So I was just rewatching the dual process video and noticed something - in the fnaf 4 minigames, it shows us that the employee inside the suit looks out of the mouth of the suit, NOT the eyes. To me, that makes it more likely that a slumped over/dead employee could be deep enough inside the suit that only the hair would be sticking out. Just something that struck me as noteworthy
Good point, although I'm not sure the eyes of a springlock animatronic can move out of the way. Still, in Afton's death scene one game prior, his eyes were shown to be looking out of the mask's sockets, so you might be onto something!
A week late, but... 55:00 I like that Mat mentions that the suit wouldn't fit the person while the screen shows a person not fitting in the suit correctly. The eyes are in the mouth, where we'd assume they should be at the eyes of the suit. Plus, if the springlocks went off, the corpse might not have enough strength/spinal integrity to hold the head up...
@@hamstersandwich9917 Granted theres is lots of connections and maybe very little to prod, but there's more stuff, like there need to be 5 MCI, otherwise it'd be the four missing children incident, Neither charlie nor Evan (yeah i agree with the name for starters) are part of that incident, they did convince me that puppet can and should come last, that maybe we got something wrong with the book (i think it's more likely all three afton kids having a convo), and that CC's body is in the box, but the theory about adding evan to the MCI? pinning that on henry then inmeadiately killing charlie when the circumstances mean he would be suspect no 1?
In regards to being afraid of the robots but not the characters, that's actually a very common reaction from kids. Growing up, I loved Daffy Duck, but the first time I went to a 6 flags park and was approached by a Daffy mascot and I legit panicked and cried. There's a big difference between having having small plushies and a giant character towering over you. That's how I've always rationalized his fear.
I had the exact analog of this fear as a kid- I knew the guy in the Chuck E. Cheese suit was a guy in a mascot suit and was fine being near it and hugging it and whatever. But the animatronic one? I could slowly kinda approach that one while it was performing and not freak out but the panic would rise. And when it wasn’t moving it weirded me out even more because, like… what if it DID move suddenly And don’t even get me started on seeing it through a gap in the curtains at the ones that did that during breaks in the show. Still gives me the creeps 😅
FR- I remeber when i us younger I was terrified of chuck e cheese, like i did not want to go near the person who walked around in the costume nor the animatronic on stage but I still liked the characters
Yes! I know so many people who love Disney but hate the mascot costumes. It's completely valid and it frustrates me to no end that Mat completely disregards it.
@@averyemlI was the exact opposite of you, I loved the Chuck E Cheese animatronic but I was terrified of the suit. I knew the animatronic was fake but the suit? There was a person in there, and I couldn’t predict what they would do. They could kidnap me or something. It’s probably telling about me that I thought this as a like 6 year old (this was also before FNaF so I had no reason to think the mascot would hurt me other than stranger danger)
I've always assumed that in the "I will put you back together" scene, William IS in person talking to CC, not through the doll. But in CC's delerium and near-death state, he sees William as his imaginary/plush toy friend that has the same voice FROM the walky talkies from earlier.
yeah I had my own thought that was similar as well. He is in a coma and we already know that when william speaks through the doll it has a certain colour. Maybe CC was dreaming about the doll speaking to him however when the other text appears it is williams true voice. Im not sure but i dont think we ever heard william speak outside of the bear in fnaf 4, however the only line of text where it would make sense that hes no longer talking through a speaker is the one with a different colour?. Id also like to point out that maybe the text is just different to put emphasis on how important his line of thinking was in that moment, since it lead to the same line of thinking in sister location?
Which makes sense,William lovibg his kids or not was a very neglectful parent. So it makes sense that when he is there in person,CC’s mind can’t even conjure his dad for comfort only the image of him in his mind
Well, he's our friend. He has even said that the banter he makes at the start and end of the GTLive stuff is because he likes to feel in touch with the viewers, so I never really thought that was gonna go. Besides, GTLive is the equivalent to a reaction channel, so he's not exactly working while doing this, since the editors are other people and he just sees something or plays a game... and I love that, he's taking it easy now, leaving the work to someone else while he just does what he loves

