thanks Paul!
Great to see a tutorial from you again Paul!
Great tutorial man. Glad you're getting things back together.
Welcome back. Glad to see the 10am notification!
Good to see you back Paul. You make my Saturday (sometimes Sunday). We all learn from our mistakes, but you will now be stronger with security. Used HA for nearly a couple years and it's interface and development is always improving every week. Wouldn't be without it now. Looking forward to more videos and fun from you.😉
This is a great tutorial. I can't wait to try and implement it.
Great vid! Keep these Home Assistant how-to's coming.
Good to have you back!
awesome simple walk through, Keep it up Paul!!
Happy to see you back online.
Love your videos
Thank you Paul.
I am glad you're back!!
Good Video. THX!
Quick note, when installing HACS, it's a capital letter O in the wget code, not a number 0 as you stated.
Exactly what got me shouting for a few minutes :)
Good to see you’re back and doing what you love!! Good work 💪🏻💪🏻 As I saw your thumbnail my initial reaction literally was “A TUTORIAL!!!🎉🎉” 😂😂
@4:11 in your video... "Consider yourself hacked"... Oh the Irony! Really happy to see you back in action Paul.
Welcome back Paul! I'm still yet to use your advice and get flix working with HA just not had the time to sit at the computer, thanks for all you do and your advice
Thank you for this video, please more Home Assistant videos!!
I've got a home assistant yellow coming in April hopefully, so I'll watch this now for amusement value and learning, then rewatch when it arrives. Welcome back Mr Hibbert
18:46 Thanks Paul good to see you back, excellent Home Assistant tutorial, I am much more confident in getting this up and running on my RPI 4…. Keep the videos coming we’ve missed you
You are becoming the nerd you were laughing at. But this is pretty interesting, your tutorial is very in-depth and helpful. You should rename your video "Room to room music with Home Assistant"
Yay a new video! Glad to see you back and you’re account is ok again
Keep going Paul... You make my Saturdays..... Yeap, I should get it more🤣🤣🤣
Great to see you back mate. ive watched a LOT of HA tutorials, and the is by a country mile the best one ive seen. Not so much for content, i dont have Spotify i use youtube. BUT extremally well presented, no assumptions on prior knowledge, carried out at an easy to follow pace. and no steps glazed over by assuming the the viewer knows where a button is found on the GUI. Now can you do a youtube one???? ;)
Good to see you back!
Hi Paul, Really glad you're back. I hope your feeling a lot happier now.
Great to see you back!!
Welcome back - glad you're all sorted 🙂 ... these things are sent to try us, and often, what is a bad thing at the time, can turn out to be a good lesson and stand you in better stead for the future.
You've changed though .. never did I think we'd have a Paul Hibbert video, that spends 5-10 minutes talking about updating Yaml files 🤣😂 . . . top content as always. Keep it up! .. Very interested to see the "fortify your network" video from you 😀👍
Keep up the good work! Do not let bad people stop you ❤️
Delighted to see you back in hot seat and successfully pushing back and winning! Great video
Fantastic videos... congrats
Can't tell you how pleased I am to have that little nugget about using your internal URL (not intuitive) when configuring Alexa Media Player. I was well beyong the 4th rabbit hole with that one. Thanks Paul.
Love your vids
Welcome back! :) Liked before even clicking play!
This is my second time playing with Home Assistant. Started off with Wink Hub then moved to Hubitat. Sluggish performance and occasional freezes caused me to give HA another shot. Simple stuff was easy - but then I started seeing a lot of people talking about HACS and I was not sure where to go. Your tutorial is fantastic - great walk through.
So good to see you back here
Love you Paul. This is not starting again bcos u and Ur brand are a legend
Good tutorial Paul.
Locket sounds interesting.
Have a good weekend mate.
I’m working on Sunday as they stuck for receptionists.
Welcome back! Missed your Saturday morning video.👍
Glad you're back. It was unfortunate you managed to recover some of your jokes :)
Glad you are back. The last part of the tutorial (the second condition) was a a bit on the speedy side versus the rest.
