If I end up on the bottom, I play half guard. Then I love wrestling up from there using this technique. And there are so many gems in this video to help you make it work opposed to thinking this move is trash and doesn’t work.
I'm 4.5 years in to BJJ, been taught this by multiple teachers and just can't make it work. Maybe my timing is off but as soon as I try to come up, the opponent just smashes me back down. Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Now focusing on going to deep half instead.
@@JamesBrown- thanks so much, I will keep all this in mind and try again. Like you say, speed and deception goes along way in BJJ. Can I ask: which part is the ‘knee twerk’?
Try deep half guard, meaning as you are shooting for underhook try to grab behind his left knee with your right arm. This eliminates the smash and the cross body
Then attack the far leg with either your arms or even your free leg and make ‘em fall harder. You do that once and they’ll want to stay on the ground where it’s safe.
That's why the high knee shield is so important. If there's no knee shield, or if it's low, it's just so much easier to get smushed. It's also important to play with the position with a helpful training partner who can offer degrees of resistance while you experiment with the position.
This is my goto half guard sweep, and you showed many details I didn’t know or applied incorrectly. Thanks!
It´s my favorite sweep and besides taking the back with the other hook I didn´t know the head details so thanks for sharing.
I like this move sometimes i have trouble with it, but ive mostly been having trouble with learning to love again
Beautifully Explained ❤ - been working on this position
thanks for this, was having trouble shooting my arm through for the reasons you explained and this will help for sure.
Grateful for the knowledge
Thanks Lachlan awesome

I feel like no one stays on their knees anymore and immediately goes to stand up.
Thanks Craig Jones!

Perfect then you go to your X guards
At some gyms they ONLY pass from their knees and nobody stands up.
@@1234kingconan they will get swept pretty easily then
🔥🔥🔥
Lachlan has the equivalent to a Ph.D. in jiujitsu.
so thats if your opponent stays perfectly on their knees long enough for you to swim through an underhook. most of us getting smashed lol
Step 1: don't get smashed

ok well yea assuming yu have a high knee shield
This needs to be muscle memory and has to happen in process very quickly.
