Just did this hike with a friend yesterday. Baughman trail up to the rocks and Sugarloaf back down to Meadow Run. Perfect day on the trail. Cold and a little wet. We felt like we had the entire park to ourselves. Great video and great inspiration to "find the time" for yourself!
Outdoor Adventures well yeah, like I mean back on the trial since it's been winter. I can't wait for summer so I can find time to go on my own adventure! LOL
SHUG LOVES HIS ULA 2.0 PACK THE WATER BOTTLES ARE VERY EASY TO GET OUT & PUT BACK IN. THE HIPBELT IS COMFORTABLE & THE LITTLE COMPARTMENTS ARE ROOMY TO.
I would like to see the superior trail hike. They have an ultra run on that trail every year and I have videos of that run. I plan to do that run just because that looks like a beautiful area. So hope you do that this year.
Love the occasional spring time weather in January... gets the hiking blood flowing! Just did a review on my channel... Kelty Ruckus 28... pretty nice day back and only weighes 1.7 lbs!
Wow no snow! I had plans for this weekend, but it decided to rain. This is the first time that I've ever seen rain in January. Maybe next weekend I'll finally get to test out some gear. They are predicting colder weather and snow.
I just got a Marmot Kompressor Plus. 22 liters and weighs 12 ounces. I hiked with it yesterday and it's a nice pack. My only complaint is no real ventilation like on an Osprey.
I live near Johnstown so when i saw you posted this i laughed, when we get nice days in PA we all get out, i tried a bit of yaking but still a lil too much ice. hike on my friend
Aloha little brother Love the sticker I will put one on my 4x4 and represent a special breed of men who refuse to be held down. Hoping to catch some September surf/camping trip with my two best friends wife/ our Son Ikaika our dog. But I hope you have many more beautiful adventures. Take care ALOHA Big Duke.
Thanks for the video Jason. Love that LHHT! Btw how are the la sportiva Wildcats holding up for you and did you replace the insoles with super feet ? And have you thought about a jmt hike for your next big adventure? I'm heading out there in September if the permits come through, I'll let YA know how it goes . Thanks again .
+Ricky Bobby wildcats are holding up. I'm using an insole called soles. Which feel a bit better on my foot than super feet. The stock insole is flat and I need arch support. Jmt would be great but I'm worried about not being able to find hammock spots. I'd need a new tent.
Great video! Was wondering about your conditioning routine and what length day hikes you like to do. That 30+ mile state park day hike sounds wild! My poor feet would never forgive me but I'm an amateur compared to you!
+TawnaTV I usually do a few 20 mile day hikes in a local state park. But I fast pack it. Meaning I go extra fast to not only get my feet calloused but also my cardio conditioning.
Nice vid. Jason. I've backpacked Oil Creek 5 times in the past 2 years. I'm about 90 minutes away in NE Ohio and I love the place! I've done various configurations lasting 2-3 days each. I've got about 20+ years on you, but to do it in 1 day would be brutal. Would you camp or just end at the car? Thanks, 88
+Nemesis Gaming usually just my filter , extra pair of socks, 2 x 1 liter smart water bottles , maybe a fleece jacket, sometimes a lightweight dutchware hammock, lunch, snacks, and a map, and my cook kit.
BTW -- where's your Chameleon Hammock review?? Would have loved to see you review this one. So far you get me every time, exos 48, BBXLC, video camera, among other things... You're one of the few in which I trust in reviewing products.. On another note, I'm hiking from mile 40 to 19 on the LHHT first weekend of April, really looking forward to it!
Outdoor Adventures Gotchya - yeah I remember you saying that on your John p Saylor Trail vid.. well, looking forward to your beetle suspension review. I wound up ordering a chameleon to try out. Interested in testing it out against the XLC. Sounds like you have some great trips lined up..
It's all good.. I know life can get busy.. took a couple days this week to hit up Roan Highlands and that's the first trip I've been on since early December
Not day hikes like this. Actually not usually on longer trips. My pedometer app from LG is pretty spot on. It came with the phone though, never seen it in the store.
+Sharon Marks sometimes I saw we referring to me and the viewers. I prefer hiking alone. I have a decent amount of friends that are into hiking so they usually like to come on trips.
Have you thought about trying Ultralight backpacks? Like ULA and there is a newer one that has some super UL day packs called www.appalachianultralight.com/.
I'm looking at the Zpacks arc blast. Not sure about this year or next year. My friend hikes with a ULA ohm 2.0 but it doesn't feel comfortable on me so I've stuck with the Exos. However the arc blast seems to have the same mesh backpanel that I like on the Exos.
Good to see a video from you again. Your posts are one of our favorites along with Adventure Archives, Syntax 77, Joe Robinet Bushcraft, and David Gray. Sorry you didn't make it down to the Cascades on this one. A very beautiful place! Meadow Run Trail which goes along them would be another excellent subject for a day-hike. If you've never been on that trail, here is a TH-cam link to a video I made when my wife, some friends and I hiked it this past summer: th-cam.com/video/XsqL0Doufqw/w-d-xo.html If you watch this, my wife asks to please ignore our jabbering during the hike. Enjoy your planned hikes this year. I've watched some TH-cam stuff on the SHT. You have your work cut out for you, but you'll have a wonderful time. Thanks again for your videos, Gary from White Oak, PA

