Alright, the thing about most spells is that their damage gets really good in the late game. I don't entirely get it, but something about sorc/inc scaling gets really powerful once your stats are really high. This is also why a lot of spellcasters are glass cannons. Unfortunately, this is also when a lot of bosses get moves designed to tell ranged builds to stop playing the game. Maliketh is pretty fast and can close the distance or use a beam attack. Godfrey is designed to charge into you and stomp whenever you try to cast out of his range, dodging if you're REALLY far away. And Radagon... Radagon has his parry. The move that single-handedly is designed specifically to bully spell casters. The problem isn't necessarily the spells themselves, it's that the game has things in place designed to make spells harder to use. If I remember right they were too easy to use in DS3, so this was probably Miyazaki trying to fix that but going a little bit too far.
I played a spellcaster (on a co-op mod that I believe broke :[ ) and while I definitely felt squishy it really helped having Lhutel the headless when I didn't have my friends to back me up. She draws aggro, but not enough that bossfights feel free and she lives forever because of her shield. Also, night comet. Enemies don't dodge night spells--I defeated the Godskin Apostle in the Caelid Tower basement and the Draconkin Soldier of Nokstella with well-timed spells and dodges and a little help from Lhutel and those felt like great, well-earned fights for me personally.

She’s definitely one of the top spirit ashes. Still has nothing on omen killer and black knife (and nothing will ever beat mimic tear) but she’s far from a bad choice.
I farmed cleanrot knights early in a run and I’m completely serious when I say I had 7 swords, two scythes, 3 chest pieces, 2 helms, 2 boots and no gauntlets. Was done with farming and lucky enough to have someone drop for me. Farming was easy tho because I had a couple fire incantations with high faith for early on.
The gloves were the first piece I got when farming for a spear. Got them within a couple kills. Ended up with a full armor set loooong before getting the spear. Felt like it took forever to drop.
ACKSHUALLY the correct term is 'historical best friends' For real though fantastic video. One of my fave runs in a while. I have FAITH that the next one will be just as fantastic 💕
The best secret starting class has to be the Carian Knight, start as a Prisoner and take the shortcut around Stormveil to get to Liurnia early, swing far west on the map to grab the sword and glintstone key, warp back to the first Grace by that merchant who sells the Astrologer set, go to the east towards the cleansed ruins and use the warp gate there to take you to the academy. From there you just need to run to the Carian Knight armor, and warp back outside of the academy to grab the Glintstone Blade Staff. From there the only two things you’re really missing is the shield you get from Moongrum, and the Carian Retaliation weapon art. To get a start on Runes to meet weapon requirements, go help out Blaidd with that Bloodhound Knight Evergaol (which will also be needed for the Carian Filigreed Crest), and go kill Greydoll early for that 50k. The sword is a somber weapon and the staff is a normal, so don’t worry about picking and choosing. For spells I’d run Magic Glintblade, Carian Slicer, Greatsword, Piercer, and Lauretta’s Bow.
im glad im not the only one who immediately assumed Finlay was Malenia's lover :P love this run and i love these class runs!! have you done an ancestor spirit yet? they have such weird weapons and armor haha
How am I just finding this channel now? This is *exactly* my sense of humor and my type of content. Also, on a completely unrelated and deranged note, I googled "Malenia pegs" and was disappointed by a lack of roommate-related content.
I coincidentally decided to go for the Cleanrot armour set but with a different helm, before I saw this video. Now I’m determined to level up the scythe.
You should do a Michelin Man build, Godskin Noble armour, Discuss of Light, Halo Scythe, and Triple Rings of Light, it will definitely rank above Zuko on your tierlist
I didn't know how stance pressure worked This really explains why my strength builds always end up getting LESS stance breaks than light weapons. Between waiting for openings and the likelihood that I put a ranged AoW on lighter weapons means I've been wasting my stance pressure on heavy weapons vs light.
Best advice: Stance functions the same as the statuses. Some moves build that status faster than others (jump attack, jump attackjump attackjumpattackjumpattackjumpattack!)
On my current character I farmed cleanrot knights for 1 or 2 hours, got a ****load of armor pieces and swords, but not one scife. You lucked out on this one, mate.
I have finally decided to try a Faith build despite the problems end game and have been loving the Halo Scythe, who'd have thought it. I got the Scythe first Cleanrot Knight but the rest was a grind, got the armour chest piece last of all. I keep meaning to try the spear...

Did you know? The Placidusax omega laser is actually just Darkeater Midir's laser from DS3 but yellow and theres two of them. Compare the two, and you'll see its pretty much the same thing. So, if you can dodge Midir's laser, you can probably dodge Placidusax with a bit of practice
i don't know how but by just narating the video you can be so funny at times i love it
The griddy knights go crazy.
This is actually one of my favorite things to do. I'm even doing this in my current run.
Also if you get enough str to 2 hand the large club, you can just infinite stun these guys, real easy way to beat em
ive been subcribed with the bell for a long time but when u say it i still check every time
Bless you
I unironically use this build on my main character, and I’m so glad I found this video so I know I’m not alone.
