Not on is Efren the master of creativity but in my opinion he's the GOAT of pool. While some people consider the number of trophies to be the determinant factor for being the GOAT I believe that it's a combination of factors, namely yes, trophies but also mastery in more than one version of the game, mastery of creativity, mastery of stamina (such as in the games vs Strickland (The Color of Money, 1996), mastery of nerves (multiple televised games, like King of the Hill, to prove who's the greatest), and to me the main factor, influence on the game. He has influenced the game in ways that nobody can compare. Add to that his humility and classiness and he's definitely the GOAT.
Today's player rely on better pool table condition , technology, equipments and jump shot. Meanwhile goat Efren always solving the most unimaginable shot ever. Nobody can replicate to his creativity, uniqueness and unmatchable skill on pool table. Not in this era , maybe in the next millennium or so
When everyone in the audience , commentators and sports analyzers conclude the best shot is a safety and Efren prove them all wrong with unexpected or impossible shots time and time again, that is G.O.A.T. to me.
These fantastic, master-of-creativity shots are the reason why I don't believe it when Efren misses. I think he seriously likes hill-hill matches and gives his opponents all kinds of chances.
It's been over 50 years since I played a fair amount of pool when I was in college. Nonetheless, I'm mesmerized by The Magician! Hooked on watching him on TH-cam!
Efren's creativity is borne from hours and hours of playing on the tables since he was a kid. While others were studying in school, he was playing the game of his life. And he was blessed with great visualization skills.
whats crazy about Efren is he never got burned out and actually got better the last 1/4 of his career, I never saw him slump either.. rare, almost everyone slumps time to time, generally between jumping up to the next level its your mind preparing for that next level, registering
It is also worth noting that he became more proficient in executing double kisses, like the side-pocket 10-ball shot and several other moving cue ball contacts with the moving object ball which can be watched in several local matches.
Other pool players have a certain number and variety of shots for all their games. And when they come across a problematic shot, they take a safety. Not Efren, he takes chances and innovate when others have resorted to a safety... His confidence increases every time he succeeds, like in the Z shot.
In poker, I've played many of the greatest and known they were stronger than me, but never felt outclassed. I can't imagine facing Reyes in this. It would be a thoroughly humbling experience. He redefines the possible. Sickest shot maker I've ever seen.
Why do I have the feeling that he sometimes makes difficult shots on purpose just to entertain people, even those we interpret as unintentional placement of the cue ball.
I don't think it's just creativity, he seems to be able to make the cue ball move to his will. It's telekinesis I tell ya! In Star Wars they call it "The Force".
Efren prime was during the 1970's when he said in an interview that during the70's he's unbeatable. There is only ONE magician. That Brit guy Melling has no right to call himself "The Magician".
I don't know if these are "creative" shots. They're cool shots that take a lot of skill and experience. It's more apt to call these magic shots, hence Efren the Magician. Trick shots is where the real creativity is.
I was terrified while reading that article. What he went through makes me cry and makes me proud because, from poverty to fame, he remains humble. No self-conceit. He has given honor to our country many times. He loves the game of pool so much that he said he would play it as long as he could. Long live 'The Magician' Efren Bata Reyes, The Greatest Pool Player in the World of Pool.
Its not magic, it is dedication, practise, patience, motivation, self-respect, focus, creativity and endurance that makes an EFREN “BATA” REYES the greatest pool player of all time in the whole world of billiard games. At his age now, NOBODY can compare the skill, agility and ability of this person Mr. EFREN “BATA” REYES. We are proud of him being a filipino..!!! MABUHAY ka EFREN.!! We salute you..!!
if you play pool long enough these aren't creative shots, just shots, what else are you going to do? having said that he isn't a world champion for no reason, he's one of the best ever
Yup, exactly what I was thinking. "Creative" isn't the right word for this. It's not like above average players can't think of these shots; they're just very hard to do so they're not attempted (or people try and fail). I've done my fair share of Z banks, 3 rail kick shots, and drawing into balls and mostly failed. If these are "creative" shots then I'm a creative genius also! But since I miss most of them that makes me not a pool pro
You play pool for so long and can't even spot a creative shot. Basically you're saying it's "just a shot" like it's normal. You've been playing pool for so long and says this is not a trick shots where even someone who doesn't play pool can tell. Lol both of you are funny. FYI if jump shots are also trick shots then this are also as well.
The only shots I am not that impressed with are his along the rail shots from the other side of the table. Yes, they are hard shots to make, but I personally do well with those shots, not 100% of the time, mind you, but at least 50%. As for his banked shots, he is in his own league.

that 'L' shot never gets old.