1:03:24 my take on the crying child being bit is that IT PHYSICALLY CANNOT BE A SUIT FAILURE. the spring locks are not wound up while the suit is in animatronic mode, the tears couldn't trigger them to snap into place.
This is something I feel confident about. There's no way The Bite is a "springlock failure". Even if they were wound for some reason, would they close the mouth shut like that? I don't think so.
As someone who has NOT followed the theories for literal years now and never saw the “it was a failure” thing I always just assumed it was “put squishy thing in between robot doing a job, squishy thing go squish” That mouth is built to open and shut in song, and it shut
Yeah the suit wouldn't be on stage and moving, without eyes visible through the mouth, unless the suit is in animatronic mode. So the springlocks aren't in use at that point and cannot fail to cause the bite
1:10:44 this one frame. Right here. I can see/hear the gears in grampat’s head as he sifts through a decade’s worth of fnaf lore to see how Cassidy Afton fits
Not gonna lie, I love long videos in general. Those videos being more supported on TH-cam now is a blessing for my eyes, but also a curse for my sleep schedule
The let's play curse is over, there was a time when only those got recommended to everyone and YT had to intervene in the algorithm to make it bearable again.
Long form videos are a great alternative to podcasts and audiobooks too, providing you with something to listen to while doing other things, like chores. The longer runtime also allows video essayists to present more thorough analyses.
There are a few drops and emotional hits I NEED Matt to see. DualProcessing’s answer to what’s in the box has to be the most resonating theory with me, and “the one you should not have killed” is PERFECT. Matt you’re in for a treat with this theory istg
@@Drave_Jr. W that’s 100% what i think it is too. “what’s in the box? its the pieces put together” makes so much sense. do they say that gregory is cassidy then?
Omg that major theory also works with the princess quest storyline with Cassie’s dad. OMG IS CASSIE NAMED AFTER CASSIDY/THE CRYING CHILD AFTER HER FATHER FEELING GUILTY FOR BEING BONNIE BRO?!?
I'm fairly certain that's said in the original video, actually :) or at least that Cassie was written to take on the fandom idea of who Cassidy. This isn't really a spoiler, it's more of a last thought of the og video
I'm actually not shocked by the Cassidy theory and have low-key pondered this since way back when the word search was solved. It always felt odd to have Mike and what seemed to be the Crying Child linked by a logbook yet have the puzzle name a third party we didn't even know existed at that point while also containing "it's me" as if the person should be recognizable.
I mean, that's true, but it just doesn't make sense that the person who reoeats to scribble "My name" is then not actually saying their name but the name of CC
Right It never felt right to me that Cassidy was so connected yet so separated from the main plot. Dual's theory makes so much sense. Top tier content!
I’m at somewhat shocked because I had thought while watching that theory “I really wonder what Matt would think of this, but it’s such a long video there’s no way he’d react to this”. I am so glad to be wrong.
49:09 One thing about this whole "What did CC see" debacle: Circus Baby was programmed only to strike when there was nobody else in the room, and her retelling of the events also say that kids only came in after it was done. While he could've secretly been peeking in, the fact that they put so much emphasis on Baby counting the kids in the room tells me that he wasn't there; therefore, that's not the thing he saw that made him scared.
The theory I've always had is that CC walked in on Elizabeth getting snatched and bolted to get his Dad before Circus Baby saw him, but idk if it makes any sense
I've been hoping Mat would react to this! As an early pioneer of the CassidyVictim theory, I'm really hoping this will be the push it needs to get it more widespread!
I was skeptical at first but I think the evidence is really solid. It would explain why CC has been supposedly nameless for so long while some "random kid" was named and oddly important instead.
This theory feels so much more natural and logical than other theories. I love that even after so much time people can still come up with new theories.
I literally saw the dual process theory blip past my recc vids like 3 weeks ago & went "wow 2 hours" and here it is in matpat form. This is like... 3 streams worth of material. AT LEAST
What's great is all the effort these two did entirely by themselves to produce a feature films worth of easily (as it gets) digestible, comedically bouncy and entertaining lore nuke. What's even greater is that this was the first video on their channel!! As much as i hate giving the bottom of the barrel knuckleheads at youtube an applause, i gotta admit the algorithm is at least kind of helping newer channels out a bit more
One thing that bothers me with Sister Location is that EVERYONE assumes it takes place in 1983. To me, that room with the plushy and the cameras is a shrine. "Never forget." That isn't the Fredbear that he talks to his son through. That WAS the Fredbear he talked to his son through, the one his son carried, just below the keypad, whose code is his son's death-year, that turns on cameras to his son's room, not a thing moved since that day. When making the sister animatronics, making their capture systems, Afton remembered his son's nightmares of his springlock suits. Why not? His animatronics were far more fluid and amorphous than the previous models. And to me, with FNAF 4, the crying child, being Afton's son, was aware of the springlock suit and the men inside. Maybe he was the right height to see inside. Just at the waist. And in turn, when the springlocks failed, he was the right height to watch the "teeth" dig in. Edit: Forgot to mention I believe the crying child told his father what he saw, describing the springlock as some stomach maw. Also, missed a couple words.
I agree! Why is everyone assuming that he must have used the radio while in the bunker, and not, you know... Used it before and then brought it down there?
@@cawareyoudoin7379 honestly for small things like that, which are really important clues, its just to vauge about what they mean. Entire theorys can be made and be compleatly different based on 1 vauge detail interpreted in different ways which make me think the story will never be solved.
If he did tell William, then maybe thats where the quote "whats seen in the shadows is easily misunderstood in the eyes of a child" wouldve came from. It could be William gaslighting CC.
55:39 I see what he's going for but if you look at the spring-lock suit shown on screen the actor's eyes are clearly coming out of the teeth of the animatronic on the bottom right. That partially indicates the size of these suits, big. The spring-lock suits would naturally be bigger when someone is in them because of the added size of the actor and the pressure applied to the outside of the suit when the spring-locks are pulled out. Given the size, it might be possible for the suits to hide somebody. Especially if the person is slumped.
That’s what I was thinking, add to that the pressure from the spring locks probably compressing the person further into the suit and/or them curling up due to the immense amount of pain they would be in, it makes sense to me you would only see the tufts of hair. And as they stated earlier, there wouldn’t be much external bleeding as the spring locks are plugging up the holes they create. Obviously it’s highly likely the person would twitch/writhe/struggle so there probably would be some bleeding but perhaps not enough to exit the suit without a significant amount of time