The Mimic to Anastasia transition 👌🏼👌🏼
your videos are something I look forward to every week
You should put the build stats required and final stats in the description. I really wanna do these runs and I'm clueless as to what I need
Dex/faith is in the thumbnail
@@tulokthebarbrarian2033 but what about other stats. Ik what the thumbnail says but like. It'd still be nice in case I do something different from him and I need a reference
@@sharkfighter3365
Go on the wiki and look up the stats required for the main weapon - chances are that's the only stat-block you need to know
Every other stat is a point of taste and preference. The endgame stats he finds comfortable with the weapon choice will likely be very different to yours.
I don't think he optimizes often either, since the point is that these challenge runs can be completed by casual players.
I wish the clean rot knights weapons we're just one weapons that work like the farron greatsword from DS3 I wish they would bring some of those back because could you imagine having the move set of clean rot night with the sword and the Halo scythe that would just be really cool
I love Vinnanoa Sanjo, Cook Hunter.
Subscribed!
Love this Simple and Clean(rot) build.
20:23 that was a damn clean transition.
Honestly thank you for making me double check. I usually don’t actually go to sub unless I like you, but ur right I hadn’t actually pressed the sub button yet. Your vids earned my sub months ago! And I just introduced a friend to you who couldn’t watch asmond anymore. My friend and I really appreciate how you make your videos so thank you for being nice.
Since i first used Finlay i have 'argued' with my friends about how STUPIDLY good finlay is compared to the rest of them. Like you said at the godskin fight, She seems to have much better AI IQ than the others. Very underrated ss
She’s definitely one of the top spirit ashes. Still has nothing on omen killer and black knife (and nothing will ever beat mimic tear) but she’s far from a bad choice.
Seeing your guitar leaning against the wall like that hurts my soul.
Always love whenever u upload thank u for the content bigmen
I am rather large
Woah he’s like a knight of tidying up decay, a clean rot knight if you will.
Clean looking bass in the background
Smouldering Church has Silver Pickle Recipe btw. Video was very fun to watch still.
It always makes me feel good when TH-camrs remind me to subscribe and I'm already subscribed. Makes me feel like I'm ahead of the game.
I almost choked on my food when the "HAS THAT EVER HAPPENED TO YOU!?" Clip showed up. Such good timing.
I love that you are using radiant dawn music
Dont kill Gostock, he sells you an ancient dragon smithing stone later on
ACKSHUALLY the correct term is 'historical best friends'
For real though fantastic video. One of my fave runs in a while. I have FAITH that the next one will be just as fantastic 💕
I can’t wait for the Black Knife Assassin starting class. That should be entertaining to watcg
That reminder at the beginning earned u a sub😭
24:00 I sometimes forget how unfathomably based tulok is
im glad im not the only one who immediately assumed Finlay was Malenia's lover :P love this run and i love these class runs!! have you done an ancestor spirit yet? they have such weird weapons and armor haha
Also the the argument for spells is maybe if you weren't using spells designed to be worse than weapons they might just be better than weapons
You deserve the quadruple boots for that "sanjo" bit, lolz~ Loved the vid!
ITs so cool seeing you again! ITs crazy Im just now being reccomended you from a video a year ago but good regardless :)
You should do a Michelin Man build, Godskin Noble armour, Discuss of Light, Halo Scythe, and Triple Rings of Light, it will definitely rank above Zuko on your tierlist
@Giveaway-TulokMango what?!?
I bet I’m one of the few that know this background music of fire emblem ✌🏻👍🏻
Thanks for inspiring me with this build. Gonna try this next
runescape cleanrot knight hits the griddy
I didn't know how stance pressure worked
This really explains why my strength builds always end up getting LESS stance breaks than light weapons.
Halo Scythe- halo music
Halo Scythe- let’s fucking gooooo
3:53
You know which one we wanted
"We lead with michellan tires against the michellan man"😂😂😂😂 great video and build
All for removing Rykard from the boss list, unless it is a seriously op build or the serpent hunter is part of the build
Absolutely stoked for the incoming sapphic jokes in this episode
On my current character I farmed cleanrot knights for 1 or 2 hours, got a ****load of armor pieces and swords, but not one scife.
You lucked out on this one, mate.
Halo Scythe has been my main weapon for faith build. I enjoy it alot.
I have finally decided to try a Faith build despite the problems end game and have been loving the Halo Scythe, who'd have thought it. I got the Scythe first Cleanrot Knight but the rest was a grind, got the armour chest piece last of all. I keep meaning to try the spear...
Says “master hacker” as you do air quotes in the live. That’s a detail I love.
This video actually inspired me to do my own Cleanrot Knight build, where I'm currently using the Spear while my girl Finlay uses her Scythe. All im all, very fun thus far :3
i appreciate the Portal 2 clip. you've earned a sub
"We can try with Anna, true to her name she's poly and good for her" is truly a DIVINE line. Am in pure awe. Subscribing just for that.
Whew never been this early! Keep up the awesome content!
Will do!
Wooo shoutout to Sanjo reference from One Piece. Love that show
