Hi Everyone! I'm truly honoured that you have given my video a shot, and you've left good feedback and many constructive comments for me to work on. I originally started creating these videos because I recognized the significance of using animations to teach the visual language of Art. I understand that learning about art analysis or art theory through reading alone can be challenging, which is why I decided to make these videos, especially for my students.
I'm currently working on the next video, and I've taken careful note of some recurring suggestions:
- I'll be significantly reducing the background music volume.
- I'll pay closer attention to the correct pronunciation of names.
- I'll slightly slow down the pace of the video.
- I'll make sure to proofread my script thoroughly (I'm sincerely sorry for the "she" at 0:09 - Hopper is indeed a guy ).
I also want to clarify that the content of this video is not generated solely by AI. I've been teaching Art for 8 years, and I've gathered a wealth of information from various sources, such as books, videos, websites, and art critics. I've distilled this knowledge into concise methods for art analysis, which I share with my middle and high school students. This video explores one of these methods.
To speed up my video production process, I use an AI voice and Grammarly to ensure accurate sentence structures. I use ChatGPT for some paragraphs to explore different ways of communicating an idea with different phrases or sentence structures.
However, the content of the script, the selection of artworks, and the animation are all created entirely by me. I rely on Keynote and Clipchamp to put the whole video together (special thanks to @polymatter for inspiring me to create educational videos).
I hope that you will continue to find these videos to be beneficial to you as you learn more about Art. Ever since I was a kid, Art has been a gateway to understanding history, philosophy, geography, politics, and so much more. I hope that Art can offer you the same enriching experience. 😊
I have taught painting on and off for years, one to one only, I usually take students to some major Art/Gallery, museum to see what they like, I tell them to work primarily on composition and to work to their strengths and let their weaknesses take care of themselves, it's never really worked though, it depends on what they're after I suppose
Thanks for the clarification. I think that content like this is far more engaging when delivered by a human voice (your own perhaps?) than the unnatural sentiment AI currently delivers. Look forward to your next video and love that you’ve taken the feedback onboard! Good luck.
I am prepared to do 'voice overs' and provide import for you if you want, nice to see you're getting so much support, you must be doing something right
ai is inauthentic and soulless, and that shows clearly in your videos
keep contributing to carbon emissions, wastewater, and the downfall of humanity by continuing your usage of ai, fully abandon your humanity, conform only to efficiency 🙂
I like the content very much and am sure that the next video with all these improvements will be really great😊
I am very interested to watch, but I find the voice narrating extremely irritating. I will have to use subtitles.
It’s really good we can choose from both subtitles and artificial audio narration though for accessibility purposes alone, so I’m grateful!
AI narration is a big turn off for me too
Might as well just get Stephen Quiller's book 'Colour Choices' and study composition rather than listen to robots
Thank you for giving my video a shot! I will fine-tune the audio in future videos.
I will never know if this was a good video. I only lasted 23 seconds with that awful AI narration.
The content is interesting and helpful in understanding art as well as providing options for artists to play with. Unfortunately the voices are mechanical and the speaking rate is too fast for me, but since the content is good, I will keep on learning!
Thank you for your feedback! Will definitely take note of them in the next few videos.
a robot teaching humans art. what a world. it misgendered edward hopper in the first 10 seconds.
That was going to be my comment, I am glad someone else said it first. It felt really weird to have an AI voice explain to me how to understand the meaning and emotion of color.
100%, and i find the flashing on the right side really bothers me. Thanks for trying though.
Please get real person to narrate... it doesnt have to be perfect or pro but the warmth of human voice is already soothing. @@LearnAboutArt
I must say, I'm thoroughly impressed. Bravo!
Many thanks for this incredible video!! Very well done and I feel like I learned a lot. Deeply appreciate this and will go look at others on your channel, please keep up the great work!
Brilliant, jammed-packed video. I love how well it is constructed and how succinctly the information is conveyed. It did feel a little rushed, an 8 minute video, might have allowed a little more breathing room for understanding than the 6:37 running time. Bravo. I subscribed!
Thank you very much for your subscription and feedback!
@@LearnAboutArtI would add to this that the music track was too loud and competed too heavily with the narration. Those, as well as the abovementioned speed left no space to enjoy what was being presented.
You’ve given us some interesting insights to munch on 😊👍🌟
Thank you for this video,34 years old ive just started experimenting with Acrylics more, needed this
When I do a painting I use the colors I want. Sometimes the colors have a lot to do with memories and how they play against each other. There are many reasons why colors are used by the artists. My mother used colors in her paintings that she felt were right for the picture. Sometimes the colors are not symbolic. They are just the colors that were right.
That’s literally what they mean ,if you use a color to recall a memory ,they are symbols of that memory ,there’s always a reason why something fits right in
Wow This vidoe showed how much complexity their is in colour and level of skill needed to exacute such feats of desig is resounding. This is likely the level of skill that high end art institutions like look for when selecting student.
This is the absolute Best color theory video I've seen! Thank you for the artwork examples, that helped so much.
I'm so glad!
This is insightful and indeed helpful to analyze color. Looking forward to watch the second part of this video such as the color symbolism, relative color temperature, and cultural color associations. Thank you for doing this!