@@AlfaresAnas i don't remember every detail but here's the overview: - after the death of CC (or maybe even prior to it too) William starts abusing and manipulating Michael - according to their theory, the games themselves (minus 3) are William sending Michael into places he's been in to "clean up" and get rid of evidence - actual torture and nightmare gas may or may not be involved - there's a VERY important part of the theory that i do not want to spoil but suffice it to say that Michael may or may not know too much about something that William really doesn't want him to know about - the last time William sends him somewhere to do his bidding is when he sends Michael into SL to "fix" Elizabeth. Michael gets scooped because of this, but the catch is that there's no way William didn't know this would happen. he knew Michael would have died, and sent him in anyways because he cared more about Elizabeth, and also because he wanted to get rid of Michael now that he's done with him. this all leads to Michael's voice lines in the final SL cutscene: "Father. It's me, Michael. I did it. I found it. It was right where you said it would be. They were all there. They didn't recognize me at first but then they thought I was you. And I found her. I put her back together, just like you asked me to. She's free now. But something is wrong with me. I should be dead. But I'm not. I've been living in shadows. There is only one thing left for me to do now. I'm going to come find you. *I'm going to come find you.* " the "She's free now." line shows that he doesn't really blame Elizabeth for what happened to him, and he still loves her somewhat. but he repeats, very clearly, that *he is going to come and find William.*
I still think it's "Cassidy", just... You know, the Cassidy suggested by the video; CC. The associations between Golden Freddy, the Child's face, and Michael just aren't strong enough. It is an *incredible* theory regardless, and I want to see Matt's reaction to all of it.

