Thanks for visiting my old village... According to oral history Ao ( three clans - Tongpok ( pongen), longpok (longkumer) and longjakrep ( jamir) originated from these six stones . But this is not confined to Ao alone but also to the surrounding tribes such as Sangtam, Chang and Phoms. It is said that earlier all these people were living together in one village but later on they went to different places ( which they are settled now) and for the Aos, the went to Ungma village side from this village after crossing Dikhu river through a Cane bridge so they were called by the tribe name Ao. But this source is widely accepted by the Aos alone... And actually the villagers have good knowledge of this histroical place. They know more than what we will find in google but I guess they didnt explain u in detail... thanks for visiting once again 👍

As a native resident and citizen of Chungliyimti village I'd like to clarify or supplement something of what I know about the place and its history. 1. The six stones represent the six clans of the sangtam naga tribes. However over the past decades due to thunderstorms and other meteorological conditions the stone has either broken down or depreciated its originality. 2. The stone representing the female and male reproductive system was believed to be where the ancestral Ao nagas emerged, hence the village name is Chungliyimti , a derivation of Ao dialect. The histical place name 'LONGTHROK' is also a word from the Ao dialect meaning 'SIX STONES' , Many Ao scholars and researchers come often to study and to do research. 3. The poothole-like structure on the stone surface is what believed to be a storage pit for water or grainaries and other household consumable items. It was actually under the house roof which is why there are smaller holes around the larger pit which were dug for the construction of the house post. 4. The footprint was the pathway where the ancestral residents walked by to their way to the pond to fetch water. It was when the rock was in a mud like condition, due to exposure to sun and other climatic conditions, over the course of time, it hardened and formed the footprints which can be seen today. Beside the above mentioned there are a lot of forgotten history about our village which sadly was unable to pass down due to lack of education and negligence. It's a shame on our part that we didn't take care much about our rich heritage however it's also due to lack of education and ignorance. many archaeologists and anthropologists have visited, studied the site in the early 2000s and late 2010s much of the remains and articles which bore more historical values and importance have taken away with them for the sake of study and research. The history of the longthrok was passed down orally so solid written records are not available. However part of the orally passed down history can be found in some books and articles across the internet published by researchers though it lacks its authenticity. Despite all the shortcomings, the place is under renovation, hopefully it will be helpful and beneficial for the coming generations and the young scholars and researchers to study and know more about the culture and history of ancestral Nagas. I'm still a student and I've cited the history as much as I know and heard of. FYI CHUNGLIYIMTI VILLAGE is under Tuensang district, chare,sub-division and a 2 hours driveway from Mokokchung town. The best time to visit will be between oct-feb. Moreover, there are more places one can visit and learn about the village's history and civilization. Thankyou.
