I love this Pastor! He tells us the scriptures and allows us to see what prophecies are built on. He studies the scripture and doesn't add a lot from his own take on it. Its very easy to understand .

Thank you pastor, before I became SDA I attended Daniel and Revelation seminar at Adams SDA church under Davao Mission Davao, 1983 it was hard for me to understand prophecy, the lectures every night. Now much clear.
@@ronaldmaina3818 While that verse seems to make it appear Jesus broke the sabbath, when read in context of John 5 and the book of John, Jesus kept the sabbath according to the law of God, but only "broke the sabbath" as it related to the Jewish leader's vain customs they attached to God's holy sabbath. For Jesus said it is lawful to do well on the sabbath day (Matthew 12). Thus, He made a man whole on the sabbath and rebuked the Jews for their hardness of hearts who were often willing to lift a sheep out of a pit, but they would not lift a finger, so to speak, to help a human being in need who was made in the image of God.
I think Pastor Mark Finley is beginning to grow on me again. Something about his preaching and his short ,and concise plea before Ted Wilson on the importance of " Message and Mission, " made me see him like a present-day Daniel. “So when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.” Matthew 24:15-16 Who is Jesus talking about then? “And the beast was given a mouth uttering haughty and blasphemous words, and it was allowed to exercise authority for forty-two months.” Revelation 13:5 There’s 1 week left to complete the 70 weeks
1st question: Jesus was talking about the Jews that continued to perform offerings and sacrifices (the abomination of desolation) and he was warning people to get out of Jerusalem 2nd question: related to the antichrist ruling
He was referencing the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. but Matthew 24 is dual prophecy and speaks not only of the destruction of the temple, but also repeat of history at the end of time. The 42 months, if using day for a year, is the amount of time from the installation of the papacy to the exile of the pope in 1798. It’s talking about a time of persecution of the true church by a corrupt church /state power that was papal Rome. In this historicist View of prophecy , the 42 month prophesy does not connect to the 70 week prophecy. Rather is referring to the 1260 years of papal supremacy and the persecution of the biblical church. In this historicist view of prophecy , there is no gap for the final week. The weeks are consecutive and so the prophecy ends in 42 AD. The significance of 42 a.d. is the stoning of Stephen. This is where Steven makes it clear that the Jewish nation has violated their covenant. The new covenant is with the church (which at the time was composed of mostly jews, but did not contain many Jewish leaders ). And since the Jewish leaders maintained the infrastructure and temple, desolation‘s were determined to destroy the temple. But God does not allow for the destruction of the temple in 42a.d.. Rather extends a few decades of grace to 70 A.D. in which time tens of thousands of jews convert to “the way”. I hope that helps clarify some of the differences in interpretation. FYI, there are three most prominent interpretations of Daniel and revelation. They are futurism, historicism, and preterism. Mark Finley presents the historic of you. It sounds like you have studied up on the futurist view. I hope that helps clarify.
Luke 21:20 is Luke’s version of Matthew 24:15. It states ‘And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed by armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. The abomination of desolation however is the final rejection of Christ by the Jews, which resulted in their being rejected by God/ their desolation. It is extremely important to note…The Bible does not label things done by pagans as an abomination unto God, only those offenses committed by God’s people.

No where does the Bible say Jesus is our Sabbath. The seventh day Sabbath of the Lord thy God. Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath. The Bible says in Matthew 15:9 and Mark 7:7 Howbeit, in vain do they worship Me, teaching for doctrines the Commandment’s of men. SUNday is the counterfeit day of worship instituted by the Roman Catholic Church Papacy, not Jesus, they openly admit it

