@41:34 "we got multiple stops in a row..." Tennessee didn't get multiple stops in a row at this point, they got their first stop of the game on this drive when Will Howard threw the DPI/INT ball to Jeremiah Smith (OSU got away with a really bad DPI earlier in the game, which ended Tennessee's second drive, so this felt like a make-up call). Great film review. Go Bucks!
From a Buckeye fan, it is a fresh of breath air to have someone come out with some mea culpa about Will Howard. I will say, the sorts of plays they tend to run against lesser opponents (Marshall or W. Kentucky). They run the fun run plays against these teams. Like they need to try it out first. When they go against the equal quality of opponent, they tend to turtle up a bit. Though, the UM game is a different beast entirely. Somehow Day just wants to play 1970 football in that game and let UM stick around after they unloaded half their roster to the NFL. Man, I like Will Howard. He can make these throws. He may not take as many shots down field as other QB's, but he is one of the better deep ball throwers (completion %) in the nation. I really like his leadership. He is a baller, and is an ultimate competitor. Going back to maybe why they didn't bring out this stuff earlier on is all the injuries on the O-line. These are long developing pass concepts. When you lose your 1st round LT, your top C in the nation, it has taken a bit of time for them to be comfortable with doing this. It just makes sense they would try to do plays they may see work more often in practice or have ran more of. Yea, great analysis, I love watching people who talk ball. I will check out other videos, especially if you continue to cover some OSU games from time to time.
I was at the game and was shocked that Tennessee couldn’t handle Ohio State’s speed. They had more team speed and it was especially apparent at the skill positions.
Will Howard has had 5 or 6 games this year where he threw for an 80+ completion % & threw "dots" all game. Nice that people are finally noticing him in the post-season but he's been one of the most consistent, productive QBs in the college game all year, long before he surgically destroyed the vols, & he's thrown the ball more this year that JJ MCcarthy was ever asked to do for xichigan. And their loss to xichigan had very little to do with the players & way more to do with Ryan Day foolishly looking ahead to the B1G championship game vs Oregon, thinking he could bludgeon 5-5 xichigan to death without giving Oregon anything new to look at. He almost pulled it off too, except for 2 very makeable FGs that were missed. Tenn got the game-plan Day was holding in reserve for Oregon, that he thought he didn't need to use vs xichigan. This of course is coaching malfeasance of the highest order because you win the rivalry game in front of you by every means necessary, & Day's vanilla game-plan vs xichigan was a direct result of HIM looking ahead to Oregon the week after xichigan. I get his "strategy" but only if he wins the xichigan game lol. Since he lost, he was left trying to "explain" his plodding offense in The Game without admitting he was "holding back" for the Oregon game, which would have pissed off the OSU fanbase even more. Not only is Ohio State's offense amazing & loaded, they have the BEST D in the nation too. Good luck to their opponents. Ryan Day once again outsmarted himself in the xichigan game, but xichigan is nowhere to be found in this playoff field & Ryan knows for sure not to "hold back" anything now in the "do or die" postseason.. And despite what Day did, looking ahead to Oregon & taking 5-5 xichigan waaay too lightly, he's a QB/ Offense /organizational /NIL/ Portal / recruiting guru & I wanted him to stay as the OSU coach even before he beat Tenn because to get rid of him would risk losing a roster full of great young players, who love him. He just needs to stop outthinking himself vs xichigan. He's still young enough to learn from his mistakes.
They flashed a lot of this stuff early in the season, against Marshall, for example. But shelved it after those really early games. Didn't want to put too much on film, I suspect.
OSU fan here just wanna say the Michigan is nothing but Day in a mental headlock. He just wanted to prove he was tough but totally forgot to open the run you have to be successful in the pass.My coach has a Michigan problem unfortunately
Eleven Warriors film study host noted that OSU, who is know as a zone run team, DID NOT RUN ONE ZONE PLAY. Our genius coaches finally got their heads out of their butts. Just maybe they finally figured out that the over-reliance on zone put our O line at a disadvantage where our guys over the years have been consistently caught on their heels, surrendering leverage early and often by letting the defenders under their pads with the inevitable TFL and LOS ending up on our side of the ball. Urban Meyer noted the latter on BTN in a look at the Michigan game film. This has given the appearance of our big guys being soft over the years. On Saturday our guys were firing off the ball, staying under the pad level of the opponent, establish leverage against the defenders, resulting in control of the LOS. Note I did not say domination. That's coming if they keep it up, but the coaches have to stay out of their way. Has anyone pondered the question why our best O lineman is a 3 star transfer Alabama? Could it be that Day and Frye did not have enough time to screw him up like the rest of our big guys? Montgomery was outstanding Saturday and Hinzman has been excellent, especially at left guard, so why have they been on the sideline for most of the year? Could it be that our genius coaches have been recruiting and evaluating starters on the stupid, bad habit developing, zone blocking schemes that our big guys have not been able to consistently execute for years, so they really don't know what they have in non-zone run plays. The waste of all that skill position talent in Judkins and Henderson drives me crazy when I think about it.
Or maybe that the guy who gets no honors at Bama and the transfer LT who wasn't much before became AA's under Frye. And maybe it takes a bit for young guys called up to sub-in to find their footing.
I think the Michigan game was the best thing to happen for the Ohio State team because it forced them to play the type of football they should have been playing all year long. Tennessee had the bad luck of being the team that got unleashed against, on top of it being on the road, at night, in 15 degree weather. I for one, totally saw it coming and was cringing all week long when the Vol fanbase was going buck wild on social media. I made the trip up to Columbus and was pleasantly surprised by how much orange was in the stadium but that has nothing to do with how the game is played. Oregon will probably benefit from Tennessees “sacrifice” by knowing that Ohio won’t come out and play with the Michigan game plan. Im not excusing Tennessee by any means either. Them running out shirtless for warmups says one thing loud and clear.. that they weren’t locked into the task at hand of playing football and they were clearly focused on the outside noise. From the first snap of the game till Ohio State pulled their starters in the 4th qtr you could tell who the prepared team was. Im not saying that if Tennessee had a better game plan and coaches had done a better job they would have won. Im saying that they could’ve kept closer to the original prediction of +7.5 and made it a competitive game. Huepel needs to have some hard conversations in the Off Season because they consistently SUCK on the road in big games.
After that first touchdown throw I knew Tennessee was cooked lol. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Will make a single throw like that, much less like the one over dudes head (that I still have no idea how Egbuka caught that)