FR.
There'll definitely be another "Z" shot like Efren pulled off against Earl Strickland. AMAZING
@@StephenHunts The Z shot is dime a dozen. The L shot - have not seen one yet except Efren's.
Jump shot is hella of a skill tho

My ex would call that strategy.
"Side" shot is my favourite one here. Makes the crowd laugh then happy.
It's been over 50 years since I played a fair amount of pool when I was in college. Nonetheless, I'm mesmerized by The Magician! Hooked on watching him on TH-cam!
you must be good
He's retired. Why you have not heard he's probably 80 years already
@@___Anakin.SkywalkerHe’s still playing tho

Whoever invented the jump shot was a killer to the game. We will never see another Efren.
The best of the best learn everything. But you are right we won’t see the same creativity
Who says jump shots won’t develop their own creativity? Just the idea of a jump shot is creative in and of itself.
in the phillipines jumping the cue ball is a foul that's why efren find a solution by kicking it
@@reydaketan5788it's not foul anymore. I see AJ Manas jump ball and it was a good shot
@@ogolthorp jump shot makes billiard ugly, make players lazy.

That follow through hook movement and one rail bank for position play on his next shot is pure pool entertainment. 😊❤👍☝️
Literally decades of entertainment from his magic.
This guy is so sick. It would be awesome to see him play.
This man is a great pool player in the world, it is so entertaining. I love it. God bless 🙏
I remember when I first saw him 25 years ago, when I started playing pool. He has always been my idol.
Thank you for showing other amazing shots by The Magician..
Thank you
Some say, "creativity". I say, "laser-like skills". Thanks for the video.
this guy do the famous "Z shot" and "L shot" come on! GOAT of Billiards. Period!
I salute you Efren Reyes, with pride!🫡❤👏👏👏
Today's pool players rely on efren's original shots.
Thank you for the compilation.
👍🙏
This man is such a treasure!
Skill and tactics
magician, No! Wizard, hell yeah!
That first shot has always been my favorite. I’ve played pool for years and have tried to do that……… Nope. Still can’t.
The L shot is indeed Legendary.
Don't forget the z shot
His X shot is even better
Wow, Efrin is awesome
Efren is unbeatable
Why do I have the feeling that he sometimes makes difficult shots on purpose just to entertain people, even those we interpret as unintentional placement of the cue ball.
Πραγματικός, απίθανος, εξαιρετικός
He is not one of the pool master, he IS the pool master.
That's no L shot, that's a W shot. 😊
So cool!
I've never seen anyone introduce so many shots that have never been attempted before.
Efren is the G.O.A.T.
Just amazing to watch his masterful play!! Efren plays chess while everyone else plays checkers
GENIUS
Such a living legend.
Genius
I think when he misses he is likely making sure his opponent gets a turn
5:27 that is sorcery!
Best compilation ever! Thanks. From which match was this one 5:21 and who was his opponent there?
good players today learned from reyes unvelivable shots
when he makes his amazing shots, he's just lucky. the thing is he does it so often
David Hume ... No Man ever threw away LIFE , while it was WORTH Keeping !
This guy is an anime character 😄 everything becomes the wall to bank off of
no other player has his talent..even in the pasts..
i love the "side" shot.
His title didn't come without mistakes
The
G.O.A.T.
He also the GOAT
I googled and hea the GOAT 🐐
9:19 wow
The man is very good !
Not one of the best, the BEST !!!
Efren the founder of "L" shot😁✌️
That L Shot is the shot I have never imagined it possible before watching Efren actually did it 😂
Gratitude
I don't think it's just creativity, he seems to be able to make the cue ball move to his will. It's telekinesis I tell ya! In Star Wars they call it "The Force".
That's not Creativity unless, Creativity = Master of Geometry and Physics

That 9 sink all you can say is god damn then rack.
If yu c him playing for the first time yu might think he gets lucky........😊
Willie Masconi and Minnesota Fats would be impressed , I'm sure !!!
Sometimes I can see the same shots that Efren comes up with. Difference is my execution of the shots is maybe 1% while his is more like 90%.
Reminds me of Muhammad Ali, Pele, Michael Jordan - the ridiculous things they did.
I don't know if these are "creative" shots. They're cool shots that take a lot of skill and experience. It's more apt to call these magic shots, hence Efren the Magician. Trick shots is where the real creativity is.
not to mention the Z shot he made vs strickland..
his shots seem to defy physics
If 'showmanship' is a person.
Where where where? Your wish is my command. If someone is so extremely lucky, It will take a long time to surpass the Magician.
that L shot is unbelievable.
try it for 100x, you're lucky if you can do it right at least once.
If you happen to read the article written by pat jordan of the atlantic month,y you will find the reason why efren is called the magician 9:51

L shot imo a bit harder than the Z shot. Should be number 1.
He plays billiards, while the others play nine ball
The angle of incidence using the laws of reflection is your friend here. Or witchcraft.
