Please when you do the cyphers use the channels eleven (for cypher 1-3) and aftaehyung for cypher pt 4 so you can actually get accurate lyrics because other channels butcher the lyrics of the cyphers. This is to avoid confusion. Also stay away from channels like jaeguchi and lemoring because they butcher lyrics. The best channels for BTS lyrics are these: Dial 6137 (this is not color coded but the translations are top notch,These are color coded with decent lyric translations aftaehyung, zaty farhani and lynn eksonyeondan or ashleygold25 these last 2 are for older songs. Please keep that in ming if you have to copy this and past it somewhere to remember do that. This is to avoid you bad translations and you making our interprations based on terrible translations defeat the purpose of the whole thing. If you want even better translations and don't mind not doing the lyric videos check out the website doolset bangtan for their lyrics They have the best BTS translations and also provide context for the songs.

So basically korean ramyeon in general is high in sodium(most of the people drink the broth too), resulting in drinking a lot of water. The increased water in the blood leaks out of the blood vessels and causes the swelling overnight and since our faces in general have thinner skin, it swells even with a small amount of moisture accumulation. So in Korea there are videos and remedies on how to lessen the swelling in the morning (like after eating the ramen you drink milk or like in the video it says to eat a banana afterwards).
Also from a Korean point of view yes the translation from this video is more accurate, the other video you saw probably took the official video and put the translation lyrics on their own. Anyways this explanation video had a better translation :)
    Loving your reactions and interpretations!

    • @Mzlee766
      @Mzlee766 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

Thank you 😊 for the explanation. I love eating them but I've never had a swollen face so I've always wondered why Koreans in particular get swollen after eating Ramen. The thin skin is understandable. I'm an African and we have thick skin so maybe that why.
      Thanks again 💜💜

    • @flyushkifly
      @flyushkifly 3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

@@Mzlee766 Hello. I'm going to have to address something unpleasant. Your African skin is not thicker than my Anglo skin. We have some structural differences, but there is no conclusive proof that you have thicker skin. That is a myth perpetuated by slave owners to dehumanize blacks. My face doesn't get puffy from ramen, either. I don't know why, but maybe it is a characteristic some people have that isn't dependent on race . I believe that the original poster was referring to the fact that faces in general have thinner skin compared to the rest of our bodies, not that Koreans have thinner skin than other races - because that is not proven, either.

Most of the lyrics translations you see on TH-cam aren't official unless they are directly from BangtanTV or Hybe accounts. The rest are fanmade. Languages, being the complicated thing they are can be translated in many different ways, so most seasoned Armys will check 2 or 3 different sources to really get it and suss out the true meaning.

it ultimately shows respect for someone else’s culture to try to understand the meaning behind the music that you really enjoy. Learning more about these young men and the cultural underpinnings of their language shows a deeper respect for who they are, the place where they come from, and helps to avoid the trap of cultural appropriation or just taking without giving. respectfully offered

👑 What you said about appreciating the music on a surface level vs. a deeper dive is something RM has said on more than one occasion. I think, however, that the main reason BTS has a lot of older fans, like me, is because they go way beneath that surface. I think that's something you are already discovering and if you WANT to dive deeper, you will fall in love with BTS as much as we all have.

Guys, we love your reactions and your interpretation is usually on point. Don't get mad about us asking you to watch this video, there is nothing wrong with adding extra knowledge to what you already know. It's how their lyrics can get interpreted in so many ways. Nobody said anyone is wrong but cultural aspects are different. We want you to get the whole picture.

  • @zoeelovee2

I just wanted to add as I was one of the people you responded to but I wasn’t trying to pressure you into watching it. I did hear you guys when you said you watch them on your own time but I think the part of my comment that may have not been communicated properly was that when you don’t have these types of reactions you cut off communication with the community/ARMY about the lyricism of BTS or whatever the topic may be because all we can ever comment on is your first gut reaction.
For example you’re not going to talk about what you learned from this video in say a Dope reaction and if you do it would only make a more confusing experience as if I didn’t watch one video then I don’t know you ever watched this video.
I never meant for you to change what you want to do. I just wanted to add my own context and why I think these videos are important.
I hope I am communicating this well. I’m sorry if I’m not. I do genuinely enjoy your reactions. I just find these videos just as important for the discussion as your gut reaction is as it’s a learning and discovery process.

