[RE-UPLOADED DUE TO COPYRIGHT BLOCKS ON PREVIOUS UPLOAD] In my review, I mistakenly said that Michelle Yeoh didn't win the Best Actress Oscar. Not sure where I looked, but I looked wrong. So please disregard that, I'm so glad she won! ❤ Anyway, what a trip and experience! Let me know your thoughts on this movie below and find the full-length reaction here if you're interested: kaiielle.com/eeaao

Key Huy Quan said regular Waymond's mannerisms were patterned after a squirrel, while Alpha Waymond's mannerisms were patterned after a fox.

This movie is not only my favorite movie of 2022. Buts it’s one of my favorite films of all time. It’s been a long time since a film was just creative and fun with its premise and yet also be full emotional weight and relatable characters.

This movie led to me appreciating Steven Spielberg more than I had before. Firstly, he praised The Daniels for what they'd done saying that he learns more form young filmmakers than the old guard due to them being more audacious. Secondly, he was cheering Ke Huy Quan on so much. I also found out that he's sent Ke a Christmas present every year since he was in Temple of Doom.

What a great actor Key Huy Quan is, I am very happy that he returned to acting there because he does it really well, excited to see him in American Born Chinese, and he was cast for the second season of Loki, excited to see what character he will play in marvel.

If some one told you that there was a movie where 2 rocks were talking to each other in text and it would make you cry. You'd tell them it would be impossible.

The fact that you seemed to absorb and understand as much of the movie's message and what was actually happening put a huge smile on my face. And mentioning that you liked Memento just gave you HUGE bonus points. One of my faves. Well done and keep these going :)

I love this film. It plays out on so many levels; as a scifi multiverse adventure, or an exploration into inherited generational trauma, or a commentry on the oposing sides of nihilism. It is a comedy and a drama and an adventure, and the whole team deserve every award they get.
CEO Waymond's laundry and taxes line really brought a lump to my throat, and the rocks scene was so powerful in its silence. Interestingly, that scene was to be voiced, but it was Michelle Yeoh who suggested just having subtitles.

My Boyfriend is Asian, from an Ethnic and National Chinese family. Yeah, this is actually pretty accurate, sadly. Although, Joy's mother is way more accepting of Becky than my BF's mother would ever be of me.

a little movie reference is the latter part of the movie star universe. when waymond and evelyn are in the alleyway, it mimics the aesthetics of wong kar wai's 2000 film in the mood for love. a film that ranks highly among filmmakers.

When I first saw this movie it instantly became one of my all-time favorites. I then talked two different groups of friends into watching it with me to expose them to it as well. Great reaction!

I really urge you to buy the Bluray. It's so good. Loads of extras and commentaries. Also, you get to watch it over and over and go looking for bits you've missed and the little things you've missed.
I love Joy's costumes, you can tell they had fun designing those.

There is one point that I noticed that doesnt crop up in many comment sections:
There is one character that is only in one universe. Becky.

Also, when you compared Martial Arts Waymond to breakdancing, you'd be surprised how many of those skills transfer between fighting and dancing. Source: I did Karate for 3 years, and can follow dance steps flawlessly. It's all about body control in both art forms, so it makes sense those skills transfer

    • @woeshaling6421

i'd suggest the documentary iron fists and kung fu kicks. breakdancing is directly influenced by kung fu movies. concurrently free running/parkour is directly influenced by jackie chan/sammo hung stunt work

I used to date an Asian girl and I can 100% confirm that Asian parents are really like that. They have no filter and almost every compliment is back handed. For example, if they think you have lost weight they'll say something like "You don't look as fat as you did"... Or if you've changed your hair they might say "You should have changed your hair a long time ago as I always thought it looked awful"...
They are being kind but like I said, no filter. lol.

Fun Fact: It only takes 94 seconds for a school of piranhas to strip all the meat from a human body. Also, I've been fired from my position at the aquarium, and I need a good lawyer.

Coming in late, but Michelle Yeoh did win Best Actress. 😁 The miss, in my opinion, was Stephanie Hsu as Joy/Jobu. I loved Jamie Lee Curtis as well, but I think Stephanie Hsu was a bit better.

@@kaiielle Pretty much everything in nature has at least one thing that's "weird" compared to other species... until you find that bizarre parallel in some other creature.

I have a very short list of movies I think have to be in the conversation when talking about the best film I've ever seen. For over 20 years (since Mulholland Dr. in 2001), there were five movies on that list. Now, "Everything Everywhere All At Once" is the sixth... 🪐