Very nice and clear presentation by Pastor Finley, I studied prophecies with SDA friends and to me some interpretations are different I think these views can be meditated as well. My understanding based on extensive study are: - 69th Week Ends at Jesus' triumphal entry to Jerusalem and not his Baptism (Chuck Missler calculated the years to date precisely) Several Bible texts are very conclusive. - Confirming the Covenant in Dan. 9.27 is the Anti Christ not Jesus Christ. Since v26 talks about "Price that shall come" and continues the narrative into v27 which must mean it points to the Antichrist. - 70th Week or the final 7 years are postponed to the End times and does not continue till Steven's death. Daniel 12:11 says from the time of the 'sacrifice abolished' there will also be a 'Abomination of Desolation' that will be setup. This did not happen in Jesus Christ' days. Concluding: I think we have to take a deeper dive into the prophecies and ask the Holy Spirit who inspired every writer to reveal us the deep truths of God. So that we will not be deceived. My views are to encourage everyone to do a study by themselves and not fully rely on others for interpretation, not to offend anyone.
I know Pastor, what you said is very accurate , but I have been taught that the 7 days were for the great tribulations and it seems contradictory about the prophecy of end times....!? Can you please answer it or what do you say about the prophecy of tribulations, the two witnesses 🤗. 🙏

Thank you, pastor Mark. But I’m still confused on the verse 26 about the destruction of Jerusalem. You have mentioned that it was destroyed on AD 7, so that means it was before Jesus’ death. And the verse says that it will only be after the Messiah will be cut off.
Verse 27 says that the same one who confirms a covenent .. is the same one who places the abom of desolation. Does it not ? We know from Daniel 11 : 31 that the one who places the abom of desolation is the Antichrist or "king of the north" of those armies.
The Bible does not say he places abomination, it say: “for the overspreading of abominations, he shall make it desolate”. May I ask which version of the Bible you are reading from? I highly recommend KJV. It has the least errors in translation. There are versions that are deliberately misinterpreted to mislead people. The powers of the darkness of this world against which we wrestle have their hand in almost everything.
Daniel 11:31 [31]And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.

Yea given the whole contexts of Daniel 8 , 9 , and 11 .. i would have to conclude that it is the people of the AC , his army, that places 'him' as the abom of des. .. and so given the way Dan 9 27 is worded . . it looks like the same one who places the adom of des. also confirms a covenent with many. 🤷🏽♂️
Is Dan 9:24, to seal up the vision and anoint the Most Holy, did this take place in 34 AD, when the 70 week prophecy ended, and His heavenly ministry started?

But Pr. Finley how would you argument if the atheists are not interested in any Bible verse? What method would you use to argument in favour of the SDA faith?
Very good question. If someone doesn't believe in the Bible but are interested to investigate, then it would certainly make sense to talk to them. First, we can present the challenge of the Bible (Isaiah 46:9,10). No one can predict the future. So, if the God of the Bible can make such a claim, then it can be tested. We simply take this prophecy and compare with history and see if this was fulfilled. These verses are exactly fulfilled to the T. Hence, the God of the Bible can be trusted.

You forgot to explain the the last part of Daniel 9:27?? And for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Christ was the final sacrafice. All other sacrafices became an abomination to God. Matthew 23:38 Jesus said Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. Remember it says he made the abominations desolate. It didn't say he was an abomination or set up an abomination.
He did explain the abomination n make desolate the destruction of Jerusalem because of their rejection of Christ. Matthew 24:15, Matthew 23 : 27-Matthew 24:2, Daniel 9:27. Mark 13:14-18