Thank you for reacting to this! From my perspective, you guys already showed a strong interest and respect for BTS and that's why I was hoping to at a minimum hear a little of your reaction to the deeper dive (but also I understood your preference to only react to music). Because of how you dig into the lyrics already, I honestly felt that you would totally get into the very things that you did say in this reaction that you didn't realize/understand. And for the record, I watch all the way through all of your videos unless I get interrupted and forget to go back (I'm not even sure that's ever happened with your videos, though...lol). 👑 (Also, your disappointment that you couldn't add this song on Spotify is every single ARMY's exact lament. It's so sad. It's also crazy that this song was a gift (a.k.a. free of charge) to ARMY since it's such a masterpiece.)

When they talked about the ramen, there’s actually a comparison in the video of how one looks before and after eating spicy ramen. And it’s true that after eating spicy ramen, your face gets puffy. There’s like some science behind it. It’s like when you cry and your eyes get puffy.

I'm sorry if you feel pressure by ARMY about explanation videos,we're very passionate, but there's a reason for this. I'm 51, my music background goes from Metallica, Queen, Frank Sinatra, Withney Houston, Nirvana, Michael Jackson, Pink Floyd, The Cure, Tupac Shakur and more all them legends, amazing artists, lets be honest nowadays music is not anymore like it used to be, personally if I wanted to listen very good music I had to keep listening to this legends because nowadays there are VERY FEW good singers, because let's be honest most part of them use autotune and live are a completely disaster, it's very frustrating for me, fortunately thanks to one of my daughters I 've got into BTS's world, finally singers that made me enjoy the music again, songs that we can be related to, enjoyable melodies, videos. Finally art, deep meaningful lyrics and videos, amazing choreographes. Not only pornvideos with naked Girls shaking their bodies for singers obsessed to sing only about sex, drugs, violence, I mean sex is good, but listening music talking only about that can be bored. It's my personal opinion. BTS is the best Influence for our new generation. Thanks for this reaction guys, we'll done. 💜💜

I'm young and totally agree. I stopped listening to music altogether because it sucks. Then BTS came and they are officially my favorite artist. I never had a favorite artist. Ever. I love 80s, 90s and early 2000s. Tbh even the music of the Harlem Renaissance was better. Music after the early 2000s became generic, boring, offensive, annoying, degrading, just terrible as a whole. NO MORE creativity and really talentless. BTS is just a wonderful change needed. 7 talented, handsome, dedicated, respectful, gifted, and devoted men that only wants music to be a change not destruction. JUST FINALLY.

Obviously they don’t mean harm but they come off too KPOP happy and that’s where it gets toxic. I feel like you guys should take the channel in any route y’all want to. Y’all aren’t disrespecting anyone and that’s really all that matters! You guys are decent human beings and don’t ever make a few toxic KPOP fans make u feel like u owe them any apology or explanation about YOUR channel. 6:56 That‘s exactly why so many ARMY wanted you to react to this one. I hope ARMY didn’t come across as to demanding 😅 As non koreans you can‘t understand the cultural references and things can be lost in translation. You can see it as some extra informations on top of your interpretation to learn more about the korean culture and language. It is not about being right or wrong. The DKDKDTV explanation is also just a theory, but with some good points from the perspective of a korean.
    - I highly recommend to watch the explanation videos by DKDKDTV for Ugh and Baepsae after reacting to this songs.
    - If you react to the song spring day, I also recommend to watch a theory video. It shows how the song is connected to a national tragedy in korea. I prefer the explanation video by italian army because of the real footage of the tragedy in her video.
In my opinion the rest is good enough without an explanation video.

It’s less about being wrong in your assumptions but about learning what’s correct explained by natives. Thats true appreciation.
Not wanting to dive into meanings is a privilege when you never had to justify the space for your music. You don’t know the endless discussion we had about the world wide phenomenon that actually carries weight in their music.

Whalien 52 is a beautiful song that holds a deep meaning and can be relatable to anyone who has felt loneliness in their life. This song is inspired from the 52 Hertz whale which is said to be the loneliest whale in the world.
Whalien hertz is the lonely whale that cry in the deppest ocean that nobody can hear..
Whalien hertz and BTS are similar
When BTS first formed, they were constantly put down, wondering if they would ever debut, enduring hardships, blood, sweat and tears, just to make their voices heard in the music industry. To be respected as artists despite being under a relatively small record label....
Then after a long journey finally the seven voices heard in whole World to love by many,to inspires many through their music..