@@Kirbysbelt That's crazy considering Penn State played a much closer game with Ohio State than Tennessee did and Tennessee was like the 3rd ranked SEC team in the conference.

@@TheFilmGuyNetwork When discussing the Michigan game, my primary complaint was it was the worst coached game for OSU that I could remember in more than 50 years of fandom. SOR SOS WINS LOST WHO U PLAYED AT THE END OF SEASON NOT WIEN U PLAYED THEM
Will howard needs to play great if OSU wants to win otherwise team is gone. Will lost the game for OSU last time and with Michigan. If he can’t play on Jan 1, osu is doomed
He didn't lose the Oregon game. He did play his worst game against TCUN. That hit may have contributed to it.
People say that Ohio State offenses is unstoppable, but the Oregon Duck's stopped them one time and I believe they’re gonna do it again in the Rose Bowl
OSU scored 31. Oregon didn't stop squat.
@@armynurseboyOregon scored 32 Ohio state ain’t stop nothing either 🤡
Kicking one time and had 4 different people score tds 😂
@@armynurseboyOSU loses to Penn st. Hands down

Come on Tennessee is not good. Wrong again oregon beats them by 14
Yet I bet you were one of the many people who thought Ohio State was going to get destroyed by Tennessee before the game happened on Saturday because Tennessee is a "big bad SEC team".
3 questions:
1. Who wins between PSU and Tennessee?
2. How many points did Oregon hang on PSU?
3. Now tell me which offense looks unstoppable?
1. If UT plays the same way? PSU.
2. Oregon put up 45....but allowed 37....against a mediocre offense.
3. Both OSU and Oregon have really good offenses. It'll come down to which D steps up.
@@armynurseboy Bro PSU does not have a "mediocre" offense. We agree on the rest.
@alg678 PSU's offense is literally Tyler Warren. Take him out of the game plan, and PS's O goes nowhere.
@@alg678 The rest of the season outside of that Oregon game disagrees with you. Besides that's Oregon game the rest of the season Penn State had a very mediocre offense.
@armynurseboy I know that Ohio State looked better on passing D since Oregon. They also haven't played a top 50 passing offense. We will see what happens in the RB.