Because all of the earthly priests were pointing forward to Jesus, when Jesus began His high priestly ministry in heaven. Second, we don't need an earthly priest because we don't have an earthly sanctuary for the priest to minister. "1. A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man. 3. I have a question, Daniel 9:26 : after 62 weeks, the Messiah be cut off! Where does that fit in? 70-69=1 week, but if Messiah cut off at 62, that would make 70-62= 8 which does not correspond with 1 week in verse 27.. I want to know the explanation for Dan9:26 specifically please
7 weeks and 62 weeks is actually 69 weeks. So, the 62nd week is also the 69th week. There is still a week remaining. After the 62nd or 69th week, (that is the 70th week), the Messiah will be cut off or die but not for himself. His death will happen after the 62nd or 69th week, and that is the 70th week. When will it happen that last week is not directly pointed out, however, it was also said there, that the messiah will confirm a covenant with many within that week, and in the middle of that week, he will finish or fulfill all sacrifices and offerings. He did that by offering and sacrificing his own body once and for all time.
In this view of Daniel (which is the historicist view), the 70 week prophesy ends in 34 a.d.. there is no gap placing the last week to the end of time. The futurist view places the final week of 70wp into an unspecified time in the future. In other words, the final week is not the tribulation at the end of time in the historicist interpretation. In historicism, the tribulation has no set time to start or end.
No one's comments are blocked. I'm raising a family and arguing back and forth with people on the internet is not how I choose to spend my time . I am for clarity over agreement. I think everyone should study the different interpretations and see which one makes the most sense from a biblical perspective. Historicists view makes the most sense to me for a number of reasons. I cannot make sense of the futurist view of God using literal days and prophetic days within the same time prophesy. Then, to make it more complicated, futurists cut off a consecutive time prophesy and placing it in the future with an unspecified gap, therefore making it not actually consecutive. Thanks for your question. Yes, the 457 B.C. is not in the Bible. The Bible only tells us about the event, which is the seventh year of King Artaxerxes. But when we compare it with history, we arrive at 457 B.C. For example, Luke records, "In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene," Luke 3:1. But the Bible doesn't tell us what that year is. We have to look at history to know what that year is. They based that on archaeological discoveries of old documents discovered within the ancient empire of Persia. After calculating based on the discovered evidence, historians came up with the year 458 BCE as the 7th year of Artaxerxes. But because the historians used the Persian calendar year which starts early (spring to spring), they only reached 458 BCE. However, the SDA church uses the Jewish calendar year which starts later, from fall to fall or from autumn to autumn, and that includes a part of the year 457 BCE.
Good question. Daniel separates the 70 weeks into 3 divisions: 7 weeks, 62 weeks, and 1 week. Notice when Daniel mentions about the 62 weeks, it follows the 7 weeks. May God and Christ continue to bless you and yours mightily. :) The Bible is so clear when it's read, with the faith of little child, just as it reads, comparing Scripture with Scripture, line upon line, here a little and there a little (Isaiah 28). For there are some who, sadly, still take Daniel 9 verse 27 and apply it to an alleged future antichrist, not seeing that, when read in context, the "he" who "shall confirm the covenant" for that "one week" refers to the Messiah the Prince. Then others assume that the Messiah was "cut off" on the 69th week, leaving a final week (of seven years) for an antichrist to reign during a great tribulation. Yet, verse 26 states Messiah would be cut off "after" the 69th week, not on it. Thus, verse 27 reveals when Messiah was cut off after that 69th week; and that was right in the middle of that 70th week.

I day is like a thousand years.... Elijah will come and restore all things in a whirl wind, as the messiah begins his ministry taking his time into his own hands, from his birth to the destruction, in 70ad.

It's the last week that has YET to be fulfilled. When the jews usher in the antichrist. Take the olivet discourse from jesus himself told to his apostles . Mondo Gonzales breaks it down in 7 videos. The church will be raptured before the last week is fulfilled. This pastor cuts out the 7 years left for God to deal with the jews because they did not recognize his coming. It's called the great tribulation and the abomination of desolation is when the antichrist enters into the 3rd temple and declares himself to be god. I'm not speaking I'll of this pastor but he is not rightly dividing the whole phrocecy. The 7 weeks yet to come.
@kofifrimpong6781 I'm sure you will hear that this is about Jesus , however in true context and consistently the book of Daniel revealed the trouble time under Antiochus IV when he came in Jerusalem and set up statue of Zeus and sacrifice pigs off on the altars. This is considered the abomination that causes desolation. Daniel 7, 8 9, 11 and 12 all relate to Antiochus IV and him stopping the daily sacrifice. Unto the end of his time he was to cause desolations.
He conveniently left out the last part of that verse because it directly contradicts the interpretation that the final 7 is about Jesus. When the last 7 is referenced, the annointed one has already been put to death. And then in between that event and the final seven there is also the destruction of the temple by the Prince that is to come, which happens many years later in 70 AD. Then you see in that verse that not only does HE set up the abomination that makes desolate, but then that desolation is poured upon him. Does that sound like Christ? No. It is clearly the little horn power referenced earlier in Daniel (Antichrist), also referred to as the first horseman of the apocalypse.

