Saddle fitting is an education in itself. I imagine many feel uncomfortable with a certain style and fit and if its bothersome for the person, it may in turn not be good for the horse either. Its a balancing act 🤹 Fascinating Shae! 🎠
Nicely done Shae, the more horse owners or future horse owners learn all the better for the horse's.I am 63 now and we had horse's when I was growing up and now I cringe at what " we did not know and how much that impacted the quality of life our horse's had. 😢 They were not abused at all, but dad was old school and I don't need to explain that.
"Saddle fitting 101" - LOVED IT! Thanks, Shae, for sharing all your valuable equestrian knowledge with us. My first/only horse (my heart horse) had the white markings on him of prior owner(s)' poor saddle fittings when I purchased him. Felt bad for him so I always wanted to buy a saddle from a certified saddle fitter. Meanwhile I bought a good saddle and a great wool saddle pad (like the highly rated 5-Star saddle pads) that made it comfortable for both him and me. Unfortunately, due to extenuating circumstances outside my control, I had to sell him. (I was devastated.) My circumstances still won't allow for a horse. So I live vicariously through you. And this is why your YT channel means SO MUCH to all of us horse lovers. Hope your channel keeps growing! You are fabulous.
I truly admire your knowledge and your compelling ability as an instructor. You and the horses are great to watch. (Mushu is a riot, such a silly happy boy, and Jiminey was so good during his fitting) I've learned so much from your videos, and enjoy them immensely. You and the sweet horses are a pleasure to watch. Thanks for all you do.
I love watching you so much!! 😊 I love to see the horse auctions, and how your horses are doing! I feel like I've gained so much more important knowledge about horses, which I love also, and now saddles too! You're so inspiring and amazing to me, thank you for being so genuine, knowledgable, and kind, and sharing those blessings with us all! can't wait for more content! ❤
It's amazing how J.C. stands so still! Loved him blowing out and releasing any tension. He's so good for you. This video is so educational. Thank you❣️
I have a friend that is a saddle fitter. This video gives me an idea of what she does. I don't have horses of my own anymore but still interested in learning.
Great video Shae. Thank you so much for educating us on saddle fitting, which I knew little of, but now have more understanding about how crucial saddle fitting is. ❤️💕
So many positive comments as always. I started watching you when you were at 19,xxx k subscribers and I’m so excited for you to hit 100k and get your little you tube plaque they award you tubers that hit 100k subscribers. Such an awesome accomplishment that will be. You are so deserving of it. Out of all the you tubers I follow, you and Sandi Brock are my 2 favorites. You both put out real, honest content wether good or bad, happy or sad the both of you are not afraid to show the life of horse and sheep ownership. So keep it up, your doing an amazing job!
Shae you are almost at 100k!! So you hit 100k and Belle delivers, that would be perfect! Thank you for posting, I noticed you are posting a bit more and I LOVE it. 🐎
Love this video! I am lucky to have a saddle fitting expert only a couple miles from me. She also makes custom made saddles! I agree that the saddle MUST fit both horse and rider and I saw just what you meant in your position. Thanks for sharing!
When I was ten I got my first horse and that year my grandma got me my very first English saddle that fit us. 20 years later I use it with my daughter and the same horse my grandma had great taste and help from my trainer but now I am looking at a new big horse and need a new saddle 😂 I’ve been an equestrian my whole life but I am always wanting to learn thank you so much for providing the opportunity!
Omgosh ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐!!!!. That's a lot of information for me to process. Thank you sharing your knowledge. I'm going to watch several more times. Thank you for speaking in terms that are easy understand and apply.
Very insightful info. And you could definitely see the your leg was placed more forward than normal , causing a change in your overall body position, thankyou for all the great educational tips to help even the most experienced horseman learn more😊
I wanted so badly for the new saddle to fit perfectly. Learned a lot in this video and appreciate you breaking down the terminology into layman terms. It’s good to learn new things, helps me to stay mentally alert. Jiminey looked sooo handsome too. Luv that guy. ❤
After 50 years of riding experience, I can say that saddle fitting is an ongoing process for both horse and rider. Horses change, riders change, and tack gets old and worn. Saddle pads sometimes help, sometimes make things worse. Because I’m relatively short-legged, like you are, I’ve had difficulties with the length of a saddle’s side panels, the position of the knee blocks, and in particular for me, the width of the twist. I need a very narrow twist, even on a horse that takes a wide gullet. I totally agree that the particular model and size of saddle that you are demonstrating in this video puts you in a chair seat, which is very undesirable. You were so very wise to obtain professional licensing on this topic. Given the number of horses you have, it will give you a lot of peace of mind to be able to fit saddles on your own horses.
Thank you for such an informative video and the amount of learning and craft goes into Saddle Fitting. If something feels wrong then its always best to get it checked. One day of missed riding will never hurt but a poor saddle with constant riding will. Get the professionals in 😊
❣💯 I "learned something from the video," that is, how much I don't know about saddle fitting and confirmation of what an awesome videographer-producer you are. The ergonomics of a good fit are so conducive to preventing spine soreness; as you say, most place their saddles up to close over the withers, but you also don't want to be so far back over the lumbar region. Yay Shae! Your heart horse was watching you closely from his left eye as you started your presentation. What a great vigilant model Jiminy is! He trusts you implicitly and wants to make sure you're doing it right, lol! You have so many talents, I don't know where to start, including your affinity for the performing arts. You're ramping up, girl, at 92K, told you 😀

This was very interesting! And I agree with you, the saddle was kind of making you fall further back, like in a rocking chair. Looked kind of comfortable, but also unhealthy in the long run.
So happy you tell us all about saddle fitting and how important it really is! I have seen so many keep and use saddles and other tack just on appearance.

Hi Shae, it's 2:30 am on the 10th of April in AZ. where I live. I'm getting ready to go to bed but wanted to be the first to say.....HAPPY BIRTHDAY KYLE 🎂🎁🎉!! Wishing you the happiest birthday ever 😁. I'm sorry I couldn't send you more than a birthday wish, but I live on disability and just don't have any extra. But I wanted you to know that I was thinking about you on your "special day" and that I didn't forget 😉. I hope your day is filled with all the fun and wonderful things you love to do 😃. I watch everything you and your beautiful wife Shae do on the farm, and love going riding and camping, and all your exciting vacation's. I'm living vicariously through you young folks 😉. Again just wanted to wish you the BEST BIRTHDAY EVER!!! Blessings to you both always 🙌❤️ Jennifer
Hope everything goes well.