I don't think anyone was saying that it isn't okay to have your own interpretations of the songs (although I know sometimes ARMY can latch onto things a little and...kind of take it as gospel, just because it gets passed around). It's more about being more informed in making your own interpretations. With some songs, there is irrevocable cultural context to things, that someone unaware of life in Korea or the Korean language just wouldn't know. There's inevitably nuance that we, as a western audience, will miss. Videos like this will just help to give a broader picture of things.

However, ARMY loves watching people realize all the cultural intricacies and metaphorical aspect of BTS’ lyrical genius so even if you were to watch it on your own time and let people know later that you did and thus, you understand just how good a track is, ARMY loves watching people’s reaction to this kind of things even more than just their reaction to the song itself, because it is their lyrics what a lot of us consider as the best part of most of their songs.
What I’m trying to say is that I understand why ARMY would be so pushy as to “force” you to react to this, because it is what I like watching people react to as well, but at the end of the day you can do whatever you want and decide is best for your own channel. I won’t deny I would be a little disappointed if you didn’t but it’s ultimately up to you 😊 ARMY should and will understand that.

Also the ramen thing, is a Korean thing (not sure if Japanese have it too?)...in Korea they always claim their faces are puffy/swollen the morning after eating ramen. I think from the salt making you retain water?? BTS say it sometimes in their live videos that they're so puffy from ramen, but they never actually look like it (at least that I can tell)...

It’s because of the salt in ramen that makes your face swollen. Americans don’t notice it because of much salt is in the food in everyday food. It’s water retention! :)
but also Korean beauty standards value having a small face so a swollen face is something they would notice more than say an American.

You can deep dive into this stuff.... please watch
    Intro persona by RM
    Interlude shadow by suga and
    Outro ego by jhope
( in order cus that's how it's placed in the album mots 7)
Also some background info to understand the songs.. (I know many people have already commented this under the black swan video. But here it is again..)
Persona is the masks you wear when you interact with the external world. (Boy with luv is supposed to be bts's persona)
Shadow is the negative or embarrassing aspects of yourself that you hide behind the persona and ego. Sometimes the shadows, if ignored for long time can end up projecting itself outside. (Black swan is basically about this)
EGO is your concious mind and identity. The ultimate goal is to make the ego recognise the shadow and integrate it as part of the self...(explored in the song ON)
    Have fun.

Cant find the crown..🤭 they all have their own specialty skills in this, RM is a MASTER writer. Master with big M, all members go to him while asking advise with their own lyrics. Suga has specialty with making beats and Jhope is more on the verbal/performance side, he has the most unique flows, tone ect. As performers, RM and Suga have huge amount experience, they are as solid as rappers can be and Jhope is the experimental one that stands out the more you hear him. This 3combo is a killer!🙏

👑 When I watch, I watch it all, hah! Some Bts videos are more complex with cultural referencies and in those cases I do like you guys to check the explained ones. You get meanings very well on your own also, its more like also getting to know the culture and where they come from. And Im not on patreon, but I would suggest you to watch their Burn the stage series there. It can be found in TH-cam premium, it is a behind the scenes for their concert tour. I would totally sign up to patreon for that! And hey, you are not just ignorant white people (hah, see, I watched until the end 😆)

I like your usual reaction videos, I don't know how you can get out of this conundrum of fans wanting you to react to explanation videos that you may have or have not watched as part of your research or personal enjoyment, I am supportive of you guys not reacting to it if you don't want to. TBH some fans of your channel like me are probably just quietly enjoying the content, so I'm sure it's fine to do it on your own terms.
Maybe you can just add on a 30s- 1min afternote at the end of the original reaction after watching the explanation on your own just as a nod to the things you have learnt through the explanation videos? (Ofc only if you want to). I think the fans who are requesting for it just want to see that you have appreciated the full extent of the work put out by BTS (which is debatable to me bc dancers can react to their dancing, producers can react to the production and film makers can just react to the video so why can music lovers just enjoy the music?). Plus they probably wouldn't ask for a reaction anymore if they know that you have watched the explanation video.