The prophetic week represented 7 literal years - so there is no Day 1 thru the Sabbath. Christ died on Friday (Preparation Day for the Sabbath) and was buried before sundown. He rested in His tomb during the hours of the Sabbath. He resurrected very early (still dark) on Day 1. Ya have to understand Jewish time reckoning. Just like Creation their days began with sundown to the next sundown. Any portion of a day = a day. Chris died on Preparation day (considered Day 1), was in His tomb on the 7th day Sabbath, and rose in the early hours of Day 1 of the week. The Bible say 3 days and 3 nights. The third night was when Christ suffered nearly to death in the Garden of Gethsemane. If angels had not been sent to aid Him, He would have have died in the Garden in the evening (before sundown) of the 5th day (which we call Thursday). He was sweating great drops of blood thru His sweat glands. Therefore Christ suffered for 3 nights - Thur night, Friday night, and Sabbath night. He died during Preparation Day (Friday), Sabbath Day He rested in His tomb, and He arose during the early hours of the 1st day (Sunday). It was still dark when Mary entered His tomb.

Oh really?? You are exactly where Satan wants you. Christ points us to Daniel and said whoso readeth let him understand. I wish people understood the magnitude of this warfare in which we are embroiled. It’s truth against error. Satan is a master deceiver and he is not going down without a fight- against who? Daniel 9: 25 says …from the going forth of the commandment to restore…to Messiah ….shall be seven weeks, threescore and two weeks = 7+ 60+2 = 69. Then verse 27 picks up and explains the final week.

Just a quick note having just read Mark 1:14-15 in other words, taking the verse in context. Jesus did not say "The time is forfild" at his baptism but after John was put in prison. Small but important point
Definitely, Jesus never rested on their Sabbath. Never. His body laid in the tomb but his soul and spirit never rested in the tomb. He was preaching to those just souls who was in prison awaiting God's patience.

That is a good question. Originally God's plan was to reach the world through the Jews (Genesis 12:1-3). Through them God wanted to bless the whole world. That was why God gave the sanctuary and the sacrificial systems, the law and the prophets. They were given so that through these gifts, the Jews would reveal about God to the heathens and gentiles. But unfortunately that wasn't the case. Rather, they crucified Christ. Yet, God gave then another three and half years as Daniel 9:27 says. But at the end of the 70 weeks, they stoned Stephen to death. The very next chapter, you see the gospel going to Samaria and to other parts of the world. While Israel as a nation or organization ceased to be God's favored people, salvation for individuals is still available as Paul mentions in Romans 9-11. For Jesus said it is lawful to do well on the sabbath day (Matthew 12). Thus, He made a man whole on the sabbath and rebuked the Jews for their hardness of hearts who were often willing to lift a sheep out of a pit, but they would not lift a finger, so to speak, to help a human being in need who was made in the image of God.

Who is Jesus talking about then?
“And the beast was given a mouth uttering haughty and blasphemous words, and it was allowed to exercise authority for forty-two months.”