around 1:05:00 So, I'm sure this has been brought up in the past, but the EKG needs a reading to give blips. While a flatline does mean the heart is in serious distress or stopped, yes, it could also mean that whoever was hooked up to the machine was removed from it, meaning there is nothing to monitor and the line goes flat. It's possible CC doesn't die in the hospital, but that he is disconnected and moved somewhere else.
It's a possibility but still a head canon, due to a lack of evidence in the games even a lack of parallels in the books. It works, but it's a biiiiig stretch for sure
Matpat: “It’s a real commitment to sit down and watch these TH-cam videos that are feature length films!!! Me: *Glanced at the time length of this video* 👀
This is a “live” channel that isn’t edited, just the raw footage. That different than what he’s talking about. Film, game, and style theory all are on the middle end in terms of length. This channel has always had long form content, that’s nothing new.
Ah man. Were you around when GTLive first got started? Not pulling the “I’ve been here since the beginning” card but you should take a look at the average time of the older videos. They were like this all the time, sometimes two hours.
It really bothers me that Mat can't understand why CC would be scared of the animatronics but like the plushies. I know so many people who love Disney but are terrified of the mascot costumes. It's completely valid and normal.
A thought occurred upon rewatching this, and I have no idea why I've never thought of it before. CC getting bit can't be a SPRING LOCK FAILURE because fredbear isn't in suit mode on stage, it's in animatronic mode. The spring locks aren't pulled back, they are in the resting state. It must have just been the natural motion of the jaw to close, but it can't have been a failure.
I think the change of color can be explained by a change in tone. William was probably putting on a voice when he was being Fredbesr, not just using his normal speaking voice. If he dropped that at the end, or said the final line in person, not through the plush, it would be a different voice as far as CC could tell.
2 notes about the theory abt the crying child seeing an employee die: -If the suit had enough internal room for it, and likely would for ease of getting off, it's possible the adult slumped into the suit's middle section as the slumped to the ground. Like idk if there's room in that core for a kid to be in fetus position, I think its fair to say an adult could like slump into more too. -They specifically noted eearlier that the injuries from springlocke failure wouldd very likely be intense INTERNAL bleeding, which would explain lack of splatter/pooling around the suit.
But when William afton got springlocked it was specifically portrayed to be a very bloody scene in the mini game which is inconsistent with their claim
@@adamhau9336 Is it out of the question that a suit being actively used, undergoing frequent upkeep, would be working well enough to keep a tight seal on any wounds, while an old suit rotting in a backroom may have broken pieces that cause worse external injuries?
@@adamhau9336 He's also specifically in a different suit. Bonny's suit is a lot slimmer than Freddy's so it's likely valid to say that the springlocke failure would be less severe in the Freddy suit than Afton's Bonnie suit.
Yeah I feel like the fanbase has ignored that spare room scene. I think this idea that it's an employee is probably the best answer, the other option it being a victim of William. But who at this point? Henry's daughter that he just killed for no reason? Who died outside the restaurant, it wouldn't make sense for her to be in the suit. It also looks like short male hair.
On the argument of "it's not an adult inside the fredbear suit" my thought is that, if you look at the picture of the character next to the table with the balloons, you can notice that his eyes only reach the mouth... In the repair room the character is not only in a resting position (which would allow their body to sink in slightly more taking up more space{of what little there is i know}) but they are also leaning forward which would place their face at a downward angle, meaning that you'd probably from a physics standpoint only be able to see the top of their head. (Which is what we are shown there) A child wouldn't be able to be seen because they'd literally have to be standing in the suit while it's sitting for you to see their head. Which you can assume from the fact that afton was hiding the bodies in the suits without being caught... At least with actual evidence of bodies... That it'd be nearly impossible for you to notice it as easily as you do in the second reference. So I'm sorry Mat, gonna have to disagree with ya there. Still enjoy ya tho. 55:50
Wait. People were thinking Fred Bear's Family Diner had to be in the '70s or '80s? I didn't realize this was part of the problem since I only hang out around game theorists. Based on real world history, that's just extremely unlikely. Because it's a diner. No one was opening diners in the 1970s. That's when fast food restaurants took over. Diners were prefabricated on the East Coast in the early 20th century until the Great Depression. But they were really noteworthy to me as part of the post-WWII boom, which is when most o the rest of the country got diners. A fair number of vets came back from the war and opened them up in the 1940s and 50s. So I've always been presuming that Fred Bear's Family Diner was founded in the 1950s because it's a diner. I mean, I'm about as old as Scott, so I would think he had similar world knowledge to me. So I always figured that was what he meant.
I didn’t recognize the name at first but when Ash said “two sisters” it clicked for me. Their video was very good, I’m really excited to see what Mat thinks
His brother easily could've put a wig on the opening for the head or stuffed a mop in the neck hole before locking his brother in there to freak him out more. Might explain what it meant about misunderstanding what he saw in the dark. He'd be too scared to see what was actually in there, especially if his brother told him the animatronics eat people.
I could totally see Mike and his friends, running to the kitchen, grabbing a mop, and a bucket of pizza sauce, and setting up a 'crime scene' Maybe even leaving him there (relatively) late at night, knowing that he was expected to walk home.
When the driver in Midnight Motorist talks to the "bouncer" he says 'Come on, you know you can't be here. Don't make this more difficult than it has to be.' IMO that doesn't read like they asked you to leave earlier for being drunk. This feels more like this is someone who is never supposed to be on the property again, like a troubled past owner? That feels strong to me.
I always read it as a bouncer since I first saw the scene. 1. There are multiple cars at the location during midnight(since the game is called midnight motorist) which makes me belive that this is not a Freddy's location. 2. The fact that there is security standing outside in the rain. 3.The man seems to be under the influence. His reckless driving, his weird posture, and his attitude towards his kid points towards a man that is either really mentally ill or drunk. Most likely, the driver just recently got told to leave the bar that day or was asked not to return priorly due to bad behavior. The green man's words to me portrayed a bouncer that knows why the yellow man is drinking excessively and doesn't want to have to use force or involve the police.
@@retwewe9916 I understand what you're saying, but I feel like if the issue were that the motorist had been there earlier the 'bouncer' would have said something referencing earlier. The way it's phrased seems less like something that just happened causing the refusal and more like something the motorist is just known to do. I don't refute the motorist seeming drunk but that doesn't necessarily mean he was returning to the place he had drank earlier. Maybe he does this a lot so the bouncer is ready for it. Sometimes, when a person drinking as self treatment for emotional pain, they can end up deciding in their drunkenness to go fix the problem/address it in some way. Like the cliche of the drunken ex showing up suddenly to 'win you back'. But that could also support your argument so who really knows? XD

