This is fascinating. As someone who has ADD and struggled with math my entire life, I was able to learn this and perfect it from this one video because I’m a visual learner. You’re a great teacher , wish I would have had a math teacher like you back when I was in school ❤️
Hi! This is interesting. However, I think that you could improve the algorithm by combining simple one-digit multiplications that most children learn by heart. Even in Sweden, we do this. In the last example, instead of carefully count every 63 intersections in one "bubble", we write 7 x 9 = 63.
With zeros , you can add a zero to the end so eg 23*20. Do 23*2=46 and add a zero on end so 23*20=460. I don't know if this is the proper way but it's how I would do it
Japanese math is with less lines in the math you are doing. This can be helpful in some cases but not proper way. Some Japanese math can be with more lines but carrying a number over and adding on to your smaller circles before adding it to your final answer.
I find the answer 703 thinking a moment and then I went to see the video which also confirmed 703. What was frightening were all those lines and dots and the time they took to count them. Better thinking as 37x20 = 740, then subtracting 30 and another 7 = 703.
Ive been struggling in maths so any video on TH-cam helps and the more I know then the better of i will turn out in the future thankyou for Posting this video
Are the steps the same for single and triple digit numbers like 8x4 or 125x144 or is there different methods if so do you know where I can find a video explaining it?
It’s the same no matter how many digits. I just saw a similar video on Reddit a couple days ago. It’s easier especially if you are a visual learner or if you know your single digit multiplication. Very original alternative for multiplying.
but if you have a whiteboard and a marker/pencil, its not any different than just doing it the regular way the real trick is doing it in your head, 012 013 x------ in your head -> 2x3=6, 2+3 = 5, 1x1 = 1 of course i started with the 1's column first, so just reverse, 156
I don't understand why people need this. Never needed it in school and I have ADHD and I consider myself an average mind. I could calculate thiese things in my head in no time eversince we learned the big multiplication table.. which was in what? 3rd grade or whatever. I was maybe 6 or 7 years old. More like 7 or 8 actually. By the time you counted to 63 I had already calculated the multiplication in my head for the 3rd time and by the time I would finish counting 63 places I would have to count again because I probably miscounted.
Does it matter which angle you start your diagonal lines from left top corner to bottom right or upper right to bottom left and does the first digit on both numbers always go above the second digits lines would it matter
It is not clear that weather it's Chinese or japanese, this method also called line and stick method. Maybe for the reason to keep it simple they named as...
I, and probably all the Japanese don’t learn this method. Instead, for example, to calculate 12×31, a normal method is used(I’m not sure if it’s displayed correctly): 12 X 31 --- 1 2 3 6 --- 3 7 2
Somebody solve this number 99*99 this trick is very difficult to apply in large number ..this trick is only possible to fast in very small number like 22*22 and 12*31
i am stuck in the walls of the ones place. the nightmare is coming. i am stuck in the walls of the ones place. do not talk to the one in the ones place
I'm trying to figure out the limit. I think it's 4. So for example if there's a number with a 5 or higher in any of its places, you wouldn't use this method on it.
I shall use this knowledge to confuse my math teacher
Lol same

My professor confused me with Japanese multiplication, but this video was extremely helpful
0:35 12×13
2:24 15×23
4:46 37×19
So nice trick
Thanks 🙂🙂
Great, now I know that I suck at math in two langauges...

Could you please further explain? I don’t fully understand.
Oh now I get it lmao she counts out 60 intersections 😂
Like who tf does that
At that point it's really no different from long multiplication. It's just a visual representation of it
I never liked math but I love this method and I'm going to teach it to my children.
I was today old when I learned this!! 55 years old. Amazing!!
37 years old here. This would’ve made elementary school easier and would’ve made multiplication fun
44 yrs, young rite here
Excellent example, easy to understand.
Quick question, how would I do it with a equation like 360*23 or something?
Triple digits would require you to draw a third line through your intersections
@@t.j.carlson7913 But you don't count anything on the zero line or use a red line to not confuse yourself
Just do 36 × 23 and add the zero in the last simple
Woah this is actually pretty cool
LIFECHANGING holy crap I’m able to math now!!!
Mam its quite fascinating, infact your way of explaining its amazing ...Thank a ton for sharing this trick.
I shall now be smarter starting today
wondering how to do zeros, like 20 X 20?

You factorise the 10 first, 2*10*2*10 = (2*2)*(10*10). So do the 2*2 then multiply by 100
@@breannamarshall1467 but what happens for example if the zero is in the middle, like 32*107 ?
This will be helpful for my maths at college

What if you had a 3 digit number, also are you gonna draw 9 lines if the number was like 99×99
Awesome lol thanks for this video. I couldn’t figure out how to use this solution with digits over 4
do the jump to trigonometry solid squares show a square root once only or do some calculus can you show base 8 math or octal
Thanks
great video. Thanks

The angle should be angled like they have it. I personally would start with ones spot
Me as Indonesian admit the best method for math is India (Hindi) method.
I love this! Though I'd need a MUCH bigger paper if the math was smth like

Because japanese build their homes from sticks

Can you do 45 x 38 for me ?
You got simple answer in multiply
this it is so hard i try this rule more than 10 times i do not find value 18 * 38 🤔🤔
Qt fun to learn a new method.
Jks aprt I thought u were drawing doll
so does it mean japanese people still uses this method? 🤨
How do I add *.5?