There’s 1 week left to complete the 70 weeks
1st question: Jesus was talking about the Jews that continued to perform offerings and sacrifices (the abomination of desolation) and he was warning people to get out of Jerusalem
2nd question: related to the antichrist ruling
He was referencing the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. but Matthew 24 is dual prophecy and speaks not only of the destruction of the temple, but also repeat of history at the end of time.
The 42 months, if using day for a year, is the amount of time from the installation of the papacy to the exile of the pope in 1798. It’s talking about a time of persecution of the true church by a corrupt church /state power that was papal Rome. In this historicist View of prophecy , the 42 month prophesy does not connect to the 70 week prophecy. Rather is referring to the 1260 years of papal supremacy and the persecution of the biblical church.
In this historicist view of prophecy , there is no gap for the final week. The weeks are consecutive and so the prophecy ends in 42 AD. The significance of 42 a.d. is the stoning of Stephen. This is where Steven makes it clear that the Jewish nation has violated their covenant. The new covenant is with the church (which at the time was composed of mostly jews, but did not contain many Jewish leaders ). And since the Jewish leaders maintained the infrastructure and temple, desolation‘s were determined to destroy the temple. But God does not allow for the destruction of the temple in 42a.d.. Rather extends a few decades of grace to 70 A.D. in which time tens of thousands of jews convert to “the way”.
I hope that helps clarify some of the differences in interpretation. FYI, there are three most prominent interpretations of Daniel and revelation. They are futurism, historicism, and preterism. Mark Finley presents the historic of you. It sounds like you have studied up on the futurist view. I hope that helps clarify.

Luke 21:20 is Luke’s version of Matthew 24:15. It states ‘And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed by armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. The abomination of desolation however is the final rejection of Christ by the Jews, which resulted in their being rejected by God/ their desolation. It is extremely important to note…The Bible does not label things done by pagans as an abomination unto God, only those offenses committed by God’s people.

Very nice and clear presentation by Pastor Finley, I studied prophecies with SDA friends and to me some interpretations are different I think these views can be meditated as well. My understanding based on extensive study are:
- 69th Week Ends at Jesus' triumphal entry to Jerusalem and not his Baptism (Chuck Missler calculated the years to date precisely) Several Bible texts are very conclusive.
- Confirming the Covenant in Dan. 9.27 is the Anti Christ not Jesus Christ. Since v26 talks about "Price that shall come" and continues the narrative into v27 which must mean it points to the Antichrist.
- 70th Week or the final 7 years are postponed to the End times and does not continue till Steven's death. Daniel 12:11 says from the time of the 'sacrifice abolished' there will also be a 'Abomination of Desolation' that will be setup. This did not happen in Jesus Christ' days.
Concluding: I think we have to take a deeper dive into the prophecies and ask the Holy Spirit who inspired every writer to reveal us the deep truths of God. So that we will not be deceived. My views are to encourage everyone to do a study by themselves and not fully rely on others for interpretation, not to offend anyone.

Thank you, pastor Mark. But I’m still confused on the verse 26 about the destruction of Jerusalem. You have mentioned that it was destroyed on AD 7, so that means it was before Jesus’ death. And the verse says that it will only be after the Messiah will be cut off.
Verse 27 says that the same one who confirms a covenent .. is the same one who places the abom of desolation.
Does it not ?
We know from Daniel 11 : 31 that the one who places the abom of desolation is the Antichrist or "king of the north" of those armies.

The Bible does not say he places abomination, it say: “for the overspreading of abominations, he shall make it desolate”. May I ask which version of the Bible you are reading from? I highly recommend KJV. It has the least errors in translation. There are versions that are deliberately misinterpreted to mislead people. The powers of the darkness of this world against which we wrestle have their hand in almost everything.

Very good question. If someone doesn't believe in the Bible but are interested to investigate, then it would certainly make sense to talk to them. First, we can present the challenge of the Bible (Isaiah 46:9,10). No one can predict the future. So, if the God of the Bible can make such a claim, then it can be tested. We simply take this prophecy and compare with history and see if this was fulfilled. These verses are exactly fulfilled to the T. Hence, the God of the Bible can be trusted.
Jesus Christ is our Sabbath, not Saturday or Sunday 🙏

What does that last part of Daniel mean ?
Christ was the final sacrafice. All other sacrafices became an abomination to God. Matthew 23:38 Jesus said Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. Remember it says he made the abominations desolate. It didn't say he was an abomination or set up an abomination.
He did explain the abomination n make desolate the destruction of Jerusalem because of their rejection of Christ. Matthew 24:15, Matthew 23 : 27-Matthew 24:2, Daniel 9:27. Mark 13:14-18

How did you come up with (no more earthly priests)?
Because all of the earthly priests were pointing forward to Jesus, when Jesus began His high priestly ministry in heaven. Second, we don't need an earthly priest because we don't have an earthly sanctuary for the priest to minister.