    • @Kass983
      @Kass983 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Just my opinion, but I think they inadvertently invited people to be excited about their reactions to explanation videos because they analyze the lyrics & hypothesize meanings, so it would follow (to many) that they'd be interested in seeing if they were accurate. As much as they say they don't do it to be right or wrong, they definitely are excited when they've gotten something correct - so people just want to share that experience with them.
I think your suggestion of an add on segment is excellent.

As my english is not so good, i think i didn't see explain one of the parts that i find most iconic of this song, when RM sings "stuttering":
    "neomu and eol taeng-iga and oobs-e mal-eul deo deo deo deum-eodo ...
    ... jo jo joh-aseo seo neomu joh-aseo seo "
Namjoon (RM) was heavily criticized by other rappers early in his career, they said he didn't know how to rhyme, had no talent and stuttered while rapping, so on his part, he stutters on purpose to make irony

👑 Here for the first time. Not sure what others were saying, but many people want you to react to things like this because lyrics & message are a vital part of BTS’s music. If you don’t understand, you can’t fully appreciate it. Their lyrics spark great debate and conversation. Not to mention the korean culture that comes along with it.
That’s why a lot of us became fans in the first place, so we love seeing others experience it as well.
Of course, you don’t have to delve deeper. Just giving an explanation

I really appreciate you guys delving into the lyrics, as well as appreciating the music. One thing I found on this journey is that the more you listen to BTS' music and really look at their lyrics and gain meaning from it, you will naturally be able to get better and better at interpreting the meaning. The explanation videos do help in certain regards, but as you said, one thing about loving and appreciating music is being able to gain your own meaning from it. This is how music is able to give comfort and joy to people.

I haven’t watched your reaction video yet, prob after this but I do understand why some army wanted you to watch this vid and react. I think the interest is for you both to fully comprehend the nuances of the song particularly the cool cultural references (you can be a resource later on for young armys as well as guys out there who do not understand what BTS music is all about) and watch you doing this as we like watching the journey of a few reaction channels. I think a lot of I-army (like myself ) relied on a few dkdktv vids to get the explanation to the cultural references (I was blown away with the explanation to DAECHWITA ). I agree you can watch on your own but we don’t get to see it though 😳 where’s the fun in that? … anyways as usual great vid from you, I posted the crown 👑 and I also made it to the end of your vid while typing this comment 😂😂 … so stop underestimating army not watching whole videos… 😆✌️💜💜

I have learnt not to comment until the end of a reaction! I am super impressed with how much you work out through the video. ARMY is so enthusiastic for reactors to know just how amazing the depth or playfulness of their lyrics, more like if you think this is amazing just look at how much more amazing it really is knowing ALL of the word play 🤪 I think your analyses have been really good. As Jimin said once “ You nice, keep going”. Has anyone mentioned the Bangtan Universe to you yet. There is yet another level to their work, a fictional storyline that runs through many of their MVs and across albums. After appreciating their multi-genre music that is an even deeper rabbit hole to go down. It is just amazing. Borahae 💜

    hello!
the color-coded lyric videos that you guys watched is NOT an official BTS video.
actually, the color-coded lyric videos by the channels Jaeguchi and Lemoring aren't even done by Koreans. :(
they upload these lyric videos a few minutes after the song drops to receive views and most of them have at least 10 mistakes in every video (ENTIRELY wrong translations, out of context, spelling or grammar errors).
Really really dont recommend those videos unless it's just to see who is singing which part.
lyrics are better at = genius lyrics (genius.com)

I like you reactions to BTS. You show great reflection and ability to interprete lyrics and the messages. I love when reactors have the ability to bring something new to the table or show great/quick understanding - like you've done so far. I don't not like how this one made me feel like you'd been pressured into the reaction. That was not at all my hopes and thought, when I argued why reacting to this would be a great idea (I thought you'd appreciate the video). I can't say I've read all of your comments, though A LOT of them, but I've read a lot of positive ones too, and I hope you just skip/ignore the negative ones. Just don't give them any attention if it isn't constructive. And others are just really passionate, so maybe take it with a grain of salt and interpret what they're trying to say - me included! I hope you understand what I intended by this comment (sorry, English is not my native language).
Bottom line is that you do what you want, and create the content you wish to. It's always your choice. It's important that you feel comfortable - that way we'll enjoy it too. Hope you're having a great day and I'm excited to see your future BTS content - whatever you choose.
PS. I really like "Interlude: Shadow" - it's from a BTS album, but a solo by Suga.