44:01 if I had a nickel for every time the word “cockle” would be said in the following few minutes I would be rich enough to pay off inspectors so I could keep my shady children’s restaurant running 🐻🎤💀
To me it makes total sense that crying child witnessed someone getting mortally wounded by a spring lock failure, and for the dad to push on that trauma and fear, to keep him away from the suits, knowing how dangerous they are. Which is why he allows Michael to continue the bullying. But the problem isn't that the crying child doesn't know how dangerous the suits are, it's that Michael doesn't. So not knowing what the crying child saw, and not knowing how dangerous the suits are. He takes it one step too far, kicking off the entire series, with the first death. The wires or body part isn't as important to me, either way the child has seen someone dead because of the suit and doesn't want to be close to it. It could be wires, or a decomposing body that's slumping into the suit. Why they would keep that around, I have no idea, it's the FNAF universe.... Also, on a different note... Fun fact, depending on what colour wheel you're looking at. Yellow is the opposite of Purple ( more commonly it's green, but bare with me ) Making william afton both purple and yellow, could be symbolic to a change of character after the death of crying child and the five missing children case. Meaning he wasn't always the purple guy, he became the purple guy. Which narratively, I looooove
You know, it's weird. I somehow have a much easier time sitting down and watching multiple 2+ hour long TH-cam videos, than I do watching most ACTUAL movies nowadays. 😅