I have a question, Daniel 9:26 : after 62 weeks, the Messiah be cut off! Where does that fit in? 70-69=1 week, but if Messiah cut off at 62, that would make 70-62= 8 which does not correspond with 1 week in verse 27.. I want to know the explanation for Dan9:26 specifically please
7 weeks and 62 weeks is actually 69 weeks. So, the 62nd week is also the 69th week. There is still a week remaining. After the 62nd or 69th week, (that is the 70th week), the Messiah will be cut off or die but not for himself.
His death will happen after the 62nd or 69th week, and that is the 70th week.
When will it happen that last week is not directly pointed out, however, it was also said there, that the messiah will confirm a covenant with many within that week, and in the middle of that week, he will finish or fulfill all sacrifices and offerings.
He did that by offering and sacrificing his own body once and for all time.

In this view of Daniel (which is the historicist view), the 70 week prophesy ends in 34 a.d.. there is no gap placing the last week to the end of time. The futurist view places the final week of 70wp into an unspecified time in the future. In other words, the final week is not the tribulation at the end of time in the historicist interpretation. In historicism, the tribulation has no set time to start or end.

No one's comments are blocked. I'm raising a family and arguing back and forth with people on the internet is not how I choose to spend my time . I am for clarity over agreement. I think everyone should study the different interpretations and see which one makes the most sense from a biblical perspective. Historicists view makes the most sense to me for a number of reasons. I cannot make sense of the futurist view of God using literal days and prophetic days within the same time prophesy. Then, to make it more complicated, futurists cut off a consecutive time prophesy and placing it in the future with an unspecified gap, therefore making it not actually consecutive. It's illogical in my opinion. I will answer questions if I believe we are working towards clarity and understanding and not playing 'gotcha'. Blessings. @@JamieElison

Please explain how the seventh year of King Artaxerxes mentioned in Ezra chapter 7 is 457 BC? Because the year 457 is not in the Bible. I want to understand. Thank you.
Thanks for your question. Yes, the 457 B.C. is not in the Bible. The Bible only tells us about the event, which is the seventh year of King Artaxerxes. But when we compare it with history, we arrive at 457 B.C.
For example, Luke records, "In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene," Luke 3:1. But the Bible doesn't tell us what that year is. We have to look at history to know what that year is.

They based that on archaeological discoveries of old documents discovered within the ancient empire of Persia.
After calculating based on the discovered evidence, historians came up with the year 458 BCE as the 7th year of Artaxerxes. But because the historians used the Persian calendar year which starts early (spring to spring), they only reached 458 BCE. However, the SDA church uses the Jewish calendar year which starts later, from fall to fall or from autumn to autumn, and that includes a part of the year 457 BCE.

Good question. Daniel separates the 70 weeks into 3 divisions: 7 weeks, 62 weeks, and 1 week. Notice when Daniel mentions about the 62 weeks, it follows the 7 weeks. The Bible is so clear when it's read, with the faith of little child, just as it reads, comparing Scripture with Scripture, line upon line, here a little and there a little (Isaiah 28). For there are some who, sadly, still take Daniel 9 verse 27 and apply it to an alleged future antichrist, not seeing that, when read in context, the "he" who "shall confirm the covenant" for that "one week" refers to the Messiah the Prince. Then others assume that the Messiah was "cut off" on the 69th week, leaving a final week (of seven years) for an antichrist to reign during a great tribulation. Yet, verse 26 states Messiah would be cut off "after" the 69th week, not on it. Thus, verse 27 reveals when Messiah was cut off after that 69th week; and that was right in the middle of that 70th week.