This is so clear in understanding the color theory. LOVE!
A beautiful lesson in colors for an inspirational morning.
Very informational, but I agree with the comments saying the AI voice isn't pleasing to the ear. Videos like this are better when slow-paced, narrated by soft, calm, and relaxing voice. Videos by Jill Poyern Fine Art is a great reference.
Thank you, I found your instruction most helpful and informative. Thanks a lot. I’m going to watch it again and presumably again.
This is awesome & so accessible- thank you for this tutorial. Very useful for my photography.
from 2:56 to 5:05 where the explanation of colour temperature begin the background music is upbeat and also consist more instruments which makes hard to listen to the voice and difficult to comprehend the information, apart form the information is raw and good keep posting.
i love this video. its summarized and simple. its straight forward and understandable
As an amateur, I find the video very informative and it allows me to look at color combinations differently in future.
Tqvm. ❤ 🙏
Very pleasing to understand the theories behind colors!
I have searched for many videos on colour theory and this is the best so far, thanks.
Thank you very much!
Same opinion over here
Try this one for photographers and get back to me. Much more in depth (and much longer) but well worth the time. It completely changed my photography and it could be applied to any art form.

Very good content ..it’s very helpful .
Best and most compact art analysis I have ever seen!
Thank you! Really appreciate it
Whoa !!! I am definitely going to apply these knowledge in my paintings. Hope they will enhance visual interest of my paintings.
Wow! This is brilliant, so much value in this information. Love it.
The information and using real examples is great
I would love individual explanations on each of these chapters that go more in depth!
For example, what are more works that have naturalistic vs unnatural lighting?
Thank you soooooooo much for this video. I took notes!!!!!! Very much needed by me. Thank you!!!!
So glad the video is useful to you!
Спасибо за такое прекрасное видео!
I have recently discovered this channel and I like it very much! I would like to know more about the 3 topics you mentioned at the end, and so much more about the composition of paintings. Keep up the good work!
Thank you! Yup those topics will definitely be in future videos :)
Wonderful initiative, thank you for this!
THIS IS AMAZING! Look I LOVE art ,obviously, but THIS way of seeing it? It just makes me fall in love with the genius, logic and emotions behind masters' artwork and their use of color , which is GREAT to me. THANK YOU so much for that. One of the most useful 7-ish min art videos ever!
Wow, thank you! So glad you found this helpful 🙏🏼
@@LearnAboutArt you're so welcome. it is super helpful. As a beginner artist who's just REALLY thirsty to learn more about art, and wants to eventually make very pleasing to the eye original artworks with no option to go to a real art school.. I've been longing to find videos/books of examples this well explained analyzing colors in masterpieces. Now color theory just makes sense even more. So thank YOU again for making interesting videos!
could you please make a video about the art style in renaissance period ?@@LearnAboutArt
I’m not making art videos of the past anytime soon. But do check out these channels, I’ve gained a lot from watching their videos:

An absolutely brilliant presentation. This channel is superb. thank you
Wonderful! Clear presentation, easy to follow and understand. Looking forward to your next videos
Thank you very much!
Succint and great explanatiom of color theory. Nice work. I liked the two narrators. It kept the video moving rather than being monotonous.
Thank you so much, I enjoyed the video and learned a lot from all the examples. I keep coming back to watch your video again :)
You're very welcome! Thank you for watching!
this is super helpful! Can't wait for next video!
Thank you for watching!
Just my two cents, I think you’ve chosen very good, AI voice overs. They’re in and see ation is very clear and concise and you’ve mixed it up with male and female. I appreciate what you’ve done. I am a watercolor artist, but it’s always nice to hear and review basics. Good job.
Thank you so much for making this video. You are a great teacher. When I heard the voice, I did guess it was AI, and I didn't like that because it sounded artificial. The video was fast for me, but I just paused it from time to time. The content and examples were excellent.
I concur, on all fronts!
Wow, thank you!
Highly informative and entertaining. Like that you applied the colour theories to real, famous paintings. 👍😃.
Glad you enjoyed it!
A great video in its content! Unfortunately, the AI voices killed it for me. I found it far too mechanical and it was rushing the information. AI voices can be a huge risk and it didn't pay off this time in my opinion. I'll give you my sub because I like what you're trying to do, but I really hope the voices can be improved, significantly.
English is my second language and I could understand everything perfectly, thank you for this
I'm so glad!
Thanks for the video. Very easy to understand.
The AI voice didn't bother me too much and I have hearing impairment. So not a problem for me. I think those who comment on this need to distinguish whether there issue is with AI or the content... which was excellent. It was very informative and lucidly explained and gave me a good grounding in colour theory and techniques that will help with my colour grading of photos in Photoshop as well as digital collage. Thank you for this much appreciated 👏 😊
This is SO helpful thankssss
Need more videos like this.
Thanks for the nice video. Straight to the point!
Thank you!!!
Please upload the next part asap
Very clear and insightful. And very condensed. One should study this many times over.