As many times I've hiked and trail ran the lht, I never knew this trail was here. Thanks for posting this! Always enjoy your videos.
Thanks for the show.
Thanks for watching!
fun hike. lots of neat scenes, and the falls were beautiful. always fun hiking with you, love your enthusiasm
thanks :)
Thanks for sharing.
FROZEN!!! DUDE!!! You're back!
Haha, never left!
Outdoor Adventures well yeah, like I mean back on the trial since it's been winter. I can't wait for summer so I can find time to go on my own adventure! LOL
+Heath Barnett nice lol
You're going to love the Linville Gorge. One of my favorite places to backpack.
I've heard nothing but good things about it! How are the poisonous snakes down that way, I heard there are a ton.
So far I haven't come across any. But you definitely have to watch out for them.
SHUG LOVES HIS ULA 2.0 PACK THE WATER BOTTLES ARE VERY EASY TO GET OUT & PUT BACK IN. THE HIPBELT IS COMFORTABLE & THE LITTLE COMPARTMENTS ARE ROOMY TO.
+David Stillman I ended up going with a zpacks arc haul for my main. Water bottles even easier to get to and very comfy and light.
I would like to see the superior trail hike. They have an ultra run on that trail every year and I have videos of that run. I plan to do that run just because that looks like a beautiful area. So hope you do that this year.
Always good to get out during the "off season"! Gotta take advantage when you can. I was stuck at work or I would have been out too!
I think it should either snow or be 60F. I'd accept that.
THANK YOU FOR GETTING BACK TO ME! I'LL HAVE TO CHECK IT OUT! BE SAFE! HAVE FUN! GOD BLESS YOU ALL ALWAYS!
We've been having some really nice weather here too. Good training trek to get out on these days.
It was definitely fun
great vid Frozen...just in time for me to put the video on while I rearranged my hammock room (warbonnet RR and Dutch hammocks only no ENO LOL)
Love the occasional spring time weather in January... gets the hiking blood flowing! Just did a review on my channel... Kelty Ruckus 28... pretty nice day back and only weighes 1.7 lbs!
Loved it!
Been too long - Thanks for another vid!

Pretty crazy weather.

Stay well brother!

Have you thought about doing the Quehanna Trail? I haven't done it personally, but I hear it's one you'll never forget.
Already have it on the list =P
Maybe try the granite gear Virga 26 for day hikes. I have the virga2 and love it.
Thanks!

when’s your next trip video man? always looking forward to them
+carmine there will probably be 2 videos coming out this month.
Nice vid. Jason. I've backpacked Oil Creek 5 times in the past 2 years. I'm about 90 minutes away in NE Ohio and I love the place! I've done various configurations lasting 2-3 days each. I'd end at the car just a very long day hike.
Hey Frozen! Love the videos. What gear do you typically take with you on your day hikes? You don't really show much in your video in the way of gear
+Nemesis Gaming usually just my filter , extra pair of socks, 2 x 1 liter smart water bottles , maybe a fleece jacket, sometimes a lightweight dutchware hammock, lunch, snacks, and a map, and my cook kit.
Outdoor Adventures Great thanks for the quick response 🙂
What trail are you on? Starting point?
Was it really muddy? Thinking of going next week
Not overly muddy. I've had worse areas in the dryness of summer. I brought my trail runners with me and they were pretty clean when I got home.
BTW -- where's your Chameleon Hammock review?? Would have loved to see you review this one. So far you get me every time, exos 48, BBXLC, video camera, among other things... You're one of the few in which I trust in reviewing products..

+stowe18 never got one. Don't read like the 11' hammocks. I'm more interested in the suspension for 2.

Finally some Outdoor Adventure fix lol
Stalkers!!
Outdoor Adventures yeah man
. definitely on the notification list
Nice man enjoy! I wish it was a backpacking trip.
It's all good.. I know life can get busy.. took a couple days this week to hit up Roan Highlands and that's the first trip I've been on since early December
Hey man! Come up to NH! Plenty of snow up there. I'm planning an O/N in early March. Should be sweet.
Do you gps record your trips?
Not day hikes like this. Actually not usually on longer trips. My pedometer app from LG is pretty spot on. It came with the phone though, never seen it in the store.
I use a Northface Recon for my day pack, I can get to the water easily.
just found ur channel. great stuff. ever watch sintax77? anyway. thx for your channel. looking forward to more videos
Yup sintax is a favorite of mine.
Were you alone on this hike, because you kept saying "we"? Most of your hikes are with friends, I was curious if you like hiking alone.
+Sharon Marks sometimes I saw we referring to me and the viewers. I prefer hiking alone. I have a decent amount of friends that are into hiking so they usually like to come on trips.

Haha, I'll check it out.