The last part of verse 7, "And at the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him." Can you please explain this further, I don't quite understand. Thanks
It's the last week that has YET to be fulfilled. When the jews usher in the antichrist. Take the olivet discourse from jesus himself told to his apostles . Mondo Gonzales breaks it down in 7 videos. The church will be raptured before the last week is fulfilled. This pastor cuts out the 7 years left for God to deal with the jews because they did not recognize his coming. It's called the great tribulation and the abomination of desolation is when the antichrist enters into the 3rd temple and declares himself to be god. I'm not speaking I'll of this pastor but he is not rightly dividing the whole phrocecy. The 7 weeks yet to come.

@kofifrimpong6781 I'm sure you will hear that this is about Jesus , however in true context and consistently the book of Daniel revealed the trouble time under Antiochus IV when he came in Jerusalem and set up statue of Zeus and sacrifice pigs off on the altars. This is considered the abomination that causes desolation. Daniel 7, 8 9, 11 and 12 all relate to Antiochus IV and him stopping the daily sacrifice. Unto the end of his time he was to cause desolations.
He conveniently left out the last part of that verse because it directly contradicts the interpretation that the final 7 is about Jesus.
When the last 7 is referenced, the annointed one has already been put to death. And then in between that event and the final seven there is also the destruction of the temple by the Prince that is to come, which happens many years later in 70 AD. Then you see in that verse that not only does HE set up the abomination that makes desolate, but then that desolation is poured upon him. Does that sound like Christ? No. It is clearly the little horn power referenced earlier in Daniel (Antichrist), also referred to as the first horseman of the apocalypse.

The prophetic week represented 7 literal years - so there is no Day 1 thru the Sabbath. Christ died on Friday (Preparation Day for the Sabbath) and was buried before sundown. He rested in His tomb during the hours of the Sabbath. He resurrected very early (still dark) on Day 1. Ya have to understand Jewish time reckoning. Just like Creation their days began with sundown to the next sundown. Any portion of a day = a day. Chris died on Preparation day (considered Day 1), was in His tomb on the 7th day Sabbath, and rose in the early hours of Day 1 of the week. The Bible say 3 days and 3 nights. The third night was when Christ suffered nearly to death in the Garden of Gethsemane. If angels had not been sent to aid Him, He would have have died in the Garden in the evening (before sundown) of the 5th day (which we call Thursday). He was sweating great drops of blood thru His sweat glands. Therefore Christ suffered for 3 nights - Thur night, Friday night, and Sabbath night. He died during Preparation Day (Friday), Sabbath Day He rested in His tomb, and He arose during the early hours of the 1st day (Sunday). It was still dark when Mary entered His tomb.

Oh really?? You are exactly where Satan wants you. Christ points us to Daniel and said whoso readeth let him understand. I wish people understood the magnitude of this warfare in which we are embroiled. It’s truth against error. Satan is a master deceiver and he is not going down without a fight- against who? Just a quick note having just read Mark 1:14-15 in other words, taking the verse in context. Jesus did not say "The time is forfild" at his baptism but after John was put in prison. Small but important point

Definitely, Jesus never rested on their Sabbath. Never. His body laid in the tomb but his soul and spirit never rested in the tomb. He was preaching to those just souls who was in prison awaiting God's patience.
No. That's true. That week is a prophetic week in which the 7 days are 7 years. This began in AD 27. So, the middle of the week is AD 31 which is the year in which Jesus was crucified.

If the 70 weeks have been fulfilled, then what is the purpose of Israel's existence today?
That is a good question.
Originally God's plan was to reach the world through the Jews (Genesis 12:1-3). Through them God wanted to bless the whole world. That was why God gave the sanctuary and the sacrificial systems, the law and the prophets. They were given so that through these gifts, the Jews would reveal about God to the heathens and gentiles. But unfortunately that wasn't the case. Rather, they crucified Christ. Yet, God gave then another three and half years as Daniel 9:27 says. But at the end of the 70 weeks, they stoned Stephen to death. The very next chapter, you see the gospel going to Samaria and to other parts of the world. While Israel as a nation or organization ceased to be God's favored people, salvation for individuals is still available as Paul mentions in Romans 9-11.