@@jonathanhibberd9983 Agreed. There are a few points of evidence that feel a bit weak, but the logical chain and the conclusion I just can't find an argument against. Like even if I completely disbelieve the weaker spots, the argument still holds.
@@jonathanhibberd9983 two of my biggest problems with their theory are: 1) they treat UCN voicelines too seriously, and ignore that only few of them are directly said by Vengeful Spirit 2) They literally ignored the best fnaf 4 cutscene, where Crying Child flatlines after his family/friends say their goodbyes
@@lemadmem1224 the voice lines they use which they say are the vengeful spirit all have the secondary voice that indicates it's the VS talking through the animatronic. And they ignore the end scene of CC's death because there's no relevant information. There are two, maybe three people talking (if the two yellow colors are different people). We can assume it's Michael & William (maybe one yellow is William talking through GF and the other is him talking directly). There's no evidence that it would be anyone else, and plenty that it's those two. And no matter who it is - it has zero impact on their theory. They don't address him by name, so his name can still be Cassidy. The only way it changes their theory is if one of the voices is Charlie and the other is Elizabeth - meaning he died first. Which is ridiculous. Or if one of the voices was the vengeful spirit, which is equally as ridiculous.
I feel like the answer Matt is looking for about why Afton would scare the crying child of the suits if he died first. Is as simple as the spring lock failures he would have known that the suits were dangerous and maybe he did the same things to Micheal but Micheal being a teenager really didn’t care.
Proof? - Michael, in the fnaf movie, appears to be Henry's kid. His last name in that installment isn't a cover story, but rather his actual name. - It makes thematic sense for Michael Afton, when taking a pseudonym as a way to seperate from his father, to take upon the name of his father's rival. - It's a German surname that means "metalworker," and Henry is established as the engineer.
The fact that the video started with fnaf 3 phone guy mentioning the "unfortunate incident at the sister location involving multiple and simultaneous springlock failures" is very interesting go me, especially since dual process theory mentions they don't really know how to explain the shadow animatronics, so I'll try my best to explain what I think here: Matpat's fnaf 3 theory that the springlock failures mentioned were 2 employees in a fredbear and springbonnie costume who went on to become the shadow animatronics because their bodies were removed from the suit is, at least in my mind, the most logical solution to this question. Since then Matpat has changed his thought on this and thinks that that phone guy call is a reference to the bite of 83', but that can't be a springlock failure since by definition, a springlock failure is when the springlocks in a suit in suit mode come loose and release the endoskeleton parts putting it in animatronic mode, so how can the bite of 83' be that springlock failure if fredbear was in animatronic mode when he bit the crying child TLDR: Matpat was correct about the shadow animatronics and the springlock failures in the fnsf 3 phone guy calls from the start
I think the crying child liking the plushies, but not liking animatronics, could be equivalent to a little kid liking a Mickey Mouse doll, but not liking the giant human actor version, because it’s completely different. Or the cartoon version and dolls, versus one that towers over you or moves weird or something. Also, probably dumb question, but where the main cast actually at that location? Because we just see the spring suits so maybe they’re not even at that one and he’s just afraid of those particular animatronics or location.
54:05 "Which means you only really need one 'failure' to have happened. Which seems to imply that that was Afton's death, or Afton getting trapped inside... Or not Afton getting trapping inside, because that happens later... but someone else potentially dying inside." ...someone, like the person they theorize Crying Child saw going into the backroom to bleed out? 54:41 As for the person stuffed in the suit possibly not being an adult~ or at least not being someone who'd be hired to wear the suit, because, y'know, short people exist... They're slumped over, dead. Not exactly standing up straight, properly wearing the suit. Why couldn't their now crushed-by-springlocks, deceased body be a bit more compact than they normally would be? It's just a couple inches, going from their eyes sticking out of Fredbear's neck, to their hair sticking out of the top. It's not like they're buried in there, clearly a foot or two smaller than someone wearing the suit should be.
Logically, if they are skewered by the spring locks, that should hold your body up as they are located throughout the whole suit. Slumped over or not, your head's not going to sink down inside the suit by 6 inches or so leaving just the top of your head sticking out. Thankfully, we've seen the spring suit in live action so we know exactly how the spring locks work and we see just how deep they dig into the flesh when they go off thanks to the movie. With those Klaus basically digging deep into your rib cage and sides, there's no way you are sliding down 6 inches or more so only the top of your head is sticking out of the suit. At best, your face would fall forward in the top of your head would be facing outward, but that's not what we see in that image from the game. From the game we see what looks to be something brown sticking straight up out of the neck. It's also unlikely it would be someone shorter as they probably wouldn't be able to use the suit properly to begin with since they would not fit inside of it in a way that they would be tall enough to actually see out. I'd be surprised if they had stilts in the bottom of the legs to compensate for shorter people. Logically, they would hire people that would naturally fit in the suit without having to alter the suit in some way. That's just my random thoughts as I lay here ready for bed.
Around that second point; I don't think that it's ACTUALLY a body But that CC is misinterpreting what he's seeing as there being a person slumped over in there What's seen in the dark is easily misunderstood in the eyes of a child
I don't think he was really against that, the whole tangent about the "simultaneous springlock failures" was just there to explain his interpretation that, That phrase could mean just one person dying and not multiple people in close succession
Also it I do think the point still stands even if that scene isn't actually showing a body. Like they said, members of the afton family would have known about the backrooms and on a different occasion could have either been locked in the backroom or walked in when someone was dying and is now terrified of them. Like yeah this is speculation but this isn't any less speculation than cc somehow seeing Elizabeth die especially considering that they were confirmed to be alone.
Something I noticed in the graphic novels were that colors changed for random frames. Like in the fourth closet William afton clothes color changed between pages. Probably because “line art” and coloring are done by different people
I'm really thankful for Ash keeping things on track because one thing I think Mat suffers from is lingering on really small things for way too long, especially in this video where things get explained throughout the ENTIRE video, meaning if he's talking about something for 15 minutes that'll get explained in 3 minutes (or 30 minutes) it's important he actually gets to that point. No hate ofc! Just something that I noticed, especially because this theory is THE best theory I've ever seen... but is also the longest one with the most buildup. Everything is important in their explanations.
Haven't watched your reaction yet but I'm so excited they're getting the recognition!!!! Their video made me rethink most of my own fnaf knowledge in the best way possible
Thinking about it. Maybe the yellow text was just like a change in his mental state. Like from normal to obsessive with an idea. I will find a way to put you back together.
55:31 Well depends how much the springlock suit would mangle their posture when it fails. And it's also assuming that the pixel artist didn't get any aspect of the anatomy wrong and that Scott was meticulous enough to check it. (and the previous example of Henry's wife having the wrong hair colour kinda implies that maybe there isn't the highest level of scrutiny at all times)
I PIECED IT TOGETHER! What if the child is afraid because he sees the robot parts in the room he was locked in and now he thinks that the endoskeletons are actually the skeletons of the real employees that he has been seeing enter the suits!
I actually love super long videos for listening to while I'm doing something else because it really limits the amounts of time I have to stop what I'm doing to pick out something else, and I actually find it a lot less overwhelming to listen to one topic for four hours than eight different topics at half an hour each
I love how matpat calls himself retired but he’s still doing just as much work as most TH-camrs, dives his workload by four and still works more than most TH-camrs
I will say, I have a 10 year old son, and he loves all sorts of horror. He has fnaf toys, Poppy, doors, the works... but the second I take him costume shopping at spirit Halloween and we walk near one of the decoration displays, he's by my side and shaking like a leaf. Sometimes the big things are just scarier.
I'm glad you're checking them out. Wasn't sure if you would due to the video length and language, but I think they did a great job with it. And for a brand new channel too!
Duel Process Theory really was like "Uh oh! How unfortunate. Uh oh! How unfortunate. I'm gonna do a sneaky thing, and throw a new contender in the ring!"
I was under the impression that MatPat was no longer on TH-cam at all. I'm so glad to see all these videos on gt live as I always preferred the long form anyway :)
The twin in the novels is probably just an explanation from Henry so that Charlie don't find it wierd that their father grief a dead child he never had. He probably added Sammy into Charley's memories too since it would be much easier for hismm to mass this lie this way.
@@almightykellus2585 rip. But wait. Are they possibly doing it for Henry has he told them to lye about her kidnaping so that she recover better. But that's omega spéculative. Instead I'll ask. When does thoses character talk about Sammy? Is it in Charlie's memories?