But what caught my ear was the "violation" of the name of Edvard Munch. Pronounced as "munch". So, a chewy thing? 😁😁 Better try "Moonk". Or, better yet, "Moongh". European vowels always trip up Americans (and others). 😁😁😁 But, very good video.
Nice video.
Colors can also enhance perspective. Blue being farther away.
So interesting!
Wow! great work! ... "stunning"! 🌟
Thank you very much!
This is great stuff. It explains a lot about how to use color theory in its practical use. Very good.
Glad it was helpful!
Really great video. A lot of useful info ❤🙏🙏🙏
nice info, I didn't have any problem absorbing it so I was baffled by the amount of people complaining about this and that
Thank you 🙏🏼
Amazing!
Fantastic and concise video 👏
amazing video!!! thank you so much! just in time for prelims 😩
Thank you for watching! Best of luck :)
I can't paint or understand art but I love warm colours and the various shades of one colour. My English teacher taught us how colour evokes responses even in advertising. And we'd to choose from a Christmas card display and discuss why we chose it. I like to know the thinking behind most things. Just saying.
Thank you for the video. 🎉
Thank you for sharing!
Keep doing your job, the information you gave is very useful to many people. Thanks good job.
It's my pleasure!
Can't wait for the next video
Thank you!
i love this video !
Hi I wish to thank you very much, great program.
Thanks for the video!!! Very useful💗
Glad it was helpful!
Very interesting Thanks 👍👋
Great vidoe, there are cool colours of every colour and warm colours of every colour . eg Warm blue and cool blue .
That's a good point! Thank you for watching :)
Wow so much information, I don’t know why it has to go so fast , after all it is introducing a way of looking at something. I certainly needed more time to absorb what was being offered .
Am definitely slowing down in future videos, thank you for sharing your thoughts!
THIS IS SO HELPFUL!!
Yay thank you so much!
Nice!
Highly informative
My color scheme matches the story within my artwork & writings as in my color me a... series of essays
now this is very well constructed content, well use of Ai, great animation, great explanation, easy to understand english term, very amazing
Glad you liked it!
Great video! It sounds better if I slow it down.
Excellent
Thank you so much for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Love this channel.
I appreciate that!
very good but please get rid of the music!
Agree
Thank you for the feedback! I am definitely working on the audio in future videos
@@LearnAboutArt really great video though will rewatch if you upload again without music
Super informative video, clearly structured and simple for brutal beginners like. I only think the music's a little loud, making it harder to understand the script in some parts.
You really. packed a lot of art ed into six minutes!
Yeah, I really wanted to keep it as succinct as possible. Thank you for watching!
Thanks it was great
You're welcome!
❤❤❤❤
love
Such a beautiful and helpful video.
Thank you 🙏🏼
Thank you
Thank you for watching!
I struggle with this topic nit having any formal training. I am trying to create a scene in the Ardennes forrest during WW2. I know I should use a cool combination as it is during winter, uniforms could be white, brown and green with the tanks in Green or darken.
The trees will recede into the musty background and would be lighter as they disappear.
Not really sure if this is correct
this sounds beautiful! Hope you completed it
Excelente video ; me suscribo ahora
I have to say, unfortunately, this video taught more lessons than my fine art school
The Ugly & the Good (no Bad) - at 3:45 I hear the name Jean (a French name)… it is not pronounced (as in the video) as JEE-n (long E, rhymes with machine)… it IS pronounced Jean… rhymes with SHAWN. Other than that (cause we don’t want to “dumb-down”… do we know what “dumb-down” means???) our precious fine arts) this is a wonderful & instructive video.
Thank you for your feedback! Will work towards giving more accurate pronunciations in future videos
💕💕
Talking about the Analogous colour scheme, I understand that the background is White and since White is not there in the colour wheel, the White background is ignored. Is background generally ignored in the colour scheme or is it because White is absent in the colour wheel?
The colour wheel is a system created to understand how different colour wavelengths interact with each other in light. White can be found in more complicated colour wheels that show the tints and shades of the hues. have a look: www.stitchclinic.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/BasicColorWheelwithTintsTints.jpg
White is veeery important honestly. Do check out how colours are used in eastern art :)
Hey Siri, congratulations on your art video on colour.
Hey Alexa, my pleasure
Great
Really enjoyed this video. Thank you for your work making it.
I also noticed that people were complaining about the ai-generated audio. There is nothing wrong in my opinion and i am glad it is understandable unlike some narrators
Thank you again.
I was VERY interested in the topic, and you presented it well! However, after a while the music completely overshadowed it and I had to drop off before it was done. I mention this only because in the future you might want to be sure the music is way in the background 😬🎶
Yeah I have definitely taken note of it in my latest videos. Thank you for your feedback, I appreciate it!
@@LearnAboutArt great! I look forward to more of your videos!
I juss learned something
Thank you for sharing. New Sub here..💕👍
Honestly, color theory seems more complicated to me than my highschool quantum physics and I was good at physics.
The reason why we see colour is coz of physics. And interestingly enough, physicist Isaac Newton and chemist Michel Chevreul are responsible for the beginnings of colour wheels and colour theory.
Colour theory can be very complicated 😅😅
@@LearnAboutArt Last nail on the coffin!
