    They take the English language for one crazy ride. Their wordplay is unexcelled.

    I don't get the bit at 20:47; why would Churchill be scrambling about for a telegram?

      @MrSlartibafast  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Arrr welll this is a running GaG the Goons had which was from that time (I don't go that far back) its not actually Churchill but Neville Chamberlain who back in the days when WW2 broke out he famously said he lost a Telegram regarding the outbreak of the War. Glad you enjoyed. I do have more to Upload but havent round to them yet

      @@MrSlartibafast This very much like Private Eye with its phrases like Ugandan Affairs which only mean anything to the long term reader and Molesworth phrases. Max Geldray is something else also. What a totally brilliant eclectic mix of words and talents this show was and never to be seen again. Thanks for putting these episodes on air.
      The Robin Hood saga is always good comedy and who better to enact it than Kevin Costner as it was pure straight comedy made better by the actor being blissfully unaware of it. I remember a glorious time seeing Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves in a UK cinema with a very bawdy and lively audience. It was almost like a Music Hall show from the past when people could interact and say what they thought of things. Alan Rikman and the audience were the only people to see it as nonsense and in the film version there was a comedic section that was cut in any versions I have seen since where the Sheriff was going to have his wicked way with Marion. When Sean Connery, the great Scottish patriot probably on a fleeting visit from his residence in warmer climes, regally appeared on the horse to talk to the Saxon rebels there was a massive groan from the audience. Of course there was no way Richard's French would be understood by the natives even if he was actually in the country or he would even deign to talk to them. Richard I was a total monster and when he was Duke of Aquitaine the people there were begging people from all around to free them from him.