@captainphoton1693 On pages 306-309 of The Fourth Closet, Elizabeth shows Charlie some of Henry's memories. Same! I love this theory so much I’m really happy he’s watching this!
I honestly saw this video because RyeToast shared it. He is one of the major players.
Yeah, it has been criminaly underseen
So I was just rewatching the dual process video and noticed something - in the fnaf 4 minigames, it shows us that the employee inside the suit looks out of the mouth of the suit, NOT the eyes. To me, that makes it more likely that a slumped over/dead employee could be deep enough inside the suit that only the hair would be sticking out. Just something that struck me as noteworthy
Omg you're so right!
especially when you also consider that people have varying heights! entirely agreed
Good point, although I'm not sure the eyes of a springlock animatronic can move out of the way.
Still, in Afton's death scene one game prior, his eyes were shown to be looking out of the mask's sockets, so you might be onto something!
The suits need to be big enough to fit a person so it makes sense with all those mechanical parts
it could also be a teenage worker who died before hitting their growth spurt
A week late, but...
55:00
I like that Mat mentions that the suit wouldn't fit the person while the screen shows a person not fitting in the suit correctly. The eyes are in the mouth, where we'd assume they should be at the eyes of the suit. Plus, if the springlocks went off, the corpse might not have enough strength/spinal integrity to hold the head up...
Right? That could EASILY be an employee following policy
Dual Process' theory was the first FNAF theory in a long time where I felt fully satisfied afterward. I'm so happy that Matt is watching it.
It's honestly the first theory i hate to disagree with, it's so well done overall I hate that I can't come around to it
@@jpreyes6640 why can't you come around to it?
Same, this theory gave me peace after so long!
I like how well it dovetails with GiBi's ginormous FNaF timeline/theory video-they complement each other very well
In regards to being afraid of the robots but not the characters, that's actually a very common reaction from kids.
And when it wasn’t moving it weirded me out even more because, like… what if it DID move suddenly
And don’t even get me started on seeing it through a gap in the curtains at the ones that did that during breaks in the show. Still gives me the creeps 😅
FR- I remeber when i us younger I was terrified of chuck e cheese, like i did not want to go near the person who walked around in the costume nor the animatronic on stage but I still liked the characters
Absolutely agree
Yeah, that makes sense.
Ooooh!!!
Could potentially explain the slightly different text color too, maybe
yeah I had my own thought that was similar as well.
Matpst Im BEGGING that you don’t abandon this video like really it will change your entire view of the series 😭

Theres something sweet about the fact Mat is still with us after retirement

I keep thinking about this!! Why isn’t it mentioned more?
This is something I feel confident about. There's no way The Bite is a "springlock failure".
Even if they were wound for some reason, would they close the mouth shut like that? I don't think so.
I've always been saying this ever since it was first asserted to be a springlock failure by MatPat. It's a major pet peeve of mine to this day.
As someone who has NOT followed the theories for literal years now and never saw the “it was a failure” thing I always just assumed it was “put squishy thing in between robot doing a job, squishy thing go squish”
That mouth is built to open and shut in song, and it shut
Yeah the suit wouldn't be on stage and moving, without eyes visible through the mouth, unless the suit is in animatronic mode. So the springlocks aren't in use at that point and cannot fail to cause the bite
1:10:44 this one frame. Right here. I can see/hear the gears in grampat’s head as he sifts through a decade’s worth of fnaf lore to see how Cassidy Afton fits

Long form videos are a great alternative to podcasts and audiobooks too, providing you with something to listen to while doing other things, like chores. The longer runtime also allows video essayists to present more thorough analyses.

49:09 One thing about this whole "What did CC see" debacle:
Circus Baby was programmed only to strike when there was nobody else in the room, and her retelling of the events also say that kids only came in after it was done. While he could've secretly been peeking in, the fact that they put so much emphasis on Baby counting the kids in the room tells me that he wasn't there; therefore, that's not the thing he saw that made him scared.
Thank you; I'm glad I'm not the only person who paid attention to that detail.

Agreed. They took something that typically reads like hieroglypics and made it reasonably understandable.
Edit: Forgot to mention
I believe the crying child told his father what he saw, describing the springlock as some stomach maw.

