What he says about simplified characters boosting drama because of the abstraction rather than in spite of it is something I’ve actually learned about in a class I took in college on comics.
He keeps calling it childlike art style. Never crossed my mind once while playing thru it. It looks like final fantasy 7 to me. And the healing in the puddle at the end, and the sort of "flashbacks on a dark screen" thing that happens at the end when Crow is giving his exposition also reminded me of FF7. I personally love the art style and would love to see more games use it. Also, the haunted house section reminded me of the hotel in the golden saucer in FF7. Dunno how intentional any of that was, but it gave me some warm nostalgia feelings either way.
Great interview! It was really interesting to hear Adam's insight on Crow Country's plot and behind the scenes stuff. I love this game and its story, I can't wait for Adam's next projects. And all the little details and foreshadowing that I've completely missed during my playthrough blew my mind. This interview actually made me want to replay the game.
Thanks for doing this interview. it was really cool. As a visually impaired gamer I kinda wish they'd kept the original survival horro mode as an easy mode so there's still combat just not as hard as norml, but I do look forward to playing this anyway. Also a lock on woul dbe helpful. I do appreciate the passion that went into this and it's such a unique game. I've seen a friend of mine let's play this. It's also interesting getting a look intot he mind of a game dev.
It has all the atmosphere and aesthetics of a standard tank control RE or Silent Hill yet it has completely modern aiming in the style of RE4. I really hope this game gets an expansion or sequel with just more content, story, and different game modes. I would definitely pay for it. We need to know what tragic event takes place in the far future.
I love the Bladerunner 2049 aesthetics with Vian. Incredible interview and exactly why I love indie video game scene and independent video game reviewers/commentators
This was incredible. I'm hoping you can do a similar interview with the hollowbody dev. With them being buddies, I'd love to see another interview. Great interview mayo.
Great Interview. Great game. Easily my GotY so far and I can’t see anything surpassing it on the horizon. The only game I’ve enjoyed this much this year was Fallen Aces but that’s still in early early access. Hadn’t even heard of Crow Country until Boulder Punch’s review. Fantastic surprise for me.
I agree about Amnesia: The Bunker. I didn't care for any prior Amnesia games, but The Bunker became one of my favorites. One thing I would love to see added to that game in an update is the ability to set trip wire traps. Like include a new string item to be found, then combine the string with a grenade or flare to set a trap. I think that would be awesome.
Thanks for the interview! It was great! Sorry if I missed it, but I don’t think you guys discussed marketing or anything related to it. Do you have any more information on that?
Really enjoyed this one!

Stoked to see this, I finally got around to playing Crow Country a couple weeks ago and I absolutely loved it

Mayo should play Rule of Rose, very awful combat, but to me that's the closest I've seen to Silent HIll. Completely different asthetic thankfully.
This was really interesting to listen too. His outlook at the scope and details of the project was very interesting.
