- Australian BJJ black belt Reece McLaren faced Filipino-American opponent Mark Striegl at ONE: SPIRIT OF CHAMPIONS in Manila. "Mugen" shot for a double-leg takedown in the third round, resulting in both men ending up on the canvas. McLaren was able to get the upper hand and rained down punches and elbows, before securing the back for a fight-ending rear-naked choke submission.

Striegl had it if he just keeps throwing soccer kicks, but he likes to go for grappling instead of striking and thats where he squanders his chances.
Somehow he can’t seem to get a good coach in the striking department…
He could have definitely ended it by developing a stronger Ground and POUND game. He just wasted a win by going for a kimura instead of just mounting a dazed Reese and continue hitting him. Mark is a good wrestler but that won’t go far in the highler level of fighters. There’s better wrestlers who also have superior strong striking abilities. He lacks striking combos and seems to only have one takedown.
No matter how good you are, if you run out of gas.. oh man, that’s tough. Spirit might be willing but the body is tired.

Mark looked superior until third round. Reece looked slow, distracted and both kicks and punches looked weak. At the end of second Mark got cocky and started receiving kicks and punches as if they were useless and somehow in third it took a laughable turn.
He just gets exhausted, not cocky thats it.

Johnny Munoz vs Mark Striegl - good match-up between a strong wrestler and a BJJ fighter - I actually gonna be favoring Munoz here, Striegl is super intense on the first round, will shoot and get himdown, but I dont think he will do much damage and he wont be able to grapple much with the better BJJ player - Striegl will probably slow down from the second and I think in the third Munoz will be able to pull up a sub - pick Munoz, interested in prop bets