44:50 Ash dropping the "Mathew" bit was performed with the perfect delivery and I love it
55:39 I see what he's going for but if you look at the spring-lock suit shown on screen the actor's eyes are clearly coming out of the teeth of the animatronic on the bottom right.
Obviously it’s highly likely the person would twitch/writhe/struggle so there probably would be some bleeding but perhaps not enough to exit the suit without a significant amount of time
It definitely feels like a reach though.

@@TennessineGD I didn't (planning to do, tho), give me the evidence
@@AlfaresAnas i don't remember every detail but here's the overview:
- after the death of CC (or maybe even prior to it too) William starts abusing and manipulating Michael
- according to their theory, the games themselves (minus 3) are William sending Michael into places he's been in to "clean up" and get rid of evidence
- actual torture and nightmare gas may or may not be involved
- there's a VERY important part of the theory that i do not want to spoil but suffice it to say that Michael may or may not know too much about something that William really doesn't want him to know about
- the last time William sends him somewhere to do his bidding is when he sends Michael into SL to "fix" Elizabeth. Michael gets scooped because of this, but the catch is that there's no way William didn't know this would happen. he knew Michael would have died, and sent him in anyways because he cared more about Elizabeth, and also because he wanted to get rid of Michael now that he's done with him.
this all leads to Michael's voice lines in the final SL cutscene:
"Father.
*I'm going to come find you.* "
the "She's free now." line shows that he doesn't really blame Elizabeth for what happened to him, and he still loves her somewhat.
but he repeats, very clearly, that *he is going to come and find William.*

Actually kind of relates to a possibility Dual Process posits later in the video!
It's a possibility but still a head canon, due to a lack of evidence in the games even a lack of parallels in the books. It works, but it's a biiiiig stretch for sure
This also supports DPT's theory, they say that cc was removed from hospital before he died

2 notes about the theory abt the crying child seeing an employee die:
-If the suit had enough internal room for it, and likely would for ease of getting off, it's possible the adult slumped into the suit's middle section as the slumped to the ground.
@@adamhau9336that suit was full of holes
The cockles discussion had me cracking up so hard. I heard what Ash Heard, and it was painful.
Yeah, funny he was talking about that when the very image that could disprove his statement was on screen

I could totally see Mike and his friends, running to the kitchen, grabbing a mop, and a bucket of pizza sauce, and setting up a 'crime scene'
Maybe even leaving him there (relatively) late at night, knowing that he was expected to walk home.
XD
@@Caexkepesk the bouncer doesnt have to say something to reference earlier. its called 'later that night' with the keyword being THAT night. hes been here earlier and is returning again. thats my interpretation anyway

I think this is the first one where I can't find any fault with it, other than some nit-picky things. They made their case well, and everything feels solid.
@@jonathanhibberd9983 Agreed. There are a few points of evidence that feel a bit weak, but the logical chain and the conclusion I just can't find an argument against. Like even if I completely disbelieve the weaker spots, the argument still holds.
@@jonathanhibberd9983 two of my biggest problems with their theory are: 1) they treat UCN voicelines too seriously, and ignore that only few of them are directly said by Vengeful Spirit
2) They literally ignored the best fnaf 4 cutscene, where Crying Child flatlines after his family/friends say their goodbyes
@@jonathanhibberd9983My biggest problem with the theory is the fifth MCI kid being basically written off by the theory
I feel like the answer Matt is looking for about why Afton would scare the crying child of the suits if he died first. Is as simple as the spring lock failures he would have known that the suits were dangerous and maybe he did the same things to Micheal but Micheal being a teenager really didn’t care.
56:38 I think it would make sense if after the adult is dead they’re slumped down into the suit. Doesn’t have to be a child.
19:58 Imma throw out a possible surname, for if Emily was a middle name - Schmidt.

Since then Matpat has changed his thought on this and thinks that that phone guy call is a reference to the bite of 83', but that can't be a springlock failure since by definition, a springlock failure is when the springlocks in a suit in suit mode come loose and release the endoskeleton parts putting it in animatronic mode, so how can the bite of 83' be that springlock failure if fredbear was in animatronic mode when he bit the crying child
TLDR: Matpat was correct about the shadow animatronics and the springlock failures in the fnsf 3 phone guy calls from the start
That also could very well have been what cc saw in the back room with the slumped over animatronic
Matpat: the cockles of my heart are warmed.
Ash: USE SOMETHING ELSE OTHER THAN COCKLES!
I like the way he says "i might have a baseline on the lore" when he made that baseline 😭
Around that second point;
I don't think that it's ACTUALLY a body
But that CC is misinterpreting what he's seeing as there being a person slumped over in there
What's seen in the dark is easily misunderstood in the eyes of a child
Probably because “line art” and coloring are done by different people
It’s almost like he’s still here with us, fly high Matpat 🕊️