Very useful however my dashboard is a mess. I need to go back to your earlier HA video and walk through that again. Thank you PAUL!!!!!
glad your back
You have come such a long way. ♥
Great to see you back Paul 😊
Good to see you back on it buddy, fab video, might do the home assistant thing when I get my hands on a RPi CM, maybe in a year or 2. 🙂 Funny line thing is called "pipe"
Good to see you back up Paul 👍
Welcome back Paul, really glad that you were able to recover from the hacking. I think we all would like to know how this happened and more importantly how to prevent it.
Nice to see you back up and running :)
Good to see you back
These awesome people watch all the way to the end and let the YT ads play (most of the time). Some don't skip the sponsor part knowing that watch time is valuable... All have never forget to like, have subscribed, have shared at least one video and have commented for the YT algorithm at least once.
Very, very, very glad to see you back Paul. I'm actually in the process of re-growing my virginity (installing my firsts HA server) so this video comes quite handy. ;)
glad you have got channel back up and running and past vids all stored.....would be interested in seeing a detailed vid ion what happened and any lessons learned for mitigating risk for future....
Every TH-cam video review is undoubtedly a subjective category, for the most part anyway. However, Mr Paul Hibbert is objectively a welcome refreshment, as opposed to the boring, drudgery, monotonous and, ultimately, often uninteresting individuals who know a lot but, for god's sake, are unlistenable and I can't imagine having a pint of beer with them. Paul is the complete opposite, an intelligent, witty cynic, with whom I would gladly drink several pints of beer.
Paul's videos are different from the rest of the YT crowd and a real treat.
Glad things are mostly back to normal for you , good luck in the future mate.
As I was watching this at 5:00 am I'm pretty sure I heard my wife get out of bed, pack a suitcase and leave the house!
Paul welcome back.
Make sure your account is set up with two factor with a hardware key.
and look forward to your future videos.
PS: consider setting up a virtual machine for opening any future emails.I just saved you 7k that management agencies would bill for that exact advice. you can repay me with a maniacal laugh in your next video as all your subscribers want to see if you happy.
Welcome back friend! What happened was truly sh@$ty. One of the nice side effects, however is that you get to see the difference you make for so many, a 100% sappy but true sentiment. Thanks man!
Welcome back Paul. Does anyone know if this would work with Amazon music as well? Or other music platforms?
Welcome back Paul all the best to the future
Glad you are back, Paul🙂 Though your good guide, It didn't quite work for me with an automation playing Spotcast on a Google cast device. I skipped the Alexa stuff) The trace says ok, but no playlist playing.
😂So happy Your Back💛
Welcome back to the fold young man, never been happier to see you xxx
Right back atcha Gaz. Xxx
Welcome back. I love your British humor! For those of us who do not believe in Alexia, how about doing a video on using SONOS wifi speakers (replace Alexia) or other wifi speakers? Have you tried HACS - MUSIC ASSISTANT? Keep up the great work on HA. THANKS to the Master .... David
Glad you're gatting back. Gutted
Welcome back!! Hope you Spotiry account wasn't hacked as well, as your api token details were visible in this this video...
Welcome Back Paul, I am so glad you got things straightened out.
You are getting closer to crossing over to "The Home Assistant Dark Side" I see 🤣 You do realize the next step will be installing Home Assistant on a VM (I may or may not have done this and it may or may not be an absolutely brilliant thing to do lol Way better than my old Raspberry PI) Keep up the great work and remember Nerdy is the new Sexy !!!!
Wow, Like #6 - and glad I stumbled onto this video. I'm pretty sure it will get me started, but rather than Spotify - I need to learn how to cast my locally stored music. Multiple speakers isn't an issue. The house is small enough that slightly more volume means I can hear the music in every room. I might have to run CAT cable out to the garage/shop to over come some wifi issues, however. That'd be a different video! Thank you again for such fine, detailed work. So looking forward to your return.
HA just added support to Amazon devices with the latest update without HACS .. I’m running the HACS version but I did use the new update to add a fire stick
It's great to see you back paul ,you have been missed
