- How to Store Small Engine Equipment Long Term to Avoid Common Problems that 2 cycle engines run into. By following this procedure over the years I have been able to prevent the following problems:
No Start Engine
Bogging Engine
Surging Engine
Rough Idle
Carburetor Cleaning
Carburetor Rebuilding
Clogged Fuel Filter & Fuel System
Bad old gas / fuel is the most common reason that 2 stroke engines / carburetors get gummed up and stop running.
If you practice these storage / winterizing steps you too will avoid most common problems that small engine equipment experience.

Good ideas. Thank you
Thanks for watching!
I have a predator 5000 generator that I’ll be using propane only but would like to have the gasoline option as well. How does your method compare to using automatic transmission fluid instead of marine oil? Does your method work just as well for all 2 and 4 cycle engines?
And four cycle engines I typically just drain the fuel out of the tank and carburetor and fog the cylinders
Do you have a video on how to get snow blower to start? Ran it last year to when it was empty. Put fresh treated gas and it didn't start. Thanks!
I do not have any snow blower repair videos specifically. Too far south.
… But most two cycle and four cycle small engines are basically the same. If you can’t find a snowblower video to meet your needs specifically you could watch videos on getting two or four cycle engines running again after storage… And probably figure out your problem.
In your case I would check for spark and if You have spark then I would check and make sure the carburetor is getting fuel and go from there…
Thanks for the info! :)
I'm late to this party but in 53 years I've never done anything special to store equipment. Remove the air filter and pour a small amount of fresh fuel into the carburetor. Most times I get a start on the first pull. Three times I've had ignition coils go bad during storage so, if you don't get a start, check for spark.
